23.01.2022 The Mercure Penrith team enjoyed a fantastic day at the Back to Business Luncheon at Panthers Penrith. Listening to the Treasurer Hon Josh Frydenberg speak about the latest federal budget and how Australia has faired in the pandemic. Also, Melissa Macintosh MP spoke about our local area and our economy. We really need to be proud of our country and how well we have managed this global crisis. What a privileged it is too be an Australian.

23.01.2022 With so many sights and attractions Penrith has too offer, one of our favorites would have to be the Nepean Belle. 'the Belle' as she is affectionately known, was launched in October 1982 and run by the Wakeling family for 32 years. The idea of operating a large paddlewheeler along the Nepean River at Penrith first came to John and Helen Wakeling when they moved into the area in 1976. When the search for a suitable boat to buy proved unsuccessful they decided to build on...e themselves. The appearance of the Nepean Belle is modeled on the Mississippi sternwheelers, though it has side wheels and two non-functioning smoke stacks. The paddlewheels are independent, each having their own engine which enables the boat to turn around in her own length. Local residents, Chris and Carol Bennett purchased the Nepean Belle Paddlewheeler in October 2013 and operate to this day. Maintaining the quality of service and food that the Belle was well known for, for many years. The Nepean Belle is a romantic old-world style Paddlewheeler. Reflecting the grace and charm of yesteryear. With sites of The Blue Mountains National Park and the stunning Napean River. This is a must do and see when visiting Penrith https://www.nepeanbelle.com.au/ See more

02.01.2022 Proudly displaying this magnificent artwork and honouring the original custodians of the land for NAIDOC week. The artwork has been created by local Indigenous Artist, Leanne Watson. Mercure Penrith is situated on on Darug land and therefore the history is much a part of our cultural background. "Darug land is from the Hawkesbury River in the North to Appin in the south, from the Blue Mountains in the... West to the ocean in the East. is from the Hawkesbury River in the North to Appin in the south, from the Blue Mountains in the West to the ocean in the East. The area in Penrith is Darug land and the Clan land of the Mulgoa people, the painting represents the Nepean River with the Bara (Eel) that is our creation story. The area that the Mercure is located is shown as a meeting place as this area was traditionally a place where many groups came together to share knowledge and resources. The Nepean River is known all across many traditional lands for the stones that are used to make stone tools including axes, scrapers, spear points and hammers. There are traditional walking pathways across the river in close proximity to the Mercure, there is shallow places to cross the river and also collect tool making resources. The Mulgoa clan name comes from the black swan (Mulgo) this area is culturally significant because it is a nesting place for the Mulgo, surrounded by Casuarina trees that were used as a medicine for toothache by Darug people, Casuarina trees are also known traditionally as a place for children to wait if they became lost as they can be easily seen under the trees as there is no growth around them, snakes do not go on the fallen leaves of the Casuarina. Along the bottom of the painting is Lamandra, the seeds of the lamandra are crushed and used as a flour and the reeds are used for weaving baskets, bags and fishing nets. The painting gives a snapshot of the Darug significance of the area that the Mercure is located showing some of the traditional resources and cultural significance" Leanne Watson
