03.01.2022 Hey everyone, so we have some updates in regards to training. With exception to any changes Daniel Andrews makes, training will start this coming Tuesday and next Thursday at 5.45 until 7. Things will be a bit different with training to be done in groups of 12-13. They will be split into Premier, B grade and D+F grade (extra groups will be made if necessary). These groups will all be training in different areas (nets, centre wicket practice and fielding). When arriving at t...raining players will have to sign in to a log book and go to their respective groups. There will be a sheet or a whiteboard telling players which group they are in. For this coming Tuesday, Premier will be doing fielding out on the main oval, B grade will be in the nets and D+F grade doing centre practice. I'm sure I have left out some details somewhere along the lines, so if anyone has any questions please ask and I'll do my best to answer. Looking forward to hopefully seeing everyone Tuesday night.
02.01.2022 Hi everyone! Just wanted to give a quick shoutout to everyone who came and watched the Under 12’s semi-final yesterday (and today). Unfortunately, they went down, but went out fighting today.... After coming into the season hoping to win a few games here and there, we managed to secure top spot 3 rounds out from the end of the season. A fantastic result regardless of the loss today. The development of these kids has been amazing to watch and how quickly they became a team is credit to them and their parents. Thanks to all of those who supported the kids, coaches, team management and junior coordinator throughout the season. We’ll be back bigger and better next season. Go Cobras!
01.01.2022 Rd2 Reviews Premier travelled up the road to take on a strong Clyde outfit with the home team winning the toss and electing to bat first. They got off to a strong start but our boys stuck to the task and fought back well with some tight bowling and great fielding to bowl Clyde out for 147. All bowlers did a great job with young Tyson Bertrand doing the most damage taking 4/29 off his 8. We got off to a shaky start with the bat at 2/22 but never looked back from there with P...riyantha and Manu putting on 122 in a brilliant 3rd wicket partnership to steer us home with 8 overs to spare. Manu with his 2nd 50 in as many weeks and Pri taking man of match with a unbeaten 64. Terrific result for the team and club!! B grade took on Clyde at home and bowled first. We bowled well early but fell away bowling to many loose deliveries until the spinners of Quigley and Fairlam tightened things up late to keep Clyde to 7/153 with Quigley the pick of bowlers taking 2/29 off his 8 and Bertrand snaring 2 at the death. Our batting innings couldn't have gotten off to a worse start losing robbo first ball smoking one to backward square leg then finding ourselves at 5/16! Fortunately Bertrand and Quigley showed some real fight and saved us from total embarrassment putting on gritty 54 run stand with Jordy making 39 and Quigs 33. We finished up 9/115 in a dissapointing day. Quigley the highlight with bat and ball taking man of the match in his return. C grade travelled to Lang lang with the home team batting first and making a solid start before losing a clump of wickets to find themselves 3/35. They finished 8/142 with the veteran kunziak taking 2 and Mandhiraj Singh with the astonishing figures of 3/9 off his 8 overs. We lost a couple of early wickets but our middle order consolidated with Mandhiraj kunziak and Strang each scoring 20 and opener Lahiru Sankalpa carrying his bat finishing 43no to steer us home in the 37th over. Terrific start to season for c grade winning 2 from 2! Mandhiraj taking man of the match. E grade took on Devon Meadows on the small oval and found the going tuff from the outset losing regular wickets through out the innings finishing 153. Allison and Leonard both notching up 20s and Brooks top scoring with 30. Unfortunately Devon plundered their way past our score in the 21st over with a dominant victory. We'll have a few blokes back available in the higher grades next week which will strengthen our team and I'm sure we will put up a better showing next week! Brooks takes man of match with his well made 30.
01.01.2022 Team selections for today, last game for this year!! Let’s make it a great day, bring home some wins and stick around tonight for our Christmas break up We will have some tunes and activities like coin toss, glow in the dark golf, play some poker if your keen and have a bbq or order some pizza! Best of luck to everyone today!
01.01.2022 Rd5 reviews Premier took on a highly fancied cardinia team away and batted first after winning the toss, Danas and Sasindu got us off to a strong start putting on 51 before a staggering collapse took place... we lost 10 for 45 to be rolled for 96 with Danas 29 and the Sri Lankan duo of Sas and Pri chipping in with 18 each. To the boys credit they fought the game out hard and had cardi in strife at 7/70 but the home team ended up passing the score 8 down. The boys need to sta...rt putting complete games together and the results will come! B grade had arch rivals Devon Meadows at home and elected to bat after winning the toss, unfortunately what has become a common theme of the 2s season we really struggled to get going on the slow Donnelly reserve and were knocked over for 101 with Luke Dinger the only batter looking likely with 20. The visitors past our score 3 down in 21 overs in a absolute smashing and leaves b grades season hanging by a thread with a must win game v tooradin this week. C grade took on pakenham at home and won the toss and batted first. A 50 run opening stand from Francis and Nesty set the tone for the rest of the team to come in and have a go with all batsmsn contributing, Francis(38) Nesty(30) Marty(27) L Bertrand(26) and Kunziak top scoring with 39. With a total of 225 we looked the goods. But in a very entertaining game pakenham took the game to the very last ball where they needed 3 to win but a kunziak yorker taking out the batsmans pegs sealed the deal earning Scotty a clear best on with 39 and 3/36 off 8. Very good win by the boys which consolidates them in the top 4. E grade traveled to officer with the home team batting first and posting a solid 181, young Ash Jenkin bowling well without luck with figures of 0/33 off his 8 overs, the veteran Johnny was filling in and chimed in with a tidy 1/16 off 8 and Josh Colomer snaring a handy 3/34 off his 8. We opened up with Johnny and Rus and things were looking great with a 98 run opening stand but things quickly turned sour with the boys collapsing to finish on 9/154, Johnny notching up another 60 and Rus 33 while life member Shane Dalton chipping in with 18. Dissapointing end to what looked like a promising run chase but hopefully the boys can turn it around this week and find themselves back in the 4 with a win leading into Christmas.
