25.01.2022 This weekend sees the Wethers taking on Stockton Sharks at the Rose Bowl in the final match before the halfway mark of the season. The games against the Sharks are always tough and entertaining so expecting more of the same tomorrow as we look to continue our recent string of good results. A big thanks to Taylors Kitchens who are our match day sponsor this round. If you want or need any quality kitchen and cabinet design and installation be sure to get in touch with Craig or Mitch who have been great supporters of the Wethers in the past couple of years.

25.01.2022 The Wethers 2020 Reserve Grade side started off as the unknowns with basically every player being new to the club. After a slow start the lads eventually put in several good games and finished the season a much better team than the ladder suggested. Keeper Brodie Lee captained the side and was a constant voice and presence at the back. Brandon Jay was the only returning player in the side for the first few games and continued his running and hassling style from last season. ...Jaidyn Lee had a strong season at the back despite some niggles and picked up the players player award while Joshua Maitland always put in the big efforts and collected the coaches player of the year award. Some highlights during the year included Phinda Khumalo scoring a 35 yard missile (clubs goal of the year) followed by a great goal celebration, Luke Jôb constant attacking forays from centre back and Jack-William Hazelhurst putting one in from the sideline in the last round plus making the postseason afternoon memorable. Next season is looking promising with the boys having had a season to gel and coach Barry back to help push them to better things.

25.01.2022 Cracking day out at Corroba Oval as the Wethers take on Stockton. Hoping to repeat last rounds clean sweep. 35’s take on suburbs at 2.30. #wethers #newcastlefootball #matchday #zoneleague

24.01.2022 Happy fathers day from the Wethers! Enjoy this lovely Sunday celebration for all dad’s out there, especially quite a few of our players enjoying their first one this year. Keep up the great work

24.01.2022 Another new addition to he Wethers sponsor crew this season was Dr Tim Wright from Newcastle Obesity Surgery. A huge thanks to Dr Tim for getting behind the club and hopefully may see him grace the 35's field with us next season. www.newcastleobesitysurgery.com.au

23.01.2022 Game time!!!!! Thanks to all our sponsors and in particular DT Funding- Newcastle, Hunter and Lake Macquarie Mortgage Brokers who is today’s match day sponsor. Up the Wethers!

22.01.2022 Our over 35’s were in the hunt for a large part of the year but in the end had to settle for 3rd spot. The legends team comprising of several life members and long time Wethers servants had plenty of experience in their side - Adam Masterson Martin Spiers Fonz Michael Dobbie Buckets and the Valentinis boys just to name a few. A few new faces joined the fray, especially Tim Bowd certainly put his defensive stamp on the side and was rewarded with the players player title come ...the season end. The boys often enjoyed a post match beverage at either the ground or back at the Duke. Some of the highlights of the year included an Adam Masterson 30 yard top corner special, David Donnelly still trying to turn the opposition players and Josh Dinnery scoring plenty but also butchering several sitters (from what we heard). A fun year for the legends team and they will no doubt be looking to get some silverware next season!

22.01.2022 A big thanks to Dhuez Clothing for sponsoring us again this season and providing us with the great match day kits, caps and polo's to keep the Wethers looking stylish in and off the field. Jamie and Dave do a fantastic job with clothing/designing and if you ever need some gear make sure you hit them up. www.dhuezclothing.com.au

21.01.2022 Another weekend of games ahead. Last night saw All Age get up 4-3 against Mayfield. Today we have the 35's taking on South Cardiff while tomorrow the Zone League boys take on Garden Suburbs in the only Sunday game of the season. Thirds to play Wednesday night. #gameday #matchday2020 #wethers #newcastlefootball

20.01.2022 Was sad to turn up to this at our home ground over the weekend but luckily not enough damage to stop our games going ahead. It’s a shame there’s those out there who do this probably for a bit of fun and wreck it for many others. Anyone with info let the police know.

