25.01.2022 A bit of a delay...but here the results from the final round of the "Guess the Margin" competition from round 18. With a big blow out resulting in the Saints winning by 52 points against GWS, there were a lot of large margins for the final round. This resulted in some shuffles in the top 10, which will be published soon...... Congatulations to Nathan Pell who picked the Saints to win by the biggest margin and as a result became the final weekly winner. ... And the only thing left now is to reveal the overall winner........

19.01.2022 Coaching Announcement We are delighted to announce that our premiership winning coaches Blynda Tranter and Laura Gordon will be returning in 2021 to lead our U17s. Off the back of dual premierships with the U15s and U17s these coaches need no introduction.... Boasting numerous premierships as players and coaches their knowledge of the game is exactly what has helped our juniors with their recent successes. We have no doubt in their continuation of the success they have had with leading our junior program over the past 5 seasons as coaches. Congratulations on your appointment ladies and we wish you all the best for the upcoming season.

19.01.2022 We would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and happy and safe New Year. Enjoy this time with family, friends and loved ones, after what’s been far from an ideal year. If you’re struggling a bit over this festive period for whatever reason, as it can be a tough time for many, please reach out to us through a message and we will endeavour to put you in touch with the right groups to support you. 17.01.2022 Yesterday was 5 years to the day of our 2015 KDFNL Senior Premiership win over Stanhope. We were hoping to have 1990 & 2015 Premiership Reunions this year, but that wasn't able to happen. The replay of this Grand Final is the best we could do! Thanks to Proimage Broadcast for filming the day and allowing us to share this footage, to Kyabram District Football Netball League for putting the day together as they do each year, and 98.5 ONEFM Football for providing the commentary ...on the day. There's no football on this weekend, so sit back and enjoy this one! Don't forget to tag anyone who might be interested, and share away so others can enjoy watching this. Go Dogs!

15.01.2022 Coaching Announcement We are pleased to announce the appointment of premiership player Abby Hargadon to the role of U15s coach for the 2021 season. Abby is a first time coach but brings with her the enthusiasm and playing experience as developed under club coaches Laura Gordon and Blynda Tranter. Abby has played for Merrigum in U15s and U17s and was a part of the U17s back to back premiership side in 2018 and 2019.... We are excited to see what Abby can bring to this role and wish Abby all the best on the start of her coaching career.

15.01.2022 Updated return to play protocols.

15.01.2022 2021 FOOTBALL COACHES Merrigum FNC are happy to announce that our football teams will next year be led by: Steve Lawlor - Seniors John Mathewson - Reserves... Dylan Rowney - Thirds All three coaches are re-appointed from the 2020 season. Steve Lawlor, more commonly known around the club as Box, will lead our Senior side into a season for the third time. Box has been around the club for a long time, playing Thirds, Reserves and Seniors! He coached the Reserves to a flag in 2017 and has been a terrific, hardworking clubman over the years. Since taking over as Senior Coach in 2018, Box has been able to keep a core group of players together, while bringing back some past players, as well as new recruits. He has set clear standards and game plans amongst the playing group and we look forward to Box and all the collective football teams building on this in 2021. John Mathewson will lead the Reserves in 2021. John was a trainer at Merrigum in 2019 and was appointed Reserves Co-coach for 2020, continuing on as sole coach next season. John began his football playing career at Swanpool, before playing 107 games at Tongala and 111 games at Kyabram, including flags at both clubs. He also played seasons at Lancaster and Rushworth. This all finished with John playing 2 seasons at Merrigum, including playing in the 1987 Senior Premiership side! John has previous coaching experience as a Skills Coach and an Assistant Coach. Dylan Rowney will coach the 18 & Under (Thirds) side in 2021, something that he has previously done in an Assistant Role. He follows in his Father Darren's footsteps who has previously been Head Coach of the Thirds. Dylan was appointed Thirds Coach in March 2020, a late appointment after some personnel changes, and did plenty of working recruiting and getting some kids to MFNC from the moment he took over. Dylan has played plenty of football for Merrigum; well over 100 games, mostly at an Under 18 level, including the 2016 3rds Premiership, but has played in the Seniors and Reserves in recent years. Dylan is very keen to be in this role and is a great person to the lead the young men at Merrigum. We would like to thank Adrian Fitzsimmons for his efforts coaching the Thirds in 2019 and Leigh Cuthbert for committing to be Reserves Coach in 2020 (although he will no longer take that role in 2021). We wish the new coaches all the best for the 2021 KDFNL season. Go Dogs!

08.01.2022 FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT As you may have seen on WIN News this evening, we had Damian Drum MP and Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Seema Abdullah at Merrigum Recreation Reserve today to officially announce our major funding. The Federal Government have provided some local councils with one million dollars drought relief funding.... We are very happy to share that we are receiving $350,000 of that for a major project at the Merrigum Recreation Reserve. The major project will see two multi purpose courts built, which for netball means two new netball courts and there will be 2 upgraded courts for the tennis club. This is a wonderful thing for the Rec. Reserve, our club, the tennis club and the local community. We are very thankful to both the Greater Shepparton City Council and also Damian Drum MP (on behalf of the Federal Government) for helping us make this happen. More importantly, several people have been working together behind the scenes within the Rec. Reserve committee, the football/netball club and in conjunction with the other relevant local groups. This conversation and planning has been taking place for 9-10 years and has really ramped up in the absence of local sport this year but with also the availability of the funding. A massive thank you to all involved. On top of this, earlier in the year we received a matched grant from the Shepp Council (50% MFNC and 50% council) to improve our facilities. This has gone towards new goal posts and a new football ground surface; fixed irrigation sprinklers, new top dressing and re-seeding. The football ground will be in tip top condition next year. Hopefully these announcements have you absolutely pumped for next season. Bring on 2021. Go Dogs!

03.01.2022 Please be aware that more Covid-19 cases have popped up in Victoria over the past 24 hours, creating more exposure sights. Right now the cases in the state are still low (around 15) and there is zero need for any stress or panic. The reason we want to share this information, is that exposure sights were originally just in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne (Epping/Bundoora area), but have now extended around Melbourne and include a couple of places in Bendigo.... If you attended the MCG on Sunday, please also check the list. As a community our simple responsibility it to keep checking in using QR codes and to stay home and get tested if you're unwell. https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/exposure-sites

Congratulations to Darryn, who was able to take the lead for the first time in the final round. As they say, it doesn't matter whether you lead during the game, it matters if you lead at the end. ... Well done to Kitt Irena who finished second and has lead from the second round of the season, and Dylan Rowney who finished third. Congratulations to all the others who finished in the top 10, with these positions changing regularly throughout the year. A big thanks to all who participated.
