23.01.2022 #wednesdaywisdom for this week As Oprah said, which is so true, when we continually think about what we DON'T have we always want more, but if we look at what we DO have we realise how much we actually DO HAVE. This year has sucked. It's been a write off. There's no other way of putting it. But when we had every right to look at it by what we have lost, missed out on etc etc etc. But what we NEED to realise what we do have. We now value being able to see family, to spend time... with friends. Take the kids for a drive to the beach. To go for a long walk or a hike, go bar hopping with friends. To be able to go out to dinner or to the gym. Yes, these are all things we lost but what if we turned that around to now be grateful for those things. To not take it for granted. Anyway, that's what I have learned. I would really love to hear what you have learnt from this year. 17.01.2022 The Eye of the Peacock Did you know that there many different meanings for the Peacock Eye? Ok, if you hadn't figured it out by now, I am just SLIGHTLY obsessed with Peacocks. Actually, completely lol. I Peacocks are my spirit animal. ... But back to the eye. In ancient Greece, the Peacock was the patron bird of the goddess Hera. The story says that Hera was married to the Greek God Zeus but he fell in love with Io. He feared the anger of Hera so he turned Io into a white cow ! That way he could protect Io. But Hera figured it out and made Zeus gift her the cow. She had Argus, a 100 eyed Giant guard the cow. Zeus had Argus killed but Hera then placed '100 eyes' onto her sacred bird - The Peacock so that they could always be watching.. 10.01.2022 Since its been awhile & there are many new followers , I thought that it was time to reintroduce myself ! Hi , I am Lauren and I started Meraki Unique Celebrations because of a lifelong love of Events. I am a huge believer in things being meant to be. I am absolutely obsessed with Peacocks. I love their proud nature - proud of their individuality & uniqueness. ... When I was trying to find the perfect business name, I had to find a unique word, one that meant something. I came across the word MERAKI. Meraki means to do something with Love, Creativity, Soul & Purpose. That when you love doing something so much, you leave part of yourself in it. Then I discovered during searching for different words meaning Peacock, I came across one. Merak means Peacock in Indonesian. MEANT TO BE. I studied Wedding & Events Planning and Styling @weddingacademylive and just graduated in July . So, a bit more about me - I have two teenage children, a son 16yo and a daughter who is 14. I have a called JJ, a called Tim Tam otherwise known as Timmy. I have an amazing partner who encourages and challenges me. I drink too much and not enough water. I love chick flicks & rom-coms, a Twilight fan (Team Edward all the way!) and one of my favourites is Gone With The Wind My FAVE Wedding movie is Father Of The Bride I LOVE taking My 2nd home is Far North Queensland I love and have an intense of @bookdepository My favourite bands are ABBA & Train I drink Iced Coffee ALL YEAR LONG I am a bit weird - I love travelling but my favourite show is Air Crash Investigation & I hate the sight of blood but another of my favourite shows is 24 Hours in Emergency. I have always been fascinated with trees, especially in how they show their age (in a GOOD way!), showing their longevity & constancy.... Did you know that not only does the tree rings tell us their age, but also what the weather was like as well? I think this is absolutely fascinating and embodies Strength, Constancy, the ability to move on from a difficult time and permanency. Its a colour that we in a way forget about, that its just there in the background, blending in. But looking at that in another way shows us that it is a constant in our lives and is always there.
