07.01.2022 For many people who have complex mental health issues, it is not just their illness that can get in the way of engaging with work and friends, it is the discrimination they experience. In this ABC News article, SANE Peer Ambassador, Cameron chatted to ABC News about the launch of SANE Australia's National Stigma Report Card. "What comes through really clearly with this report is that people want to be treated with kindness and compassion and respect and I think that's all tha...t any of us want." You can read the full report and explore the findings here: nationalstigmareportcard.com.au

06.01.2022 Congratulations to our People's Choice winner of our 2020 Social Media Competition, Vanessa, who took this lovely photo of jacarandas in bloom! Vanessa is excited to receive the prize - a FitBit, sponsored by the Mental Awareness Foundation - as she finds walking in nature very useful for her mental health . Now she'll be able to track her walk! Here are a few words from Vanessa: ... "I use mindfulness skills I've learned in DBT while walking, especially the observe and describe skill (5 things I see, 4 things I can feel, 3 things I can hear, 2 things I can smell, 1 think I can taste). It's a 'simple' activity but so great for clearing the mind of distress, grounding myself and accumulating enjoyable moments. It's a little bit of time just for me, with no kids, where I try not to think about anything in particular and just focus on just the here and now and the beauty of nature. " A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our photo challenge this year . It was fantastic to see the varying ways people take time for their mental health and help spread the word about this year's QMHW theme.
