24.01.2022 Another stunning day in Albury Wodonga! Very quiet here so what better than a drive in the surrounding countryside where the crops are looking fantastic with the recent rain and the lambs are bouncing high with energy. Down to the river's edge to have our pies from Howlong Bakery which were very delicious. Some great photo opportunities and lots of birdlife on the backroads. A lovely few hours in these pretty trying times. The remains of the Howlong Flour Mill from 1867 - particularly interesting.

24.01.2022 A very quiet August in the motel. We are however enjoying the time we have to ride to Horseshoe via the Albury Botanic Gardens, drive around the countryside to see the crops looking amazing, potter in the garden and keep the motel looking beautiful. We look forward to seeing all of our regular guests again and trust everyone is staying safe and well.

23.01.2022 Want to share with you all the Prime 7 News interview with Helen Ballard the other night regarding the old Meramie next door

22.01.2022 The Ancient art of Seduction

22.01.2022 This weather is irresistible - yet another bike-ride to Horseshoe and beyond - almost to Wonga Wetlands (17km all up so feeling it now...and there are hills!) So many turtles out sunning themselves and lots of waterbirds - beautiful.

21.01.2022 One of our apartments which sleeps 5 guests - can be incorporated with the apartment across the landing to sleep up to 12 guests. Great for wedding parties - both apartments have a lovely big balcony for outdoor dining.

20.01.2022 A variety of challenges over the last few weeks which have kept us on our toes and busy. We have been wanting to thank our very good friend Ben O'Reilly (Pony Espresso coffee van) for his generous gift of beautiful lime green chairs for around the pool. They look fantastic and we are very grateful thank you Ben! And thank you too for keeping me sane with excellent red wines and Brooke for her endless free coffees. We love having you on site!

18.01.2022 As silly as this is ... we actually do have footage of the mid-winter dip. I was sitting here having lunch, looked up at the monitor and realised it would have picked it up so here it is

18.01.2022 So many vibrant and cheerful yellows in Meramie gardens at present.

17.01.2022 AND you won't believe this - I made another appearance on the news.... this time relating to the Police and Traffic Services filling hotel/motel rooms in Albury due to the border closure. A few days certainly helped the cash flow however it was short-lived as the ADF (Australian Defence Forces) were bought in to help with the border controls. So, with all the admin that goes with this type of booking, plus the red tape for obtaining Grants and Jobkeeper, etc. along with a com...pletely new Reservations System. GDS (global distribution system) and Website, there has been plenty to do. But....we have spent a few days out and about doing some great stuff. These pics of the Hume Dam last week - a little bit of fossicking with the metal detector (lots of sinkers/bottle tops/can tabs - no gold yet)

15.01.2022 Ian Mum's (Dorothy's) Lachenalias finally in full bloom and looking stunning. I was moving pots yesterday around the pool (Ian's always happy to help with this but I tend to just get into it...) and took a surprise mid-winter dip! Walking backwards with the trolley and one very heavy pot. It was refreshing and I was fortunate the pot and trolley didn't follow me in. We had a good laugh - me through chattering teeth - the glasses stayed on too!

13.01.2022 Bike ride to Horseshoe Lagoon in lovely warm sunshine today. Dozens of Pelicans, Ducks with ducklings, a square tailed Kite, Darters and Yellow Rosellas to name a few. A resting platfrom with binoculars has been erected on the main path of the Wagirra Trail overlooking the large flying fox colony at Leaney's Bend - fantastic! The Golden Wattle (Acacia pycnantha - the official floral emblem of Australia) are in full flower and that beautiful rich woody scent is amazing especially on such a warm and still day.

13.01.2022 It is with huge sadness that we have just heard of Dianne Brown's recent passing. Dianne and her husband Alan were the previous owners of Meramie. Dianne was a wonderful person and we spent many hours together when we took over the motel and then endless hours returning her moggie Murphy, when she would return to what she considered her home - Meramie. Dianne leaves behind a close-knit family and especially her 2 much-loved twin granddaughters who will miss her very much.... RIP Dianne Brown and condolences to your family Linda and Ian

13.01.2022 Today a trip out to the stunning Wonga Wetlands - a must see for all visitors to Albury/Wodonga. We spotted many birds along with several swans with cygnets and kangaroos with joeys (funny - with one foot poking out of the pouch). The weather is absolutely perfect, clear and the snow on the alps looks so close.

11.01.2022 Ian and I had a great bike ride yesterday (following football, tennis, bubble blowing and tossing the toilet roll with Ned) out to my favourite ruins (Brasseurville) and on to the famous Lattice bridge across the Murray.

11.01.2022 MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS OF MERAMIE We hope you are enjoying your day with friends and family and would like to wish you a happy and safe Christmas and New Year. We are still open for business and look forward to welcoming you back over the next few months as life slowly returns to some sort of normal.... With love and best wishes! Linda and Ian

07.01.2022 A beautiful bunch from Meramie’s gardens today

06.01.2022 Bike rides today - Horseshoe Lagoon with Ian, Brooke & Neddy. The wattle looking beautiful at one of our favourite spots - the river at Waterworks Road - a good ride from the motel. The river well down at present.

05.01.2022 Ian’s Mum’s (Dorothy) Lachenalias thriving - many pots of them and all through Meramie gardens - a beautiful sight in full flower and the colours of autumn on the rear pool gate - gorgeous! Fresh this morning and very peaceful!

05.01.2022 A big win for those who love historical homes and want them preserved for future generations - Albury City Council voted to save our beautiful neighbour, the original Meramie, last night. Yes, I feel for the owners and understand that the restoration of such a large home and bringing it back to it's former glory (removing the many small rooms from it's hospital and hostel days) is a major undertaking and hope it can be sold to some-one who would love to restore it (well, yes, me... IF I had the money I would certainly do it!). Thank you Albury City!

04.01.2022 On arriving home the sun was streaming in to the dining room - this was an amazing reflection on the wall - possibly photographing it doesn't do it justice.

01.01.2022 Such perfect weather! And the spring blossom, yellow wattles and bulbs are stunning. Wonga Wetlands with several pairs of black swans with cygnets - some huge now! - a lovely wander yesterday. Looking at the pics last night was surprised to see the roo in the reflections pic - we hadn't noticed it
