25.01.2022 It is still wet and sloppy underfoot but spring is trying to get started. There are days like today where you are watching bees on the blossom and in a kind of day and then in a moment it is the dogs bites a goat there is blood so you run, in the slopping mud, across the farm in gumboots to get the goat meanwhile the geese get into the garden, you get the geese out and dash to get the first aid, it isn't bad but good gosh that was a hectic 5 minutes @merrimanscreekfarm #farmlife #phew

25.01.2022 In lieu of veggie updates here is what has been happening at the farm. Chicks, cute little fluffy butts running around. The strawberries are starting to ripen, another week or so and we will be overwhelmed. Lots of flowers coming out with all the rain and now sunshine. Using what we have. Cooling milk in the creek in the pasteurisation process.... Sunshine through the trees by the creek. 24.01.2022 I don't know what to say about this girl We have been having a bit of a goat chomping issue recently so she is back on the lead and having some retraining. Today she was my guardian and carer.... I slipped and fell hard, flat on my back, knocked the wind right out of me. It took me a few minutes to get myself together. She lay down next to me and patted my head, it didn't feel great as I had just fallen, but it was sweet. #love #maremma #guardian #farmlife #falling #retraining #sore

This was a limited number as we hadn't planned on doing sales. From comments and repeat sales everyone seemed happy with what they received.... Thank you to all those that bought boxes. 21.01.2022 Retraining day #2 No pulling this time and did as she was told. Then I left her unsupervised in the house yard. She escaped got her back in no worries, but now to see where she got out.... We have made the decision to wrap up our season in order to free up our winter for building infrastructure and expanding Merrimans Creek Farm. We will have our veggies picked and ready for collection on Saturday 27th from 10am - 1pm. There will be free BBQ corn/veggie skewers from 11am. 04.01.2022 Fresh mineral day is like a scene from The Wolf Of Wall Street Craziness to get to get to the minerals that they have access to all the time, but fresh from the bag is best.

01.01.2022 Focusing on making as much compost as we can this off season. All of our excess/old crops, local coffee grounds, animal bedding, manure, etc are combined and continuously turned to keep them aerated and hot. These piles are over 65 degrees and will remain at that temp for well over a month. Compost will be ready in time for spring, when all the beds will get a healthy layer before planting.
