22.01.2022 Today is Wear it Purple Day and we are celebrating young LGBTIQ+ people and showing them they have a right to be proud of who they are. At Meritos, we want to help everyone unleash their potential and sadly for many young people, they struggle to express their identity for fear of being bullied by their peers. There a few reasons why today is so important:... 75% of LGBTIQ+ youth in Australia will be bullied because of their identity. 80% will experience bullying at school. LGBTIQ+ youth are up to 12x more likely to experience depression and up to 5x more likely to experience anxiety. Wear it Purple was founded in 2010 in response to young people taking their own lives as a result of bullying and harassment from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity. We have donated $1,000 to support this wonderful organisation.
