25.01.2022 AGM 2020 & Volunteers Appreciation Night Thank you to members who attended our 2020 Annual General Meeting at Burwood Brickworks. It was also a night that we honored our many volunteers. While serious matters were attended to and Covid safe practices adhered, the beer did flow freely and there was definitely lots of yummy food. It was great to see the happy smiles and hear all the laughter, an enjoyable time of catching up and fellowship. Unfortunately due to Covid restricti...ons, we were not able to accommodate more who wanted to attend. Congratulations to members of the incoming committee. Our best wishes for the months ahead as we look forward to a better 2021. As a voluntary organization, we are blessed to have many wonderful volunteers who have contributed their skills, time and efforts generously without complaints and expecting nothing in return. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to former committee member, Julian for hosting the event at his restaurant. Thanks for the fabulous food and superb hospitality. It was a great night of casual fun and full of chatter! Many new members have signed up to the club in the last few weeks. We welcome all of you and look forward to meeting you soon at forthcoming events. 20.01.2022 Looking forward to new Covid Normal Congratulations to Victoria for achieving so many days of zero cases and zero deaths, affectionately referred to as ‘donut days’. As restrictions lift, we look forward to a new Covid normal where life can go back to being almost like it used to be. Our last Merlion gathering was in February this year. We hope to once again see members at our events soon. In the past we have had many memorable times where members and friends got to party, ...let their hair down and just enjoyed fun and laughter together. If all goes well we will be able to celebrate Chinese New Year together in February 2021,Yay! 15.01.2022 SINGAPORE NATIONAL DAY 2020 Due to Covid restrictions in Melbourne, we are unfortunately not able to hold our traditional national day celebration event this year. While we may not be able to gather physically as a community, we can still commemorate Singapore's 55th National Day this Sunday. 12.01.2022 Members Networking Nite @ Tian38 Restaurant & Bar https://www.tian38.com.au/ Merlion members enjoyed a night of networking, drinks and dinner at Tian38 restaurant & bar in Melbourne CBD on Thursday 29 April. Members had time to chitchat, catch up and get to know each other before sitting down to the yummy ‘Take me to Singapore’ banquet which transported us back to Singapore for a little while.... Our special thanks to Alan Chong for hosting this event at his beautiful venue and the warm hospitality. Thanks also to all the staff of Tian38 for the fabulous food, delicious drinks and the great service. Thanks to everyone who attended, it was great meeting all of you!

09.01.2022 Singapore Merlion Club members and friends celebrated Chinese New Year 2020 at Crown Palace restaurant on 9 Feb. The evening started with lion dance, toast to the Year of the Rat and prosperity toss (lohei Yusheng) before a sumptuous dinner featuring some traditional CNY dishes. Lovely Kathy Chung sang couple of Chinese songs while great entertainment from Wildestyle Band, Lino and Fran brought guests to the floor to dance and sing along. There was a lucky raffle draw with great prizes to raise funds for the Victorian Bush Fire appeal and door gifts from our sponsor, Max Biocare, and sampling of Ah Huat Coffee and bak kwa. Our thanks to all volunteers, organizing committee and guests who made the event a most successful and fun Chinese New Year celebration. 08.01.2022 SINGAPORE MERLION CLUB MELBOURNE We are excited that restrictions are slowly being lifted in Victoria and we know everyone is looking forward to once again being able to enjoy Melbourne's cafes, parklands, spring weather & leisure activities, and to meet up with family and friends. We have received many applications for membership during this period of lockdown and we want to welcome all our new members! We have also received many messages of well wishes during this time, and... we are grateful for the encouragement and support from so many of you in our community. Thanks so much!
