So before starting your furniture shopping give me a buzz, having a plan and purpose for your home is key in making it work best for your lifestyle. See more

25.01.2022 Ok, who is an entertainer and who prefers to attend the parties? . I am definitely a bit of both but I do love hosting people at my home, especially dinner parties. I do get a bit stressed about it but that's only cause I want it to be perfect and for people to enjoy themselves. . Ever since my husband and I met we have always had people over to our home. Even when we bought our first home and there was literally no where for people to gather except the carport! Can I... say...it was a great night! . Now that we have done some Reno's it is a little more comfortable. We now have an open plan home with a decent size dining table to fit our guests. . So tell me what was the best house party you hosted OR the best home party you attended? See more

24.01.2022 City centre living. Who is for it? I am a bit of a city girl, however I do Iike a balance. Growing up on acreage I can appreciate the wide open spaces and peacefulness. Maybe a city apartment for the weekdays and a country home for the weekends

24.01.2022 Bar carts are a throwback to simple, sophisticated days past, and they bring a dash of Old Hollywood glamour to your place. Good looks aside, there’s no end to the number of roles they can play in your home. They can be stashed away easily and are always ready to role away (well the ones with wheels). ... No matter your decor there is one to match your home. Both men and women love them! They fit all your home bar basics And they can be..... a beside table in your bedroom an extra stylish kitchen storage space a plant stand or side table in a living room So many ways you can use a bar cart!! 24.01.2022 With the market looking great in December have you thought of selling? You would think the silly season is not the time to sell, well people you should considerate it! The properties we are styling are selling like hot cakes! A few weeks ago one of our staged properties sold in 4 days! There are many factors you need to consider when selling so my suggestion would be to talk to a few local agents to see if it is really right for you. ... But never under estimate styling a property, it can make a huge difference to your marketing, how many buyers walk through the door and then fall in love with it, and the end $$$ you receive for your home! I have a couple of spots left before Christmas so give me a buzz if you want to find out more about staging your home. See more

23.01.2022 How cool is this large clam shell! Instead of filling it with decorative pieces, I thought why not use it to hold, and cool drinks! . Made out of polyresin it is nice and light, so easy to clean and wipe down and what a perfect centrepiece for a coastal style home! . ... Would you like to add more detail and character to your home? 21.01.2022 How to style and sell your home on a budget. First impressions count for potential buyers. You need them to fall in love at the first open home, so don’t skimp out on the following! 1. Cleaning. Make your home presentable, don’t leave obvious mess for your agent to clean before an open home. Also get a deep clean of the home, buyers love to see a clean, fresh smelling home. And don’t forget to clean the windows! ... 2. Deccluttering. Clutter is a big turn off, it can show neglect and also give an impression that there is not enough storage in the home. Minimalist is key. 3. Paint. Fresh coat of paint brightens the home and is a relatively cheap overhaul. Choose a colour that is trending, get rid of the dated colour scheme. 4. Pest spray. Exterminate any creepy crawlers before any open homes as buyers are easily put off by obvious signs of insects and spiders invading the home. I know I would be! 5. Property Styling. Either get in a professional stager to give you DIY tips on presenting your home OR hire them to stage your home with furniture and accessories to give that fresh, new look it needs to attract the right buyer. Call me!! I can help with both options If you love these tips save this post!! See more

21.01.2022 Hello! I think it is about time to re-introduce myself to you all out there! Plus I don't know about you but I am keen to connect with people even more now! Being an extrovert, ISO was a struggle! . My name is Carly, I have been married for 6 years with an amazing man who is my absolute rock. We have a gorgeous...energetic 20 month year old girl, who I think will follow in my foot steps one day. I say this because she is already creative loving her painting and colouring as ...well as coming with me most days to furniture showrooms (lets just say it isn't the best shopping experience but she loves running a muck ). . But on another note, I love cooking and eating good food be at home or at a restaurant, love (or loved) traveling, am obsessed with fashion especially clothing and maybe shopping in general , I am a sucker for reality and drama tv shows. . Also an interesting fact.....I have had short hair since I was 13 . I have had a lot of different 'short' hair styles in my time.....yes I had a mullet back in the day and thought it was cool haha. But it was a change I wanted to make when I went to high school and I think it was more around a fresh start for me. . I of course LOVE interiors and decorating ever since I was a teenager. Now I love creating rooms/spaces that my clients connect with and feel comfortable in. My business name Meraki definitely describes how I feel about interiors but also how I work and the dedication I give to my clients. . Meraki: Creativity, Love & Soul . I can't wait to share more of my love for interiors and perhaps help you on the way with your interior projects! See more

