I started Physie at the age of 3 at Camden Narellan before moving to Mermaid when I was 10. .... Q. Name your favorite physie moment. A. There are so many! My favourite is the year I placed at Opera House for the first time and this year putting my first Ladies teams on the floor! . Q. Who (or what) inspires you? A. My teachers Belinda Webb and Alison Ballard. Each time I watch them take the floor I am in awe of their talent! My ladies also inspire me, their dedication and love of Physie inspires me to work that bit harder each time. . Q. How do you explain Physie to your friends?! A. 20.01.2022 Welcome to this weeks A Minute with a Mermaid featuring the beautiful Heidi Watkins of our Intermediate Ladies Q. When and Where did you first start Physie? A. South Woy Woy Physical Culture Club when i was 3 years old.... Q. Name your favorite physie moment. A. Coming 2nd at Nationals last year was a definite highlight as a lady and closely followed by the first time i saw my daughters perform in a competition. I finally understood how my mum felt when she says she holds her breath the whole time Im on the floor. Q. Who (or what) inspires you? A. All the seniors and ladies at Mermaid inspire me and I love watching them all perform. They inspire me to do endless hours of practice after I watch them. Such a talented bunch of women. My mum also inspires me to challenge and push myself, she is so supportive and is always there to cheer me on. Q. How do you explain Physie to your friends?! A. Its a combination of Jazz, contemporary and ballet and everyone in Australia learns the same 5 routines for their age group and we compete as individuals and teams. Q. 20.01.2022 WOW! We had a Mermazing day at our 2020 Club Day yesterday. Performing for our family and friends has always been fun but this year, as this was the only opportunity for spectators, it was EXTRA special. Our team spirits were high and we are so grateful to have had this time on the floor together. Well done Mermaids @ Gold Coast, Queensland

I started physie when I was 3 at Bonny Hills and Ive been at Mermaid Beach since 2014!... Q. Name your favorite physie moment. A. So many amazing memories throughout the last 20 years but most memorable would definitely be the time I fell off my bike the night before nationals and had to get stitches in my chin! 14.01.2022 Welcome to this weeks A Minute with a Mermaid featuring Mia Taylor - Open Senior & much loved Teacher . Q. When and Where did you first start Physie? A. I first started physie when I was 3 at surfers paradise, I thought physie wasnt for me & stopped, then went back at 4 when mermaid first opened in 2001 ... Q. Name your favorite physie moment. A. Theres too many! A few highlights would have to be performing on the DVD, performing on the opera house stage, the first year I had two of my own girls make Opera house & lastly in 2018 when Mikayla won opera house, being there side stage as she marched off into my arms is a moment I will forever treasure, the tears were real! So many emotional and rewarding moments. Q. Who (or what) inspires you? A. My mum without a doubt is my biggest inspiration she has always believed in me and given me the strength and confidence to believe in myself when I dont. Also my girls, the girls I teach every week make me strive towards being the best I can be. Q. How do you explain Physie to your friends?! A. Broken down dancing haha! A structured form of dancing. A sport that combines all styles of dance. Fun & fitness! Q. In one word tell us what Physie means to you! A. STRENGTH!

I started when I was 5 years old at Sherwood Park with Sarah Danaher as my teacher. ... Q. Name your favorite physie moment. A. Winning Qld Zone 2019 was definitely a highlight for me, it was something I had worked towards for many years. Q. Who (or what) inspires you? A. My teachers inspire me so much. They have such knowledge, poise and the ability to make physie look so easy! Q. How do you explain Physie to your friends?! A. I usually keep it simple, its a dance school with many clubs across Australia whom all get together and compete. Q. In one word tell us what Physie means to you! A. Invigorating!

I started physie as a beginner lady in 2009 at Burleigh Waters before joining the Mermaid family in 2011.... Q. Name your favorite physie moment. A. So many to choose from.. 2019 is definitely a stand out though. From making an Open State final for the first time since becoming an Open Lady to our team winning the Unders section in championship grade in Sydney.. so many happy and exciting moments. Q. Who (or what) inspires you? A. Without a doubt it has to be all of my fellow mermaids.. each and every one in their own special way. From the seasoned professionals with their knowledge and strength, to the newest of newbies full of determination and courage. Q. How do you explain Physie to your friends?! A. Its a type of dance sport with a combination of various dance styles with a bit of marching thrown in for good measure. Q. In one word tell us what Physie means to you! A. Me-Time!

I started Physie when I was 5 years old at Burleigh Waters Physie.... Q. Name your favorite physie moment. A. My favourite Physie moment was competing at the opera house for the first time at nationals and coming second in my age group. Q. Who (or what) inspires you? A. My Mum, she supports me through everything and takes me to physie classes, she watches me and corrects me and is there for me when I m having a nervous breakdown. Also, my Teacher Mia, she is always pushing me to do my best and without her I wouldnt be where I am today. She has such a lovely heart towards everyone and I just look up to her in so many ways. Q. Physie is a fun sport that combines all styles of dance together in 5 routines. it is the best environment to be around with all your physie family and get to travel to Sydney for competitions. Q. I first started Physie when I was 8 years old in 2005 at Mermaid Beach.... Q. Name your favorite physie moment. A. My favourite physie moment was the first year of Opera house and all the girls within my age group made it through and all picked the same heat and we got to experience our first year all together. And also when I placed 5th at Opera house! Q. Who (or what) inspires you? A. My group of physie gals inspire me, it’s amazing what everybody is capable of and too see how hard they all work and how well they do is so inspiring! Q. How do you explain Physie to your friends?! A. Physie is a type of dance that’s has different mixtures of dancing with in it with structure and strength. Q. In one word tell us what Physie means to you! A. Friendship! I have such a good bunch of friends that mean the world to me and have been by my side for 15 years and I love physie for that!
