25.01.2022 Arrr I guess that move didn’t go to plan... Life’s not always roses, we fall.. but dam do we rise strong! -

24.01.2022 ARE YOU KEEN TO GET INTO RODEO? it's a sport that welcomes newcomers at any age or with any level of experience, just like Jarrod McKane - a young cowboy who ma...de his National Finals debut last year with only a couple of years experience behind him! If you've been wanting to know more about the sport, the opportunities to become involved or compete, then give our team our call - we will connect you with someone who will put on the pathway to the professional sport of rodeo in Australia! #australianprorodeoassociation Image BR Action Photography See more

24.01.2022 2020 PRO TOUR TEAM ROPING HEADING CHAMPION | Shane Kenny, is a humble champ, quick to say he’s ‘lucky because the guys he ropes with do really well’ - his comp...etition partner, Clay Bush, took out the 2020 Pro Tour Team Roping Heeling Champion title. Shane is a veteran of the Pro Tour Circuit and rodeo-road, so he’s certainly missing the people and the catch-ups, but he’s been quietly enjoying a little down-time too. Haven’t swung a rope or ridden a horse for a few months, so the break has been okay, said Shane. I’ve probably never had this much time off so plenty of jobs are getting done. Shane is a champion of the sport in more ways than one, with his family continuing to provide opportunities for people to maintain their skills in the sport by hosting varying events on their Emerald property during the break. Our recent roping day was probably the biggest event we’ve had, was great to host something that people were excited to get to and do something, said Shane. Congratulations on your Pro Tour Champion Title Shane and thanks for the continued contribution to the sport. #australianprorodeoassociation Image BR Action Photography See more

22.01.2022 2020 PRO TOUR BULL RIDING CHAMPION | Bailey Woodard came away with the title just ahead of a few rivals, he says ‘were very hot on his heels’. It certainly wou...ld have made for an interesting year, said Bailey. With the sport of rodeo taking a break, Bailey is keeping himself busy with work and keeping fit in readiness for the return of competition. Bailey started out in rodeo is his younger years, and it’s been his life ever since, so right now he’s missing getting on the good bulls. Congratulations on your Pro Tour Champion title Bailey, we know you’ll be ready when the sport returns. #australianprorodeoassociation Image BR Action Photography See more

18.01.2022 PRO TOUR ALL AROUND CHAMPION COWBOY & PRO TOUR ROPE AND TIE CHAMPION | Terry Evison has been enjoying life at home of late, welcoming baby Chad in August with p...artner, and fellow Champion Leslie Moore. "The break has allowed me to invest more time into the property, catch up on the backlog of jobs that don't get done while we're normally away competing," said Terry. "And now we're also busy with two children!" Like many fellow competitors, Terry is missing the opportunity to catch-up with friends - as well as that adrenaline rush of competition. And while he recalls the rodeos early in the season, the fun of the South Australian circuit, and the energy of the new committees who joined the APRA affiliate line-up in 2020, Terry has his eyes set on the future. "It's to break the Australian Team Roping record." Congratulations Terry, and good luck in achieving that goal - we'll be watching! #australianprorodoeoassociation Image BR Action Photography See more

18.01.2022 It's with a very heavy heart we share the news that this year's Mount Isa Mines Rodeo will be cancelled for the first time in the event's proud 61 year history.... The 2020 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo will not go ahead due to the current biosecurity emergency. Isa Rodeo Chief Executive Officer Natalie Flecker said the Isa Rodeo Limited Board’s decision was made following the 18 March, 2020 declaration of a Human Biosecurity Emergency by the Australian Governor-General in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Ms Flecker said the current Biosecurity Emergency declaration was in force until at least mid-June, 2020, but could be further extended. While this is disappointing, the safety of our competitors, community, patrons, rodeo team, sponsors, volunteers and stock is our most important consideration and we are not prepared to hold the 2020 Rodeo event while the current pandemic continues to pose a human biosecurity emergency, she said. We will look forward to putting on an amazing event in 2021, and thank our very loyal sponsors, rodeo fans, competitors and everyone who loves the sport of rodeo. On behalf of the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo, we have just one wish that our Mount Isa community and Rodeo family stays well and we support each other through these challenging times until we come through, better and stronger. Ms Flecker also paid tribute to the 2020 Isa Rodeo Queen Quest entrants who had been forced to suspend their fundraising. Our three wonderful entrants, Krystle Chong, Kelly-Maree Jones and Maddie Grey will re-commence as 2021 Queen Quest entrants when it is appropriate to do so, she said. The Queensland Government, via Tourism and Events Queensland, is proud to support the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo which features on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar. Isa Rodeo holds Australian Tourism Awards for Festivals and Events winning Gold (2018), Silver (2017) and Gold (2016). The 2021 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo will be held from 12-15 August, 2021 and is expected to attract more than 600 of Australia’s competitors and almost 40,000 visitors to experience the rodeo festival including RODEO ROCK concerts, the Isa Street Festival, Mailman Express horse races, bush poets breakfast and more.