20.01.2022 Ok making a bed......you do it or your don’t? Main reasons I hear about not making the bed: - I don't have time - No one sees it anyway ... - Too many cushions and I don't know how to make it look good - My dog is curled up in the sheets and I don’t want to disturb them - Why bother when I am going to ruin it later tonight? Creating a comfortable, relaxing and beautiful bedroom is so important. And here is why! - It starts your day off right. A small accomplishment but it sets the tone for the rest of the day. - It encourages the rest of the room to be neat and tidy - It leads to better productivity. Bed making becomes a keystone habit, something that kickstarts a chain of other good decisions throughout the day, and gives you a sense of taking charge. Yep there are studies people! - Lowers your stress and improves your mood. - It just looks and feels better So, I encourage you to make your bed tomorrow See more

20.01.2022 TOP 5 STYLING ACCESSORIES . Accessories are all about creating moments in your home. They tell a story and give personality to what could be an empty, life less room. Here are my top 5. . .... . 1. Cushions - They are items that are interchangeable and gives great flexibility to decorating. Favourite sizes are 60 x 60cm and 30 x 60cm. Using different sizes is important as it adds layers and is visually appalling. . . 2. Vases - clear vases for fresh flowers to add height, colour and volume. It can bring the outside inside. A ceramic vase adds texture, colour and can be a feature in itself. . . 3. Coffee table books - injects personality and able to layer them for a graphic look. You can also introduce colour through the book spins. . . 4. Flowers & Greenery - Helps to bring the outside in and add a sense of freshness to a room. It can add colour, impact, drama to a coffee or consol table. It can also be a focal point in a room. . . 5. Art - Is a key element to any space. Art introduces personality and life to any room of the home. It is very much personal and needs to speak to you. It is a key element to space. . . Give us a hola if your home is feeling bland, lifeless or empty. We can help you add those accessories to inject your personality into your home. See more

19.01.2022 Should we choose this sofa.... or this sofa? There’s no denying that this Zaza sofa from @kingliving is cleverly designed with adjustable arm rests and movable back cushions, but depending on your perspective this feature may not interest you at all! Comparing different brands and styles can get you confused. It’s easy to go around in circles, second guess your decision. ... I see this all the time in my decorating work. Often homeowners come to me for a fresh perspective, another pair of eyes to guide them on the right path to that perfectly furnished space or how a particular room should be used. But I see it as a meeting of the minds, exploring various options and narrowing down choices to ensure it meets YOUR NEEDS. If your feeling some uncertainty with making furniture or just interior decisions, & could use a little nudge in the right direction, pop me a DM I would be happy to chat with you! See more

