07.01.2022 97-year-old Jack Bartlett from Avoca Beach has started a new local Anzac tradition - being honoured by neighbours in his street Chief Petty Officer Bartlet...t served in the Pacific onboard HMAS Manoora during World War II. He made his first solo appearance outside his home last Anzac Day, due to COVID restrictions. Today, more than 50 people informally gathered along Chapman Crescent to applaud him again. Jack brought along his Commemorative Medallion to show the crowd, which he received to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII. "I look at the children. That's what we went to war for" he said.
