25.01.2022 Today we pause for a minute’s silence to honour those who made personal sacrifices during peacekeeping operations, wars, and conflicts. The hardship of service extends to loved ones and friends they leave behind. Take a moment today to call or visit a friend or family member and check to see how they’re feeling. Lest we forget.... #remembranceday #1ms
25.01.2022 Vale Dennis Maxwell, Maxwell Coaches. It is with great sadness we learned of the passing of Dennis Maxwell this week, his cheery character and loud voice will be remembered always. Our friend Dennis supported Phoenix Coaches, Merseylink, and Cradle Mtn Coaches and was inducted to the National Transport Hall of Fame in 2015 for his work in the bus industry for over 50 years.... Our deepest condolences go out to the Maxwell family. 06.01.2022 Fun Fact Friday! Did you know the largest-bus on record has a capacity of 300 passengers?! Unveiled by Volvo in 2016, the Gran Artic 300 bi-articulated bus promises to have a seat for everyone travelling through Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Because this monster-size bus is so big measuring 30 meters in length, they’ve had to build dedicated lanes! ... We can’t say we will be seeing these types of buses on our roads any time soon. We, however, do have one of the largest-buses in Tasmania with a capacity of 87!
05.01.2022 Fun Fact Friday Did you know that the Ferry is the longest-continual transport operation in Tasmania? The Ferry has been operating since the 1850s. In 1855, William Andrews ran the Ferry, providing a vital link between the eastern and western shores. 156-years later, in 2011, the Ferry was bought by a local bus company, Pheonix Coaches, operated by Jan and Grant Bingley, who still, 9-years on, continue to keep the operation trading through Merseylink.
05.01.2022 Fun Fact Friday! The building now known as the Westbus depot was once the Westbury Gemstone and Mineral Display Centre, owned by Frank Bardenhagen, dating back to 1987. Over 6-years and around 100 murals later, the interior walls were masked by paintings of local historical buildings and Tasmanian Flora and Fauna, all painted by Dallas Sutherland. A few years later in the early '90s, exterior murals were added with the assistance of Adelaide painter, Nicholas Watson. In 2009, Jan and Grant brought Dallas over from the mainland to paint one more mural for them. What a brilliant way to bring the outdoors in!

04.01.2022 Fun Fact Friday! Gemma is one of our Ferry operators. During the Ferry's maintenance period, Gemma was on the wash bay at our Wesley Vale depot, keeping our buses spick-and-span. Gemma has worked with Merseylink for over six months now, and although her days are often cold, she always has fun! When Gemma isn't at work, you can find her tapping into her creativity with 3D-animation or getting lost in the world of video games.

03.01.2022 With the way the world is currently, the below affirmation gives us some positivity back into our day, and reminds us to never take the small things in life for granted. When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. - Marcus Aurelius. Do you have a favourite affirmation?