18.01.2022 BEFORE & AFTER.. they are my favourites . I love seeing a space transformed with furniture, soft furnishing and artwork. What a difference it can make! . This home was on the market recently, and we helped bring it back to life. It had been a rental property for 10 years so it needed a little love. . We suggested the new paint colour, organised window treatments to be installed and help re-purpose spaces, such as the formal dining room into a lounge room by simply remo...ving the old chandelier. I mean who doesn't want more living spaces these days! If your selling your home, get in touch, preparing and staging is so important. It can be the difference between a good price and great price!! 14.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW... In decorating, a small grouping of objects or accessories is called a ‘vignette’. Yep weird word and I still find it hard to work it into a sentence with my clients. Vignettes are important in interiors, they create a pleasing focal point and can tell a story. I love vignettes because they bring charm, character and life to a space. They can be a group of sentimental items or simply items that work with the current decor. You can find them on coffe...e or dining tables, book cases or buffets. Check out my vignette image here. 13.01.2022 Do you own a holiday home or Air BnB? Here are my top 5 tips when designing and styling your holiday home. 1. Create that holiday feel... Guests are escaping their daily hustle to stay at your property. So, you want the home to 'feel' like a holiday home from the moment they arrive. Style the property to reflect this, you want your guests to feel comfortable and relaxed. 2. Know your target market Understand your property’s target market and what they are looking for. Put your style preferences aside and ensure your property reflects the native environment and what your target market is looking for. 3. Can you afford to replace your styling items? When styling don't use pieces that you can't afford to replace or that will upset you if they get damaged. It is part and parcel of having a holiday property that things will get damaged or broken. 4. Break the rules Holiday accommodation needs to have a sense of fun and personality. You can break the rules! If you’re in a coastal area, have some fun and make the most of the breezy nature of the coast and style the home to represent this. 5. Durable linens Make sure everything you use to style your property can be laundered....numerous times too. Most common complaint for holiday homes is cleanliness. The last thing you want is a guest seeing a dirty cushion or throw. Even choose bed linen in the same colour so you can wash all together. Choose styling items that are hard wearing and can handle repeat laundering. Tell me below if these tips were helpful! See more

Enjoy this long weekend everyone! Make sure to put your feet up! See more

12.01.2022 Confused what an interior decorator does? And how they can help you? I think everyone confuses us with Interior Designers and that's fair, we both work on interiors. An interior designer works closely with architects to design the interior space and has experience within the building industry. ... A decorator on the other hand, focuses on furniture, accessories, artwork and soft furnishing selections; like fabrics, rugs, curtains, cushions & linen. The work can extend to selecting paint and wallpaper to coordinating an appropriate trade to complete the job. So where do you start with a decorator? All decorating jobs begin with a conversation to determine style and color preferences, budget and the scope of the project. From here a decorator does all the leg work from creating mood boards of the desired look for the home, researching and sourcing of items, shopping, organising deliveries and installing and styling the product! There is definitely a lot of planning & creativity involved, probably a lot more than people think. It takes time to create a well thought out concept so unfortunately it isn't a quick 1 month job, its more like 6months + (it can take 12-14 weeks to order a sofa! ) It takes time to create something special. Hit me up in the comments with your questions on decorators! See more

12.01.2022 Think about your dream home, what are a couple of words that describe your style or how you want your home to look and feel? Perhaps its - Spacious & Bright - Fresh & Inviting - Practical but beautiful ... - Luxurious & Elegant - Bold & Colourful - Relaxed & Personal Everyone has their words, we all dream different and live different! I mean wouldn't our homes be boring if we all thought the same! I find this is the best exercise in finding out my clients style and remembering these words when selecting furnishings. It can be so easy to go with what is trending or go furniture shopping and purchase something you like but don't love. I want to hear the words that describe your dream home! PS. I have decorating consultations that delve into this question and many more to help create that dream home your wishing of. So if your feeling lost or overthinking everything. 12.01.2022 WINTER HOME TIPS: 5 TIPS TO COCOON YOURSELF The months are getting cool and we are all wanting to keep warm and cosy in our homes. My winter styling tips: ... 1. Rich colours and lush fabrics Fabrics like wool, velvet and faux fur can bring warmth to a room. Trending colours this winter are olive, emerald, plum, mustard, and burnt orange. If you need to update your home, invest in new scatter cushions, thick bed or sofa throws or even a plush rug underfoot. 2. Change your bedding Change out your bedding to thicker weight duvets and new linen. Opt for deeper colour tones for the ultimate cosy feel and layer your bed with a coverlet, blanket or throw. 3. Candles They are my winter go-to: It’s easy for a home to feel musty and dark with windows and doors often closed to keep in the warmth, so using pretty scented candles will help lift your mood. 4. Add Greenery Lets not suppress our desire for outdoor living because of the gusty winds, frost-bitten lawns and icy evenings. Bring a little of the outside in by way of hardy indoor plants, or buy a bunch of flowers every week to add a sunny disposition to your home. 5. Create an outdoor room We may not be able to travel or go camping very far, so why not bring the experience into your backyard? Invest in an outdoor firepit! There is nothing like toasting a marshmallow or playing some tunes under a starry sky. How do you cosy up your house in the winter? I want to hear! Comment below! See more

