25.01.2022 To all our valued followers. Merifreedom continues to move forward. From now on our primary means of engagement is going to be via Facebook. The website will be closed down by the end of next month, but please continue to follow our updates via Facebook.

12.01.2022 Meri Freedom volunteers met together socially on Sunday 18th April after a long break due to COVID. Gay updated them on current status. COVID has held up delivery to PNG for almost 12 months. The shipping container is hopefully leaving Geelong to arrive in PNG in June. Currently another 300 bags are waiting to be picked up to join the container taking the delivery total to 1200 bags. Whilst COVID has held up delivery it has not thwarted the enthusiasm of the volunteers wh...o are still working in all different ways to put the sanitary bags together. Esmie, our community health worker in Popondetta, has been working tirelessly as well, spreading the word to gain backing from her end from political and health supporters for when the bags arrive and for future planning. Work has commenced on writing a concise pictorial training module, for teaching purposes. It will cover how to make the components of the bag. Esmie will translate the instructions into pidgin before publication.

10.01.2022 Laurine is another of our volunteers who sews and overlocks the sanitary pads for the ladies bags. Laurine has been involved with Meri Freedom since the start and some of her handiwork is already being used by girls and ladies in the Treaty Villages, Western Province, PNG, making a huge difference to their lives. Thankyou Laurine for all your hard work and the graciousness with which you do it. You are a pleasure to work with and may many more pads follow......

09.01.2022 Another beader, Dorothy, has joined our volunteer team and has contributed these beautiful bangles. (She is too shy for a photo). The girls and ladies of PNG love colour and therefore it is great to have such a variety of colours and styles, by different beaders, to include in their sanitary bags.
