25.01.2022 Early this morning, crews from Mernda CFA and P81 attended a car fire at Mernda train station. Crews quickly contained the fire and prevented any spread but were unable to prevent significant damage to the vehicle. We understand how upsetting this would be to the cars owner. Once the scene was declared safe, the incident was handed over to Vic Police for investigation.... #CFA #MerndaCFA #firerescuevictoria #morethanjustbushfires

22.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 20.01.2022 School is back for 2021 this week and so are school speed zones. Remember school speed zones are in place to keep kids safe by lowering the speed limit at peak times when children are travelling to and from school. When children are around roads they can be unpredictable, quick moving and hard to see.... If you are driving around schools please slow down, pay attention and observe speed limits.