08.01.2022 An often-forgotten room in the home, when styling, is the bathroom yet it’s generally the first room we go to when we wake up and the last room we’re in before going to bed. Here are 3 styling tips to get you started on creating that pretty but functional bathroom. 1. ... Lets turn your toothbrushes and soaps into a stylish arrangement! Add a tray or trivet to group items together and style in odd numbers (3, 5 or 7). Use some natural elements like a shell or piece of coral (like pictured here), a small plant or flowers for colour and freshness, and play with the height and scale of items. 2. Even if you don't have a bath, a stool in a bathroom can be a great practical furniture piece. Candles, small towels, body products or brushes are just some of the items you could arrange on top. See what I have done in the photo 3. Add a splash of colour and interest to your bathroom with towels. Stylish towels are easier to find and they don't need to be expensive! If your feeling adventurous, use pattern towels, they can pack a punch in a bathroom. If you loved these tips save this post! I am sure these small changes will transform your bathroom! See more

05.01.2022 TEXTURE is just one element in the design and decorating principles. I also think it is something people miss or are not confident with when decorating a space in their own home. Texture has the power to add warmth, depth and character to your room. It is also visual as it is tactile. Some great examples are marble, wood, glass and wool (there are so many more). As you can see in my photo there is a mix of rattan, wood, glass and linen. All these textures... come together and add layers to the room. I don't think there is one texture that doesn't work with another, as long as it works with your style concept. I challenge you to introduce texture into your home. And I want to know what you added! leave a comment below. See more

03.01.2022 Kitchen stools are one of those items that can be a pain to find. Especially if you after a specific look, want them to be comfortable, durable, have a back to lean against, right colour and material, list can go on! I am finding that the kitchen bench is one of those places that is now replacing a dining table. People are designing kitchens with an island bench big enough to have 6 people around it! I have seen a couple in the last week! ... I know our dining table hasn’t had much use in a while! Do find you spend more time eating at the kitchen bench? If your totally stuck finding the right stools, get in touch! We offer furniture sourcing services to make your life stress and worry free! We can might even be able to save you some $$ by looking in the right place See more

02.01.2022 How do I arrange and style everything on a bookcase? . This is definately a topic I find my clients struggling with. I think it is easy to pile all your books onto a shelf but it is key to understand their needs to be a balance of books and decorative pieces. . 1. Declutter - less is more when it comes to decorating your shelves. Go through your books and choose the ones you use and want to show case. Then arrange them into small stacks and have some laying horizontal and ot...hers standing up vertically. . 2. Choose a colour you want to focus on and that matches with the room decor. The colour can be bought through with vases, artwork and other objects. Greenery is also a great way to break up your colour scheme and add texture. I love draping plants on shelves. . 3. Layering is important to add depth to a shelf. Position items in front of each other or have them sitting on top of each other, like the coral on top of the box in the photo. . 4. Balance. Large sculpture pieces can definitely stand alone while smaller items should be grouped in pairs or in odd numbers to be visually appealing and to create a story or moment. . 5. Make sure when your styling your shelf that there is a mix of objects, sculptures, vessels, flowers and books. The shelf should look visually appealing rather than heavy and messy. . What does your book shelf look like at home? Do you fall in the trap of stuffing it full, or is it organised? Tell me if these tips were helpful by leaving a comment below! See more

01.01.2022 I love this! . Part of my job is to really learn and understand the people who live in a home. This knowledge then helps me create spaces that reflect my clients lifestyle and the way they want to live. The home needs to be a reflection of the family who lives there! . People don't realise how in depth or personal a interior decorator needs to be, but it is all to benefit the person/s living there! I make it my aim to listen to my clients and really understand their needs. I... also help them get out of their comfort zone with colour and finishes, give them ideas they may not have even thought off. . Tell me, do you think this statement is true? I would love to hear your comments below! See more