20.01.2022 Wednesday night game for reserves out at Stocko. Boys are about to kick off! Not too cold so far.....

19.01.2022 - PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT - REVISED LOCATIONS - Since Hunter New England Health’s update this morning, the Public Health unit has undertaken further investigation a...nd revised its advice regarding locations in Newcastle linked to a confirmed case of COVID-19. This morning a male in his 20s was confirmed as having COVID-19. This individual is a close contact of the teenager announced yesterday. The District is continuing to investigate the source of that case’s infection. Hunter New England Local Health District is urging anyone who attended the following venues at the specified times to immediately self-isolate and seek testing: - Bennett Hotel, Hamilton Friday 31 July, from 5.30pm to 10.00pm - Bar 88, Wests New Lambton Sunday 2 August, from 5.00pm to 7.15pm - Sydney Junction Hotel, Hamilton Saturday 1 August, from 11pm to 1.15am Sunday 2 August The venues have been notified and are undergoing cleaning. Contact tracing is underway. Hunter New England Health also urges any patrons who visited the following venues at the times specified to be alert for symptoms, and if any develop to get tested and self-isolate immediately: - Greenroof Bar and Restaurant, Hamilton Friday 31 July, from 10.30pm to 12.15 midnight - Sushi Revolution, Hamilton on Saturday 1 August, from 12noon to 12.45pm - Queens Wharf Hotel Saturday 1 August from 9.30pm to 11.00pm - McDonald Jones Stadium Sunday 2 August, 7:30pm to end of game, Newcastle Jets match The above public health recommendations follow a rigorous contact tracing process where an infected individual’s movements and interactions are analysed. This enables the Public Health unit to determine if there was a reasonable chance other individuals may have been infected with the virus. In this case they would be considered a close contact and required to self-isolate until 14 days after they last saw the person or attended a place where that person visited, even if they are feeling well. Casual contact includes instances where transmission is less likely. Casual contacts are not required to self-isolate, but are still encouraged to seek testing should they develop symptoms. Dr Kat Taylor, Public Health Controller for Hunter New England Health’s COVID-19 response said that Hunter New England Health is still working to identify any further contacts or venues visited by both individuals, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. All close contacts will be notified and required to isolate for 14 days. It is vital people in the community continue to present for testing if experiencing symptoms to limit the spread of the virus. I encourage everyone to follow directions they receive about home isolation and quarantine, and maintain COVID-safe practices of physical distancing, coughing or sneezing into their elbow, and regularly washing their hands, she said. With the identification of additional cases in the Newcastle area, The District is expecting an increase in the demand for testing. To ensure we can best serve the community during this time, we have enhanced our local testing capability. In addition to expanding our call centre capacity and the number of phone lines available to improve booking wait times, we will extend hours and capacity at a number of local clinics. However, please be patient if visiting a clinic or calling for a booking. We have thousands of testing opportunities throughout the course of today and will see people as quickly as possible, Dr Taylor said. For a complete list of COVID-19 testing clinics and booking details, please visit https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectio//Pages/clinics.aspx

19.01.2022 Last but certainly not least is the Wethers First Grade side of 2020. The boys started the season well picking up some silverware beating Minmi 3-2 in the Heritage Plate final. The season itself saw a mix of results with 4 wins/draws/losses but most importantly being in with a good chance of winning most of them. New additions to the side certainly made a difference and none more than Matt Rae who’s impressive displays down the left side saw him collect both player and coac...hes player of the year which he is keen to defend next season! Shaun Carter brought in some real calm and experience to the midfield while Sean Pole-Cini smashed it in the backline producing great tackles consistently. Josh Small ended up filling the attacker role a few rounds in and bagged himself several goals with some clever runs and footwork. Samuel McMinimee was solid in goals and copped a few knocks for his efforts while Arturo Diaz-Arancibia brought his passion and pre game beats as always. A few other highlights/moments for the year were the 5-4 win against Stockton after being down 4-0 at halftime, Jacob Rae attempting to have a conversation with the ref but getting more back than expected, throwing away a 2-0 lead/conceding right on halftime on several occasions and Steve Krause advising the opposition player that he wasn’t quite as good as he thought he was. Thanks to Peter Fraser for coaching and looking forward to more success for the side next season in what hopefully will be a normal comp. Up the Wethers!!!!

19.01.2022 A big 6-2 rout for the O35s in an attacking masterclass... but the real win was the #sociallydistant post-game beers in the sun #upthewethers

18.01.2022 The club is pleased to announce that it has reappointed Peter Fraser as coach for the 2021 season following some promising results in this disrupted season which included a heritage plate win and 4th place in first grade with a host of new players arriving at the club. He will once again be assisted by the experienced Barry Ross. We are excited to see where the coaching team can take the club next season. A preseason kick will take place next Wednesday afternoon with more details to come shortly.

08.01.2022 On to our other minor premiership side and the team they call the people’s team. Picking up from a reserve grade grand final win the boys stepped it up this year in a bizarre covid fixture Third Grade competition playing several sides many times. Ryan Deamer and Paul Ross took the reigns and ensured a good mix of on and off field fun was had while ensuring the boys remained focussed on getting the points each week. New inclusion Riley Taylor ( thanks Beau Taylor) was a clas...s above and before season end he was off to play with the Azzurri NPL squad but managed to pick up enough points to take out the players player award and signed off with a free kick special in his final game for us. Gregory Price was a constant presence at the back and ensured goals were hard to come by for the opposition and picked up the coaches player of the year award. Several all age players helped out which was great to see and numerous players got minutes in the people’s team during the year. An Ollie Stirling hat trick at Stockton, a 5-5 draw against Wallsend and the 1-0 win over Uni to all but wrap up the title were some of the many memorable moments for thirds for the year. The lads will look to defend their title in 2021!
