24.01.2022 A Tribute to Martin (Bill) Foreman Today we farewell a club stalwart and Life Member Martin (Bill) Foreman who passed away on the 20th November 2020. Martin or Bill as he was known to many, was a major contributor to our club and the local community over many years.... One of Bill’s major legacies to our club was his junior coaching, which taught many young players how to play the game of cricket. It is great to see some of Bill’s great grandchildren now coming through our junior cricket. Bill also volunteered his time preparing the Chaffey Park wicket & he could be seen putting in countless hours to ensure our players had a magnificent wicket to play on come each Saturday. Our club offers its condolences to Maureen, Leigh, Kerry, Darren and their families, Bill will be greatly missed.

24.01.2022 Update from Gol Gol from the women's comp, MSCC batted first scoring 4/103 in their allotted overs. Most got runs in top order. Probably the highlight was the first class umpiring stint that occurred. Girls have taken the field to defend.

20.01.2022 Morning Saints fans. Keep your eyes peeled for our "presentation" of the trophies to their winners over the next few hours. While we haven't been able to hold a presentation night we wanted to make sure we acknowledge all our award winners. Go Saints!

19.01.2022 4th Division Results! With no cricket today lets look back to last weekend. The 4ths had another win over a similarly young Workers Golly outfit. Carlo finally won a toss and we batted first on a hard wicket with such small boundaries it was too good to pass up. The going early was good with Melville and Carlo going at a decent clip, some erratic bowling helped the cause. Both disappointed to get our after cruising early. Gav Gourlay put some fear into the opposition with so...me big hitting in a brief innings . Workers came back to have it 3 for 70 odd but what happened next was the highlight of the year with the bat so far. After struggling with the bat early in the season Meggsy Mark Duscher and Jarrod Forrester came together to put on a remarkable 100 plus run partnership. It looked pretty easy once they were set as they would take the easy runs as well as hit some glorious shots for boundaries. Jfo finishing in red ink with the team making 5-193 off only 30 overs. In reply Workers were up against so we put some great faith in the kids and the opening pair of Lane Banasiak and Jack Hoyle acquitted themselves very well considering the 41 degree heat. Workers never got close in a day wickets were hard to come by with some tidy bowling early and late from Pip Cavallo and Jess Potter who was unlucky not to take her first wicket in the 4ths. Lane ending up with a couple of wickets to be the pick of the bowlers in a tight one with Pip a close second. We now sit at 4-0 which is an amazing feat considering the multitude of changes from week to week. We keep backing in the kids and they are coming along nicely. Go Saints MSCC 5-193 M.Duscher 60 J.Forrester 56 not out G. Gourlay 21 Workers Gol Gol 5-134 L. Banasiak 2-14 J. Cavallo 2-29

19.01.2022 Congrats Cambo, another great achievement mate

18.01.2022 Young gun Campbell Griffiths with his 6/59 ball. Cambo took 10 wickets at 10.8 in just 3 games last season. We are hoping to see plenty of him in the ones this year. Great job Cambo!

18.01.2022 It's with extremely heavy hearts that we share this post. Rest in peace, Brian. Our sincere condolences to Gloria and the family during this difficult time. You are in all our thoughts.

18.01.2022 Evening all. Here is the round up of the first 2 rounds of the season for the 1st division side. Round 1 away vs Nichols Point CC 1st division debuts were given to Jared Jenson, Dylan Vertigan, Cam Holland and Brady Moore, this complimented the return of Ash Durie to the club after moving back to Mildura.... We won the toss and batted first and after 39.2 overs we were bowled out having scored 128. Rob Roelofs and Dylan Vertigan equal top scored with 25, with Seane Headland, Hamim Miah and Tony Trinick also getting to double figures. Unfortunately for us Leigh Thomson-Mathews got away from us early in the bowling innings to score 63 off just 23 balls which certainly put us on the back foot. Brady Moore collected his first wicket for the club, before Damon Duffield came on and took 2 quick wickets before new captain Matt O'Connor also took 2 wickets to have point 5/125. Scoota followed Damo and took a wicket but it was all a little too late as Point passed our score 6 wickets down. D Duffield finished with figures of 2/23 from his 4 overs, Matt with 2/19 from 6 overs, Scoota 1/2 from 2 overs, Brady 1/39 and Cam Holland 0/48. Solid effort first round with some good things to take from the game. Round 2 vs West at John Hall oval (aero 2) With a late change Friday night due to a training mishap, Hamim Miah took the captaincy role for this game after Matty O's unfortunate toe injury. The side welcomed back Brennon Duffield for his first game of the season. Hamim won the toss and elected to bowl. The lads started well with the early wicket of Benny Hallam, but some fantastic batting in the middle overs saw West get to 5/219 from their 40 overs. Pick of the bowlers was Rob Roelofs with 1/18 from his 6 overs, 5 other bowlers also too 1 wicket each. Our batting got off to a solid start before we lost 3 wickets for 9 runs to be 3/37. Ash Durie was the pick of the batsmen scoring a well compiled 31 and Rob topped of a good day all round scoring 23 not out. Unfortunately the task was a little to much but we didn't fold and batted our 40 overs out to be 8/125 at the end of our innings. It hasn't been the exact start we had been hoping for but there certainly are good signs for the rest of the season. #GoSaints

