24.01.2022 Old Scholars in Matrics Netball triumph Congratulations to Lauren Frew (Class of 2019) and Sophie Westover (Class of 2018) who were members of the victorious Matrics Reserves team who won the premiership at the weekend. Lauren was the Most Valuable Player in the successful Reserves team with Matrics taking out both the League and Reserves Premierships.



24.01.2022 Flashback Friday Today we pay tribute to former teacher Mrs June Schaeffer who sadly passed away earlier this month. Mrs Schaeffer was a very popular Latin teacher during the 1960s at Mercedes.... She is pictured here (middle row, 6th from the left) with the staff in 1966.

19.01.2022 Flashback Friday Today we celebrated Mercy Day and I am delighted to share the news of the Mercy Award recipient - old scholar Henry Parham. Henry graduated in 1998 and and has spent many years working all over the world in policy analysis, high-level advocacy and campaign coordination at an international level in the field of conflict resolution, peace-building, anti-corruption and human rights. ... His is currently in Melbourne studying a Masters degree in Teaching. What an exceptional teacher he will make and what a worthy recipient he is! We flashback to Henry at school in 1998, with Jess Wadsworth at the 2018 IB Awards presentation, with Desmond Tutu and with Year 11 students in 2014.

Not only are the current Men's and Women's teams on show, you will also have the opportunity to see many of our past players don the green and white for a Legends Game.

14.01.2022 Luke Ebbs - good news story Luke Ebbs (Class of 2004) is the Country Director of Save the Children in Vanuatu and last week he signed a funding agreement with the Ministry of Education and Training in Vanuatu to provide $US1.25 million in funding from the Global Partnership for Education for programs that will support the education continuity of children across the country who are frequently impacted by disasters, most recently Tropical Cyclone Harold and COVID 19. From Luke:... "This is a wholly government driven program supported by Save the Children and made possible by the Global Partnership for Education. I'm really proud to be a part of it." And MOSA is really proud of Luke!

11.01.2022 Flashback Friday Last weekend marked the culmination of our Intercol competition with St Ignatius' College. It was a very exciting competition this year with Mercedes winning overall - 12 shields to 11. We flashback to Intercol in 2015 and feature our Open Boys' Basketball team and Year 9 Football team.... Our Cross Country shields are named after old scholars Kym Hughes (Chamberlain, Class of 1983), Melinda Stone (McCullough, Class of 1998) and Matt Dineen (Class of 2004) and they were on hand this year to present the shields.

11.01.2022 MOSA Netball Premiers-Congratulations! Well done to our MOSA Netball team who won a premiership last Saturday defeating PHOS Camden 31-27 in the B1 Grand Final of the SAUCNA competition. The girls capped off a fantastic season with a brilliant team effort on the day.

10.01.2022 Bree Hargrave (Class of 2002) 'Bree defies age barrier' Bree featured in a great article by Ben Hook in yesterday's Sunday Mail.... At 37 she is hitting peak form as she pursues her dream of an Olympic cycling gold meal for Australia. Since August she has won Adelaide Track League events in the keirin (1.5km) and 2 scratch races (30 km) at meets either side of her win in the 97km SA Road Race defeating many Australian representatives along the way. And last month she added a world class flying 200m ride of 11.1 seconds. We wish Bree all the best in her bid for selection in the Australian Cycling Team.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to our Mercedes Old Collegiates' Women's Soccer team who finished top of the league after defeating Ingle Farm 4-2 yesterday. It was a fantastic game with the girls coming from 2-1 down to snatch a great victory. Well done to the whole team and a big shout out to Alasdair Rogers - a champion coach of a champion team!

05.01.2022 Bondar Wines - 'Cheers to New Beginnings' Andre Bondar (Class of 1994) and Selina Bondar (Kelly, Class of 2000) were featured in last Saturday's Advertiser with news of the opening of their new communal Cellar Door in McLaren Vale. "148 McMurtrie Road" officially opened its doors at the weekend and will house Bondar Wines along with two other wineries.... The historic sandstone cottage has been transformed into a Cellar Door with each of the 3 wineries having their own room and aesthetic. The Cellar Door is open daily so lets support our old scholars in business and get along and taste some of the beautiful Bondar wines.
