19.01.2022 Earlier this week it was my pleasure to attend the Mentor Support Network’s educational scholarship presentation. 43 deserving students were awarded the scholar...ships to help with the cost of their education, allowing them to purchase things like school uniforms and computers. It was fantastic to see these students so committed to their education, and so proud to be recipients.

18.01.2022 In the City of Newcastle each year a charitable organisation is chosen by the Lord Mayor to be recognised for the great work that they do at the breakfast. The beneficiary winner also receives the proceeds of the breakfast. The 2019 beneficiary winner was the Mentor Support Network who received $16,000. These funds were made possible through the generosity of the breakfast sponsors and the donations of breakfast guests. The purpose of the Mentor Support Network is to help dis...advantaged youth achieve their education and career goals. Educational Scholarships are awarded to young students over 15 years old who are committed to achieving educational goals, but who, because of financial or other hardship, are at significant risk of being unable to do so. Scholarships range in value up to $3,000. They have also developed a Mentor Training Program to provide mentors with the skills and tools necessary for working with youth. http://www.mentorsupportnetwork.com.au//Mentor%20Support%2 See more

14.01.2022 A $30,000 grant from the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation has funded the Mentor Support Network (MSN) to provide scholarships for 10 Hunter students who came to Australia as refugees. Students were provided the scholarships ‘virtually’ after the scheduled presentation ceremony was cancelled to reduce the risk of spreading the Covid19 virus. MSN and the Charitable Foundation opted to announce the scholarships via a digital presentation. This video features videos from the students and Chair of the Foundation, Phil Neat as well as MSN Chair Jon Chin. Our sincere thanks to the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation and to Purser Corporate Communication.
