25.01.2022 The Year 7 Market Garden produced a lot of organic vegetables last term with the guiding green thumbs of Mrs Gall and the Yr 7 helpers. Produce included tomatoes, cucumbers, bok choy, lettuce, snap peas, kale, silver beet, cabbage and corn. Students will continue to work in the garden next term.

24.01.2022 STEM is back! Dancing Robots, Robo Cup and Course Navigating Robots Ms Sandra Bayliss, Head of Teaching & Learning at Mercy College organised and hosted the Mackay Junior Robotics Competition held on Wednesday 16 September. Many thanks to competing schools, CQUni & Company Sponsors.

23.01.2022 This term the Vinnies Committee have been fundraising for Mercy Works and decided to direct the money raised to the Katrilosa Community Centre for the Disabled Project in Timor-Leste. With over 250 children, youth and adults with disabilities receiving support through the Community Centre, it is a place where these children and families interact with one another and build critical support networks. At Mercy Day Mass this morning they were pleased to present a donation of $3200 to Sr Denise on behalf of Mercy Works.

13.01.2022 A huge congratulations to Peter, founder of You're the Boss, who prepares to pitch one last time in the Future Anything Grand Final this Friday. To support and vote for Peter, please register for the livestreamed event via the website https://events.humanitix.com/2020-national-grand-final While the girls of heART did not get through to this final stage of the competition, their Semi-Final pitch was well-received by the judging panel and awarded runner up for their heat. Well done to both teams for embracing this opportunity - fabulous to see students thinking big and stepping up!

13.01.2022 The Year 9 Sport & Recreation class have enjoyed learning about the game of croquet at the Mackay Croquet Club as part of their HPE Unit this term. It was fantastic to have so many of the members come down to assist with coordinating the lessons.

11.01.2022 Students in Miss McCowan’s Economics and Businesses classes recently participated in the Suncorp ESSI Money Challenge; an interactive, online financial literacy game. The Challenge is based on a ‘virtual reality’ where students experience and develop an understanding of how decisions over a period of time can have both positive and negative impacts on their financial situation. 08.01.2022 This Friday 18 September we will celebrate Mercy Day. Mercy Day is the anniversary of the opening of the first House of Mercy, in Baggot Street Dublin and is an opportunity to remember and observe the work of mercy by Venerable Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy.