14.01.2022 2020 PRO TOUR TEAM ROPING HEELING CHAMPION | Clay Bush is taking this title for the third time. And the young cowboy says ‘it’s still a nice feeling’. Thankful ...for his competition partner, Shane Kenny, and the continued support from his family, Clay acknowledges it takes plenty of support from good people to be able to compete and win. Busy in his farrier business, Clay has been making the most of the sport’s break, also setting-up a family property at Yass and working with some young horses. I haven’t really slowed down at all I’ve been breaking in some new horses and getting plenty done that’s for sure, he said. Whilst the break is an opportunity to freshen up for Clay, he like every cowboy, is missing his rodeo family and can’t wait to catch-up with the guys. Congratulations on your Pro Tour Champion Title Clay, thanks for your contribution to the sport and we look forward to seeing you back in action when the sport returns. #australianprorodeoassociation See more

12.01.2022 McCormack Park is Closed until further notice. Covid-19 meant our March booking was cancelled, and the sand dropped on the arena for that event has not been abl...e to be spread, firstly because of restrictions and now because of wet weather. We apologize for any inconvenience it has caused our members. We hope to get it back up and running when the weather permits. See more

11.01.2022 2020 PRO TOUR ALL AROUND CHAMPION COWGIRL | Leslie Moore, is back in the top spot this year, with her last Pro Tour title back in 2012/2013 taking the Pro Tour ...Rookie and Barrel Racing Champion titles. In a stroke of luck for Leslie, the sport’s pause due to COVID-19 came at a perfect time as she was around 5 months pregnant, so she has been able to enjoy the latter stages of pregnancy and safely bring a beautiful baby boy, Chad, into the world he’s now a month old! I’m enjoying being grounded at the moment, it’s a great chance to enjoy the newborn phase, said Leslie. We normally live very busy lives with work and rodeo, now I’m just busy with Tejay and Chad! Despite the blessings and the opportunity to be at home with family, Leslie, like most professional competitors, is missing her rodeo family and competing on her horses. With that driving her, Leslie will soon be back in the saddle, getting herself and the horses fit again, with a plan to start where she left off ‘to do the best to get the All Around and Barrel Racing titles at the APRA National Finals in 2021. Congratulations on all your good news Leslie, we can’t wait to see you and the family back on rodeo-road! #australianprorodeoassociation Image The wife creative See more

07.01.2022 The question of the moment! The Merrijig Rodeo Committee has decided to wait to see what COVID-19 restrictions are in place in early January before making a final decision. Whilst we would all love for the rodeo to go ahead, the safety of our competitors and spectators are of our utmost priority and we want to ensure that we can put on a fun and safe rodeo.... We hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Stay tuned for more updates in January. Photo credit: Shaye Hughes Photography

06.01.2022 Nina here - Merrijig Rodeo Queen 2020 Never in a million years did I ever think I would be given this incredible opportunity and I’m so glad that I grasped it with both hands. Being Rodeo Queen has introduced me to so many amazing people and allowed me to be involved with our beautiful community which I’m so grateful for. Being given the chance to go on live national television definitely pushed me outside of my comfort zone but I’m so glad Jet and I did it. The ride to Craig’s Hut with one of the custodians of the High Country was an amazing experience and one I will treasure forever. The Merrijig Rodeo was a wonderful success and I loved meeting and chatting to so many people and enjoying such a fun local event. Can’t wait to see you all at the Merrijig Rodeo 2021!

04.01.2022 #currymerrymuster | 2020 EVENT ANNNOUNCEMENT After much discussion and with great consideration given to the health and welfare of everyone involved in the del...ivery, competition, sponsorship and attendance of the 2020 Curry Merry Muster Festival, the Committee has made the decision to cancel this year’s event. With the most recent directives of the Australian Government and associated health officials considered, moving ahead with plans to hold the Festival during these uncertain times would not be feasible, practical or responsible. The Committee would like to pass on their sincere thanks to the entire CMMF team, including everyone from local volunteers to major stakeholders and financing partners, for their support and understanding during this time. Please continue to follow our social media platforms as we roll-out our plans for 2021!

02.01.2022 UPDATE ON MERRIJIG RODEO 2021 Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions along with the closure of borders, the Merrijig Rodeo committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the rodeo for 2021. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all in 2022 for a bigger and better rodeo.... Photo credit: Shaye Hughes Photography
