25.01.2022 A colleague of mine mentioned that actors are one of the only professions that don’t value ongoing training. Now, before you disagree, ask yourself how many unprepared, lazy actors have you met? ‘Talent’ is not enough. Come and try some training in the Suzuki Actor Training Method.
24.01.2022 The Suzuki Actor Training Method is a powerful training system, that produces empowered, grounded and self-defined actors. Workshops will start again at Coomera Tafe in term 4. Contact Mercury's Wings for details.
23.01.2022 Some shots from the improv section of today’s workshop at Coomera Tafe. A great session. Some new actors having a go, testing their courage on something out of their comfort zone.
23.01.2022 Over the years I have worked with some amazing women! Shout out the powerful women of Mercury’s Wings and woman who inspires me daily! Claudine Anderson
23.01.2022 Byron and northern NSW friends, we are coming to you!! Mercury's Wings is looking forward to performing in the beautiful space in Byron Bay in 2020. I saw a show in this intimate space earlier this year and fell in love with the venue.
22.01.2022 A little taste of what we do. It is much more varied than this, but the stomping remains one of the most misunderstood aspects of the training. From the MIT Global Shakespeare site: The Suzuki method of acting, developed by Tadashi Suzuki, is one of the most commonly taught acting methods in the United States. It has been taught at schools such as Julliard and Columbia and has been gaining popularity with the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Suzuki method works to build an actor’s awareness of his body, especially his center. The method uses exercises that are inspired by Greek theater and martial arts and require great amounts of energy and concentration. They result in the actor becoming more aware of his natural expressiveness and allow him to commit more fully to the physical and emotional requirements of acting.

17.01.2022 Over the isolation period we gave some of our creative friends a challenge. A Shakespearean monologue that responds to the times we find ourselves in. This is Tymyka Wines who played Harper in our production of Thursday's Child last year. (Seems like a lifetime ago!)
17.01.2022 Term 4 training. The Suzuki Actor Training Method combines voice, movement and acting to create self definition in the performer. If you want to be more dynamic and self-defined click the link.
17.01.2022 Another video from the Isolation Shakespeare series. This our good friend Dr Patrick Mitchell. We have been blessed to have his guidance for a number of years a...nd also his performances in The Tempest and Thursday's Child. He is a tower of knowledge and kindness and has a boundless energy for theatre and actors. See more
15.01.2022 There’s a bluebird in my heart...we will be OK...
14.01.2022 This project gave us a chance to see a wide variety of people experience Shakespeare. This is our friend Kendal Woodhams, one the cast of Thursday’s Child, our second show at Coomera Tafe. Thanks to Bailey Seymour-Smith for the editing.
14.01.2022 A shot from Paris!
13.01.2022 Great session yesterday with OzFrank. NSP - Nobbs/Suzuki Praxis. I am lucky enough to be going to Switzerland this year for a symposium on the method. Whilst there I hope to do some work on a new Sarah Kane project. Psychosis 4:48.
13.01.2022 Tickets available soon!
13.01.2022 The work has begun! We are proud to be working with The Smith Collective on this project. We are very excited to activate The Oculus water feature space! Go and check it out, it is really cool! It is at the athletes village from the Comm Games, there are coffee shops, barbers, restaurants etc and some beautiful grounds!
13.01.2022 Tomorrow is the Mo-Stomp! We are stomping for Men's Health tomorrow morning at Coomera Tafe. Please think about donating to men's health throughout Movember. Or..., just ask a mate/male friend how they are or if they need a hand. Many men go silent for years, and don't get the emotional support they need to function effectively in the world. See more
12.01.2022 Dear All, We are seeking some support for out next production. Unfortunately we missed out on some funding and we are seeking your support. Mercury's Wings h...as been on the Gold Coast for 16 years and is run almost exclusively by volunteers. During that time we have supported many local artists, actors, dancers and musicians. We would love to continue to do that in this post Covid landscape. Any support will be greatly appreciated. With thanks, James See more
12.01.2022 A little something from today. Why not connect with us on Instagram? The text reads "remember the arts workers who did not get funding they are just as valuable as the footy players"
11.01.2022 This past weekend we said goodbye to our friend Jann Alcorn. She worked with us on a number of productions, one of which was Samuel Beckett's Endgame, below. She was a marvel. She touched our lives and she will be missed.
10.01.2022 Hey fellow teachers! I know we just got back to school, but what time to book for your first show!
05.01.2022 Getting creative with hand sanitiser...
05.01.2022 This fine young man has been a part of Mercury's Wings for many years. Before that I had the pleasure of being his Drama and English teacher. He is a talented actor, film maker and a fine young man. Wishing you a Happy Birthday dood! Coupla doods, sittin' on the stairway!
