23.01.2022 VCE Music On Wednesday evening the VCE Music Class performed their Unit 2 Solo Performance Recitals. Across the semester, each student, with expert guidance from their instrumental teachers, prepared a 15 minute solo recital, comprising an unaccompanied piece/song and a number of accompanied pieces/songs, showcasing a variety of styles. The recitals last night were the culmination of the students' hard work and passion for Music Performance.

23.01.2022 Mercy College families might find the below interactive session helpful, as we all navigate this difficult period of change.

22.01.2022 It has been another productive term for the VCE Music students at Mercy College. Part of the VCE Music curriculum requires students to complete a live performance as part of an ensemble. Obviously, that has been quite difficult to do this year, and so the VCE Music class have completed a virtual group performance instead. Students recorded their individual parts along to a piano backing track, and then these were expertly edited and mixed by Mr Fuhrmeister. Please enjoy the VCE Music Class’ rendition of ‘Don’t Ever’ written by Australian singer-songwriter Missy Higgins.

22.01.2022 On Thursday afternoon the Year 10 Music Performance class performed their solo recitals. Each student played three contrasting works, showcasing a range of techniques and styles. With very little live performance opportunities this semester, the girls certainly rose to the occasion producing wonderful and diverse programs of music.

21.01.2022 YEAR 4 EXPLORE Today we hosted a number of Year 4 students from our neighbouring primary schools. The purpose of the day was to experience some aspects of Mercy College for a day. In one of the classes students explored the use of the design element "shape" to create a visual image that communicates. Using the concept of an emoji, the students then had to use shape only to create their own personalised emoji.

19.01.2022 Managing Lockdown Fatigue Lockdown fatigue is a state of exhaustion associated with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes we have had to make to many aspects of our lives. Students and other individuals in the Mercy College community have demonstrated enormous resilience during such challenging times. However, such resilience does not mean we are immune to lockdown fatigue. We need to remember that what we are going through in Victoria at the moment is a shared human experience and we are not alone in feeling this way. We will get through it all together.

19.01.2022 Today, our Year 8 students are continuing with their week long E.I.G.H.T. program. Yesterday they 'investigated' their self-made inquiry question. Staff were very impressed by the high levels of focus, curiosity, and depth that was sought by the cohort. The girls are beginning to shape their inquiry so that they they attempt to find answers to very challenging questions. Great work, girls!

18.01.2022 Today, Tuesday 15th September, would have been the annual Creative Arts Concert, held at Darebin Arts Centre. The performances demonstrate the enormous talent and passion we have for the Performing Arts here at Mercy College. We're looking forward to sharing our love of the Performing and Visual Arts with the wider Mercy Community again next year! Please enjoy some pictures from last year's Creative Arts Concert.

It is an opportunity for students to show what they have learned over many years of schooling and particularly, in their last year of secondary education. They will have 15 minutes in which to read the paper and three hours in which to complete three written responses two focusing on texts which they have studied and one analysing a persuasive piece. They have overcome many challenges in 2020 and now they face their final English assessment. We sincerely wish them well today and for the future.

Past students have fond memories of their talented and caring teacher and are happy to know that ‘Miss Mosca’ is still teaching at Mercy today. Hi Miss Mosca, Vanessa Cassar , you along with Mr Halfpenny were my favourite teachers. I had you for Geography from 1992-1995, and because of you I grew a love for... maps and became a Cartographer. I am actually surprised reading the comments that you were teaching from 1979, I had always thought of you as a young teacher Hi Miss Mosca. Emilia Laino I was in 7 white in 1980. You were my home room teacher and also for other subjects. As daunting as secondary school can be, you made it such an easy transition with your beautiful, calm and caring nature. I loved all your classes. A great mentor and role model. Hi Miss Mosca. Claudia Russo. What a beautiful lady you were and still are. You taught me geography in Year 7, 1983. I decided to be a teacher because of your positive influence! Such an inspiration. My maiden name is Claudia Mercuri and I was at Mercy College from 1983 until 1986. Best years ever. All the best to you xxxx Hi Miss Mosca from Katie Manalo (2013-18)! Remember when you said you'd retire once the green lining of your container fully broke off? I was super relieved you hadn't and put it away before it did - I really enjoyed having you as a teacher.
