24.01.2022 These are our ridiculously pretty block printed umbrellas from Jaipur, India. The size of a large beach umbrella, and so portable as well, these guys will shed cool & welcome shade whilst looking MOST divine! Garden parties, Christmas Day, baby showers, picnic races - the list of possible events is endless. Each umbrella comes with its own calico carry bag and is 1.5m diameter. Priced at $595 each (and worth every cent), there are now only three left (pink, blue & green).... And because they’re too big for Australia Post, please don’t look for them online!! 22.01.2022 Our dear friend @r_josephcorkhill_country_nsw has the most amazing country garden. Famously so. And tucked down at the back of that beautiful garden is a wonderful old barn that Joseph, being Joseph, has resurrected and decorated so that it is THE place to be invited for drinks, afternoon tea or a party. Joseph’s eye is that of a talented artist. With a gift, both in the garden and inside, of seemingly effortlessly putting together colour and form to create images, scenes a...nd vistas that are a delight to the eye and a salve to the soul, Joseph’s skills as a garden designer are in hot demand. Joseph’s garden, together with the stunning garden of the very clever @fleur_flanery and our garden at home are part of the last day of the inimitable @trishadixonburkitt ‘s current garden tour following the Murrumbidgee north from the Victorian border, the Not the Melbourne Cup Tour! Finishing on Friday in the Yass district Joseph, Fleur & I and our families will be hosting Trisha’s lovely guests in our gardens. We’re all praying for good weather!! This pic was taken in Joseph’s fantastic barn. That’s one of our lovely Bishnoi rugs on the floor. Thanks @r_josephcorkhill_country_nsw for sharing! Only available instore, with each one a one-off, our Bishnoi rugs are made from wool and cotton or jute and are really well-priced. #ginandtonicsinthebarn #barninspo #barndreaming #gardendesign #trishadixontours #trishadixonburkitt #visitregionalnsw #visityassvalley #bishnoi #woolrugs #gardentours #countrygardens

22.01.2022 Tumult brooms. Make a boring job very, very satisfying. Do you have millions of really irritating tiny black insects simply everywhere? We do and they’re DREADFUL! But, my Tumut broom rises to the occasion, coming to the rescue and sweeps away those pesky creatures (and those fallen rose petals). What a tool!! New stock instore now, including shed brooms, caravan brooms, hand brooms and the fabulous 6-string you-beaut, everyday, all-singing, all-dancing broom. ... #tumutbrooms #cleansweep #merchantcampbell #madebypeoplenotfactories #sourcedglobalbroughtlocal #visityassvalley #buylocal #shopsmall #bushbusiness# #visitregionalnsw #gardentool #bloodybugs

20.01.2022 We’ve been busily unpacking our marble and stone bowls and they’re just gorgeous! Solid and sturdy and classical in design, I love these pieces. The stone in this beautiful bowl is the pink stone found around Jodhpur, and is the same stone used to build most of the buildings around the Pink City. Because these pieces are so big & heavy and we only have one or two of them, they’re not online, but contact the shop if you’re interested. ... I’m going to find it hard to return this piece to the shop! #stonebowls #carvedmarble #gardeninspo #madebypeoplenotfactories #sourcedglobalbroughtlocal #visityassvalley #shopsmall #buyfromthebush #bushbusiness

18.01.2022 This season has been extraordinary. There’s simply no other word for it. We’re all a bit gun-shy after so many years of drought, and after a couple of weeks of no rain and some very hot weather, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who was starting to dread summer. But then Hughie was kind to us and down she came, letting our spirits again. I’ll never, ever tire of the sound of gentle rain in our tin roof. Sheer bliss. As a result of this beautiful, and at times, heavy rain, a ...lot of flowers have fallen over, including these artichokes. Waste not, want not, I say so inside they’ve come. What about those flowers?! Aren’t they magical? And the colours?? So gorgeous! You should see the artichoke flowers at the shop - they’ve opened to the most startling, Ceylonese sapphire blue. Simply breathtaking. I’ll have to get a photo and share. #artichokeflowers #countrygarden #waterwisegardening #merchantcampbell #sourcedglobalbroughtlocal #madebypeoplenotfactories #visitregionalnsw #visityassvalley

13.01.2022 The work that goes into producing these seriously beautiful tablecloths is huge. Over eight different timber blocks are intricately carved by specialist block carvers, then pigment dyes are mixed by specialist dye makers, the cotton fabric is then printed - one tablecloth at a time. And then the cloths are washed and ironed - by hand. This is not mass production in a factory - rather, small batch making by artisans who learnt their trade from their forebears and their fore...bears before them. As always, we have limited stock. #madebypeoplenotfactories #sourcedglobalbroughtlocal #blockprinttablecloth #outdoorentertaining #visitregionalnsw #visityassvalley #interiorstyling #diningroom

08.01.2022 Happy Monday, everyone!! This morning’s harvest thrilled me to bits. Thank you, rain and (mostly) mild weather!! The rain that’s fallen over the past months has been the best gift any of us on the land could have asked for. With years of drought and bushfires to recover from, many farmers were wondering how much longer they could keep going. Emotionally, physically and financially exhausted, this season with its bountiful rain has proved such a salve for weary souls an...d parched paddocks, dams and waterways. But don’t think that just because it’s rained (a lot) that everyone is out of the woods. Years of failed crops & feeding stock has depleted equity and farmers need more than just one good year to recover. If you’re an urban dweller, thank you for your support for our bush businesses over the past year. It’s been a life line for so many of us and we are thankful from the bottom of our hearts. But, please don’t stop supporting us - your encouragement and support of our regional enterprises is still needed as we venture forward into this new world order with all its challenges and change. And if you’re wondering, those asparagus are really past their best - they’ll be coming out soon and new crowns will go in! And I’ve found a couple of beautiful broad bean recipes in @juliaostro ‘s gorgeous book, A Year of Simple Family Food - new bigilla crostini AND broad bean salad with mint and pecorino. Decisions, decisions! #merchantcampbell #sourcedglobalbroughtlocal #bushbusiness #visitruralandregionalaustralia #visityassvalley #farmlife #vegetablegarden

03.01.2022 How clever is this? Perfect for a table centrepiece or for the mantel, these are gorgeous old timber brick moulds from India, or sanchas, as they’re called over there. We’ve got quite a few sanchas in the shop - and they’ll be going online soon too. At $35 each of $60 for a double one (which is twice as long), they’re terrific for flower arranging or just holding stuff. @helsie_lou rose to the challenge and whipped up this arrangement in no time, clever puss. Don’t you ...just love it - the perennial flower arrangement. And a recycled butter container or three is the perfect insert to hold water, by the way! #merchantcampbell #sourcedglobalbroughtlocal #shopsmall #shoplocal #madebypeoplenotfactories #sancha #flowerarranging ##recycledmaterials
