After plastic reconstructive surgery on board the Africa Mercy and several weeks of rehab, she has restored function in her leg. The road to get there wasn't easy, but Diama's resilience never faltered. She put in the hard work and is now reaping the benefits! 06.01.2022 Dr. Rokhaya Thiam recently established Senegal’s first non-profit palliative care association that delivers direct patient care. Her passion for palliative care stems from a very personal journey, during which she experienced both caring for, and losing, a loved one. Dr. Thiam was one of thirty-two local health care professionals who participated in our Palliative Care Course, which was offered for the first time during the Africa Mercy’s field service in Senegal.
