07.01.2022 Another beautiful day for a hiking recon of Mt Abrupt. Thought it was about time we gave Mt Abrupt some scrutiny in regards to accessibility for the mule and eq...uipment, recognition of where the challenging areas are and geo tagging them, possible areas for a helicopter lift should there be a need for a stretcher lift out, and an over all assessment of the track itself. Certainly a challenging hike up in some areas, a few of these pictures will give you some idea. The steps are going to be the challenge for sure, lots of them and steep ascending.(not great on the knees) But l am told the view from the top is magic. Certainly proves a point, the more we travel these tracks the better prepared we will be for any search or rescue event that may arise. Next week possibly Cassidy’s Gap. 05.01.2022 It’s on again

04.01.2022 **RESTORATION WORKS HAVE STARTED - DUNKELD ARBORETUM DAM WALL** Council would like to advise residents in Dunkeld that works have commenced on the reinstatement... of the Dunkeld Arboretum Dam Wall that was damaged in the 2016 floods. The project is being delivered in partnership with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning through National Disaster Relief Funding arrangements. Major construction works include de-watering of the dam, construction of a new spillway, re-strengthening of the upstream embankment, removal of trees along the upstream embankment, removal of the existing jetty and relocation of the existing pump infrastructure. The project is due to be completed by the end of April 2020, subject to weather conditions. Council thanks the community for their patience and cooperation while we complete these important works. 04.01.2022 It is with much regret that the Serra Terror Committee has made the difficult decision to postpone the Serra Terror XI until 2022. In light of the continuing ...uncertainty surrounding Covid 19, constantly changing regulations and the preparation that goes into an event of this scale, we have decided our energies are better spent making Serra Terror in 2022 greater than ever, rather than face the possibility of having to postpone again with little notice. A number of other events throughout Victoria have also made this decision and given that our participant demographic is ever widening and drawing from other states, as well as locally, we feel that this is a prudent choice. We hope that that 2021 is a year of better tidings for us all. Any updates will be posted to our Facebook page and an email will be sent to all participants regarding the event in 2022 later next year. Hope to see you all in the mountains in June 2022.
