25.01.2022 Pesto is a brilliant way to add herbs + greens into your diet which are so therapeutic - basil commonly used in pesto has a range of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds #foodismedicine I often encourage my clients to make some pesto each week and keep it in the fridge. Stir through pasta for a quick meal or add as a sauce to lift a meal, or bring a nourish bowl together Pesto can easily be made low FODMAP (just use garlic infused evoo instead of garlic) ... #endometriosiswarrior #foodismedicine #pesto #endometriosisdiet #endodiet #nutritionist #clinicalnutritionist #evoo #endometriosis #womenshealth #adenomyosis #simplefood #lowfodmap #irritablebowelsyndrome #gutfriendly #eatyourgreens #basil #antiinflammatory #ahealthynut #wholefoods #jerf See more

23.01.2022 Do you have a mixed bag of symptoms that never seem to improve despite trying every IBS diet out there? Consider histamine intolerance... Histamine intolerance occurs when the body struggles to breakdown histamine in the diet due to deficiencies in digestive enzymes such as DAO Symptoms can vary but can include headaches, excess mucous, bloating, heart palpitations, flushing and fatigue... What causes histamine intolerance? Hormone imbalances are one cause. When estrogen is in excess, histamine also increases There's a greater chance of histamine intolerance with IBS, SIBO and dysbiosis (imbalanced gut flora) Mutation of the MTHFR gene may also play a role Certain medications can block DAO / release excess histamine Chronic stress Just following a low histamine diet won't fix the problem long term. As always it's about finding and addressing the root cause Do you have histamine intolerance? Or suspect you have it? #histamine #histamineintolerance #SIBO #sibodiet #nutritionist #estrogen #hormoneimbalances #hormones #irritablebowelsyndrome #ibsdiet #bloating #endobelly #endometriosisdiet #mthfr #nutrigenomics #bloatedbelly #foodintolerance #digestivehealth

16.01.2022 5 reasons to eat your greens everyday: 1. They're a good source of magnesium which can help with pain 2. Cruciferous veg (broccoli, kale, brussel sprouts, cabbage etc) support estrogen metabolism which in turn can help with PMS and hormone dependent conditions such as endometriosis... 3. Spinach, broccoli and other cruciferous veg are good sources of vitamin E and C which can help decrease period pain 4. Some greens such as avocado and broccoli are rich in glutathione a powerful antioxidant 5. Dark leafy greens are a source of calcium which isn't just needed for healthy bones, low calcium can contribute to fatigue and PMS On my plate are leafy greens, cauliflower hash and a poachie #eatyourgreens #pms #hormones #endowarriors #endometriosis #endodiet #endometriosisdiet #periodpain #periodsbelike #endobelly #fertility #nutritionalmedicine #brisbanenutritionist #womenshealth #pcos #greens #fibroids #estrogen #clinicalnutritionist #onmyplate

10.01.2022 Unless you're vegetarian including 3 serves of low mercury fish per week, in addition to regular intake of plant based sources such as chia, flax and hemp seeds, is a great way to get healthy fats - aka omega 3 fats in your diet. But they can also help with depression, and are shown to be preventative aga...inst a range of diseases. Some species of low mercury, high omega 3 fatty acid fish / seafood are easier to find than you think - and tinned varieties are fine to eat as well. 06.01.2022 Eating food prepared at home is one of the single best things you can do for your health. It sounds obvious, but takeaway food is so easily accessible for most, it makes it an attractive choice. But most restaurants make food to taste good - not necessarily to be good for you. Do you struggle with making home cooked meals? Here are some tips: Keep it simple i.e. veggie pasta, soup, a slow-cooker meal, or a traybake... Remember that habits take time to change, so go slowly - start with swapping 1 takeaway meal per week with a home cooked meal.