16.01.2022 Hi everyone, We have hit $10,000 dollars today with so many legends donating. Under $2000 to go and we can finally get one of these for the kids. A shout out to former local Russell Bennett who donated all the way from WA. His words were, he I know how much sport means for the kids. Need I say more. Any donation is appreciated no matter how big or small. Thanks again it’s been a privilege to be a part of something so innovative.

15.01.2022 Hi Everyone, These amazing pitches arrive in Australia at the end of the month. To lock a couple away we need to reach our target of $12000. So far we have $9580 so we are getting close. As we have heard our junior teams will play their games on these regardless of weather conditions. What we may not know is that our 5 senior teams (1st-4ths and our Girls/Ladies) and 6 junior teams can use these for training. They pull into halves so we can have our teams out on the oval trai...ning as we play on the weekends. I have no doubt this will benefit us on game day club wide. We have had some amazing donations so far big and small, all equally as important as each other. Even $10 donation from here from all of us would see us smash the target needed. Let’s get donating and I will update each milestone as we pass it. Once we are there not only will we have the best players/people in the league but the best equipment too and lead the league in our development program. Thanks again to all of our loyal supporters and players. We’ve got this. Let’s go Saints https://gf.me/u/yz6gzg See more

08.01.2022 Congratulations to our U/16 team for taking out the inaugural SCA McDonalds T/20 Cup. The team started well & came away with an impressive victory over Mildura Settlers, winning by 18 runs. Scores: Merbein-South 5/153 (20 overs) D. Furze 39* (off 23 balls), J. Malycha 29, C. Dunne 24 & K. Fitzpatrick 18. Mildura Settlers 135 (19.5 overs) K. Fitzpatrick 4/25, J. Hoyle 3/16 & D. Furze 1/27.

08.01.2022 Darren "Jumbo" James with his 4th division bowling award and the Champion Team award which was won by his 4th division side. Well done Jumbo!

07.01.2022 Lets get around Nick Dorman & support this worthy cause, given the current circumstances!

07.01.2022 Round 3 Division 3 We took on the ladder leaders in The Settlers at the picturesques Kenny Park, which was in magnificent conditions full credit to the curator. We Lost the toss and were asked to field first & the setts got off to a flyer being 0/44 after 4 overs with the skipper putting down a chance in the first over . Then we became flat in the field up until the half way drinks break were the Settlers being 1/96.... Our Captain give us a little spray about being pro active in the field more chat etc. It obviously worked because at the end of the 30 overs we had restricted them to 7/151. With some really good efforts in the field from Keeper John Hollywood, Angus Lang & Harlie Graetz. Merbein South Bowling: L.Cavallo 2/18 M.Leask 2/1 C.Dunne 1/26 C.Moore 1/31 So we set of chasing 151 from our 30 overs with M.Lyons & J.Hollywood opening got us to 31. Then we slumped to be 5/64 when L.Cavallo was tragically run out, then 6/79 and as bad as it looked we were still very much in the game with our Skipper Jumbo at the wicket just picking gaps in there field everywhere. At 7/126 when he was out we were still in the game but the loss of 2 quick wickets we sadly fell away to end up on 9/146 falling 5 runs short in the last over. Merbein South Batting: D.James 46 M.Lyons 15 J.Hollywood 13 C.Moore 13 So in saying that skipper Jumbo was full of praise for our future stars in Zac Watson & Campbell Dunne both bowling in crucial stages of there innings but he backed them in which shows great faith in these future Division 1 cricketers for our great club. So we move onto another massive challenge this week in Workers Gol Gol @ Kenny Park again with some quality guys back should put us in good stead. #thesaintskeepmarchingon

07.01.2022 In a closely fought game the girls went down tonight in a game played in great spirit. Workers Gol Gol edged past the total in final overs. The girls will take away some learning from this with some tighter fielding and bowling needed to build pressure. However we witnessed two spectacular catches during the innings by Rennea & Maddie which were the best over the last few seasons of watching. Watch out for a response from the team next week.
