23.01.2022 COVID 19 update Hi all as I'm sure you're aware we have some difficult times ahead. At a committee meeting held this evening it was regretfully decided to postpone our Super Bowls, John Hogg Memorial day and our AGM until further notice. Also as a result our handicap singles have been cancelled and there will be no more social bowls until further notice. The Committee will keep all informed of any further information. Thank you for your understanding during this time and we are looking forward to welcoming all back to our club in the near future. Secretary Jack Anderson

22.01.2022 Last Saturday saw a good turnout with great weather for Watson’s Crab day with the winners for the day being Alan Roberts and Barry Fullerton, with the runners up being Geoff Jones and Allan Johnston. A big thank you to Eric Watson for donating the crabs and putting the day on also a big thank you to all who played. Monday saw another fun night for MJM Barefoot bowls with the winners being Old Tools consisting of Wayne, Ray and Dean and the runners up being Robos team consisting of Rob, Haley and Sally. Tuesday saw a great night for round 5 of Super Bowls with the winning team being Merbein. The ladder top four is Workers Warriors, Pete's Mob, Merbein and Hard Workers.



19.01.2022 Last Saturday saw a pleasant afternoon of social bowls with a number of bowlers both experienced and new enjoying the afternoon. The winners for the day were J. Vigar and M. Long with the runners up being I. Lansdown and J. Braidie. A reminder that we are holding our Australia day Star day on Sunday 26th of January with entry form now on the board. Also we have our Super Bowls commencing on Tuesday the 4th February and all who are interested please put your name on the entry form. Also a reminder that MJM Barefoot bowls recommences on Monday 20th January.

18.01.2022 The Merbein Bowling Club would like to wish all members of our Club and the Bowling community as well as their families well during this time of Isolation. I am sure all of you are keen to get back on the Green and Bowl sooner rather than later. For the mean time stay safe and we will keep all members updated when the current situation passes.

15.01.2022 With a break last weekend from Pennant a number of our bowlers enjoyed a pleasant Saturday afternoon of Social Bowls. The winners for the day were A. Roberts and D. Cordwell with the runners up being J. Braidie and B. Fullerton. This Monday saw another pleasant evening of Barefoot bowls with a twist as all teams were drawn out of a hat. The winners for the night were Jan, Maureen and Peter with the runners up being Haley and Kerrie. This Week sees our Finals of both the Club Singles Championships and the Club 4s championships all the best to all who are in the Finals. Also we have our club Christmas Party on Friday the 13th of December at 5:30 p.m. there is a list on the board for all who are attending for catering purposes.



14.01.2022 Welcome back to our members who have been enjoying Saturday Social games with social distancing. Bowlers have been enjoying games with a twist including 100 up rules and power play ends. The winners for the game last Saturday were S. Jones and O. Rentsch with the runners up being H. Hlassney and D. Maud. Things are starting to look good around the clubhouse with new paint and new carpet going down. A big thank you to all who have helped prepare the clubrooms for the painting and carpeting. Looking forward to seeing more action on the greens in the near future and any fun suggestions on rules for Saturday Social Bowls are welcome.

13.01.2022 Last Monday saw a great evening for our return to MJM barefoot bowls with all bowlers enjoying the evening with fine conditions. The winners for the evening were the 3 Tenors consisting of Luke, Michelle and Kevin with the runners up being Lightning Strikes consisting of Geoff, Luigi and Kerry. Tuesday saw a return to our Super Bowls season for 2020 with all 6 teams enjoying the evening. The winning team for the evening was Workers Warriors the ladder as it stands is Workers Warriors, Pete's Mob, Red Cliffs, Wentworth, Merbein and Hard Workers.

13.01.2022 Last Wednesday saw an enjoyable evening for the Greenhill, Long, Cordwell and Lansdown Christmas Ham trophy night. The winners for the evening were I. Lansdown and L. Wallace with the runners up being O. Rentsch and J. Greenhill. A big thank you to the trophy donors and all who participated. Saturday saw our Division 1 take on Mildura at Irymple for the Grand Final of the pennant season however Mildura were too good for the day. Well done to our division 1 team on making ...the Grand Final after a Successful season. Monday saw our final evening for Barefoot for 2019 with a number of bowlers enjoying the warm conditions with all teams randomly drawn. The winners for the evening were Kevin and The Flash (Michael) with the runners up being Maureen, Kerrie and John. Congratulations to Bryce Midgley and Eric Watson who were both awarded life memberships last weekend. Both have been members for a number of years and have contributed to the club in a number of ways well done and a great achievement. See more

12.01.2022 Well done to Division 1 Last Saturday defeating Irymple in the Preliminary final for 2019 earning a place in the 2019 Pennant Grand Final. Go Hawks on Saturday against Mildura. Wednesday evening saw a return to Social Bowls with the Dichiera & Fullerton Trophy day. The winners for the evening were A. Vigar and G. Wallace with the runners up being S. Pollock and A. Johnston. Monday saw a hot, windy and dusty evening for MJM Barefoot bowls with 18 bowlers braving the weather conditions and enjoying the evening. The winners for the evening were Lightning Strikes consisting of Wayne, Kerry and Geoff with the runners up being MJM consisting of Jan, Bev and John. Don’t forget our Christmas Party this Friday evening at 5 p.m.

12.01.2022 Last Saturday saw a pleasant afternoon for social bowls with the weather not too hot or windy with the winners for the day being Alby Vigar and Eric Watson and the runners up being Bryce Midgley, Gordon Wallace and Jumbo Greenhill. Monday saw a return to our Barefoot bowls with all who attended enjoyed a great evening. The winners for the evening were Old Tools consisting of Ray, Rob and Frank with the runners up being MJM consisting of Bec, Jan and John. Don’t forget our Australia Day Star Day starting at 10 am on Sunday 26th January. The winners for the day were Michael McBain, Gordon Wallace and Darren Cordwell with the runners up being Barry Cramp, Ian Lansdown and Jumbo Greenhill. A big thank you to Life Member Abb Driscoll for putting the day on and to all who supported his day. Monday saw another fun evening for MJM barefoot bowls with Tied winners of Kookaburras consisting of Kerry, Narelle and Lorraine and MJM consisting of Bev, Jan and John. With Runners up being Robo’s team consisting of Sally, Rob and KB and NBG consisting of Luke, Michelle and Kevin. Tuesday saw a fun evening for round 4 of Super Bowls with the winning team for the evening being Workers Warriors. Don’t forget the Watson Crab day this Saturday. 09.01.2022 Hoping all bowlers enjoyed their Christmas and New Year period. 2020 Started off Last Sunday with the Annual Tasco, Bildstien cup. Although the weather wasn’t the best for the day all enjoyed the day. After close finals the results ended up with the winners being P. Mitchell, O. Giddings, M. Legin and S. Pupillo with the runners up being S. Fullerton, F. Giuno, I. Lowes and B. Fullerton and 3rd Place being J. Binding, B. Midgley, O. Rentsch and E. Watson. A big Thank you to Tasco Petroleum for sponsoring the event and a big thank you to all teams who entered. We were saddened over the Christmas period at the passing of Member Hazel Bell and the club sends condolences to Ron and the Family. A reminder that the Super Bowls are beginning on Tuesday the 4th of February and all who are interested please enter your name.

08.01.2022 Hoping all bowlers enjoyed the long weekend. Last Saturday saw a pleasant afternoon for social bowls with a number of bowlers turning up for the day. The winners for the day were Michael McBain and Eric Watson with the runners up being Alby Vigar, Jack Braidie and Bryce Midgley. Monday saw a weeks rest for MJM Barefoot Bowls due to the long weekend however MJM Barefoot will be back again next Monday. Congratulations to Lorraine Wallace and Gail Farnsworth on winning the district Ladies pairs well done and a great achievement. Also congratulations to David Maud on winning the club 100 up championship. Don’t forget to enter in the Braidie, Willcock and Jones trophy day on Saturday.

07.01.2022 Last Saturday saw the final game of pennant for the home and away season for 2019. Division 1 took on Ouyen at Merbein winning the day at the Hawks nest. Division 3 had a tough day at Mildura going down to Mildura on their home ground with Merbein division 1 finishing 2nd on the Ladder and finishing 4th for Division 3. All the best for those in the Finals next weekend. Congratulations to Max Long on winning the final of the club singles championships with Laurie McLaine r...unner up. Congratulations to E. Watson, B. Midgley, G. Wallace and J. Binding on winning the club 4’s championships with I. Lansdown, J. Greenhill, D. Cordwell and D. Maud coming runners up. Monday saw another enjoyable evening for MJM Automotive barefoot bowls with the winners for the evening being Robo' s Team consisting of Rob, Haley and Peter and with 4 teams all equal runners up. 06.01.2022 Last Thursday saw an enjoyable final day of Vets Pennant held at the Merbein Bowling Club. Well done to all who played throughout the season. Last Saturday saw both division 1 and 3 participate in the pennant Finals. Division 1 travelled to Mildura to play in the qualifying final however Mildura were too good for Merbein on the day all the best against Irymple this coming Saturday. Division 3 travelled to Nangiloc however after a hard fought battle Nangiloc were too good on the day. Monday saw another enjoyable evening for the MJM Automotive barefoot bowls with the winners for the evening being 3B's consisting of John, Maureen and Peter and the runners up being Kookaburras consisting of Kerrie, Lorraine, Narelle and Luigi. Don’t forget our Christmas Party on Friday 13th December.

06.01.2022 Last Saturday saw a good turnout for the Davey & Anderson Trophy day with 24 players taking to the field. The winners for the day were Jack Braidie, Wayne Long and Gordon Wallace with the runners up being Les Willcock, Alby Vigar and Max Long a big thank you to all who played and to those who donated to the day. Monday saw a great turnout for MJM Barefoot Bowls with the winners for the evening being MJM consisting of Bev, Jan and John with the runners up being The Three Tenors consisting of Michelle, Julie and Damo. Tuesday saw a windy evening for Super Bowls however good fun was had by all who played in the competition. The winning team for the evening were Workers Warriors. Don't forget the Abb Driscoll trophy day this Saturday.

03.01.2022 Last Saturday saw both divisions play at The Merbein Hawks nest with Division 1 taking on Mildura at home and Division 3 taking on Wentworth at home. In a close battle Division 1 were unable to get over the line but still maintain 2nd spot on the ladder while Division 3 had a good win over Wentworth. Monday saw a warm and enjoyable evening for MJM Barefoot Bowls with a number of players taking to the field. The winners for the evening were Lightning Strikes consisting of Sony, Kerry and Geoff with the runners up being 2b's & Robo' s Team consisting of John, Peter, Rob and Haley. The Club 4’s have been drawn with the draw on the board. Also with no pennant this week there are social bowls on this Saturday for anyone interested in playing.

Monday saw another fun ...evening for the MJM Barefoot bowls. A big thank you to MJM for sponsoring the event. 01.01.2022 Covid 19 update. Things have been happening around the club at the moment with our new carpet and paint making the clubhouse look like new again. Unfortunately due to the recent outbreaks of covid 19 we have regretfully had to close the club to all events until further notice. Thanks to all who have helped out with the carpet and painting and all who have been enjoying the games of social bowls during the last few weeks. Hope all members and their families keep safe during this covid break and we look forward to seeing everyone on the green soon.
