25.01.2022 During this pandemic, many pensioners have raised concerns about the cost of living and the challenges this pandemic is bringing. Now 2.5 million pensioners will be impacted by the Morrison Government's pension freeze, beginning from today. The reality is a lot of people in our community are doing it tough, and pensioners are among some of the hardest being hit.... I support calls to stop the freeze and provide additional COVID support for pensioners.

23.01.2022 Today is DonateLife annual Thank You Day, and our community takes a moment to thank donors and their families. Making organ and tissue donation saves lives. #DonateLife #ThankYouDay2020 #organdonation #tissuedonation

23.01.2022 Ducklings are the cutest.

20.01.2022 Today marks the first day of Dementia Action Week. Did you know that a few small changes at home can support people with dementia to maintain their independence things like a well-lit room and labelled cupboards. Use Dementia Australia’s home audit tool to see what you can do. Visit https://discrimination.dementia.org.au/action-week/ for more information.... #DementiaActionWeek

18.01.2022 #FederalICAC, When parliament isn't sitting, I get amongst the community to hear first hand the wants and needs of our region. Frequently people tell me they want to see a Federal ICAC. Labor took this policy to the election because we know that #SportsRorts and other abuses of power must not go unpunished. We work for you!

17.01.2022 The government must be transparent and accountable when it comes to spending your taxpayer dollars. It's simply not good enough last year it was sports rorts, now a dodgy airport land deal. Any funding cuts to the Auditor General's Budget are outrageous and must be reversed.... This budget should include funding for a federal ICAC. #FEDERALICACNOW

16.01.2022 What a disgrace! No Richmond Vale Rail Trail, no new money for the M1 Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace, no JobKeeper for staff at Newcastle Airport, cuts to Medicare rebates, cute to optical services, cuts to postal services and the list goes on...... It is beyond a joke that $30m of taxpayers money has been spent on land worth $3m. ... Why?..... I’m glad you asked. So did I! #federalicacnow Because the land is owned by Liberal Party donors. The Australian National Audit Office has castigated the Coalition for overpaying massively on a parcel of land abutting Western Sydney Airport. The money went to a company called LPC, one of the largest family-owned dairy companies in Australia. It is run by billionaire brothers Tony and Ron Perich, who make regular and substantial donations to the Liberal Party. Read more: http://www.smh.com.au//taxpayers-spent-30m-on-land-worth-o

16.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who shared in celebrating dogs in politics day . To mark the occasion here is a collage of the pictures shared. Meet the dogs of Paterson ... #DogsInPoliticsDay #keepauspetfriendly

15.01.2022 Thales is a global leader in Defence products and services, and today I had the pleasure of touring the Carrington site. This is a Hunter success story with naval support services and integrated communication solutions for Defence delivered here in our backyard. The Port of Newcastle has so much to offer the Hunter and is key to us being a local economic powerhouse.... Our region has the tools to deliver more jobs thanks to trusted industry leaders like Thales Group. Thanks to Gary and his team for showing me the fantastic facility.

15.01.2022 The cuts to Job Keeper will continue to hurt business. While the borders are closed government must continue to support business so we can keep local jobs. The pandemic is no one's fault everyone wants to come out of this with livelihoods intact.... Our economy hasn't seen a snapback, and we must not let the government tinker with the wage subsidies that have been a lifeline for business. This coming sitting week, I will be fighting hard for the government to listen to our community and protect our jobs!

15.01.2022 From tomorrow it will be a case of count the koalas at Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary. What a special place for our iconic locals who are loved by the very special volunteers at Port Stephens Koalas. Ron Land you legend! #glamping #uniquebynature #portstephensiloveyou #portstephendkoalasanctuary

13.01.2022 I was honoured to attend the OAM presentation of Dianne Ball today at Port Stephens Council chambers. Dianne is the Co-founder of the Wahroonga Aboriginal Corporation, Deputy Chair of Awabakal and an active Board Member of the Raymond Terrace Health One Family Practice. She has been a finalist in the Lifeline’s Steel Magnolias awards, and in 2018 received a certificate of commendation from NSW Premier for her contributions to our state.... Among many of her passions, she was the founding member of the Raymond Terrace driver training program and received the Price of Workmanship award from Rotary Club of Raymond Terrace Inc. Congratulations Dianne and thank you for your continued commitment to our community. It was great to catch up with District Inspector Tony Townsend and Kate Washington MP to show our collective appreciation for Dianne.

13.01.2022 Did you know, Maitland is growing at an average of five new people per day. With a population growth into 80,000 people, we must keep our active community connected. Tonight the Maitland Community Radio Inc. held its public meeting to present their proposal and answer questions about this new and exciting project. I look forward to working with the steering committee to see Maitlands very own community radio.

12.01.2022 The Government paid $30 million for a piece of land that was worth just $3 million. That's like paying $50 for a jar of Vegemite. And it happened while Scott Morrison was Treasurer.

11.01.2022 Today marks National Police Remembrance Day 2020. We reflect on the service and sacrifices made by all police. Today we pause and honour officers whose lives have been cut short while performing their duty as a police officer. My thoughts go to the families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. Be proud today and know we reflect with you.... Thank you to the police who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. Thank you to the families that share them with our community so we can be kept safe. Thank you, Port Stephens Hunter Police District for keeping our community safe.

09.01.2022 Today I joined a panel for White Ribbon to discuss domestic and family violence in our community. This is an issue we must resolve as a community. We must work together to end the scourge and heartbreak that is domestic and family violence.... Thank you to Interrelate, The Smith Family, Communities for Children and Port Stephens Family and Neighbourhood Services for the great work you all do. This forum was very productive. Ending violence and trauma is the responsibility of all levels of government. Together we must work to resolve this issue in a bipartisan manner. Political point-scoring has no place when it comes to resolving vital social issues.

06.01.2022 It's Dogs in Politics Day To mark the occasion share some pictures of your fur babies in the comments below . Meet my fur family, Daisy, Hugo and Honey lead the pack.... Then we have little cat and Calvin who think they are both doggo’s at heart. #DogsInPoliticsDay #KeepAusPetFriendly

04.01.2022 Did you know today marks the start of Men's Shed Week? Whilst 2020 has presented its challenges the Men’s Sheds across our community have done lots to keep Shedders engaged. Whilst many sheds are still closed you can connect by visiting http://mensshed.org/theshedwireless/ and enjoy the podcast. Australian Men's Shed Association & local Men’s sheds are an inspiring initiative bringing men of all ages together to talk, share & learn.... During my time in this term of Parliament, I am committed to keeping a spotlight on the national tragedy that is suicide. I am deeply devoted to the awareness and prevention of this issue and commend the fantastic efforts of men’s sheds across our communities for the work they do. Blokes make up an average of six out of every eight suicides every single day in Australia. The number of men who die by suicide in Australia every year is nearly double the national road toll. When it comes to suicide, the statistic must be zero. The men’s shed concept is inspired by the classic image of an Aussie bloke in his backyard having a yarn with a mate. Help is always available from a mate, neighbour, relative, colleague or GP. Lifeline 13 11 14 MensLine Australia 1300 78 99 78 Relationships Australia NSW 1300 364 277 Carers NSW 1800 242 636

04.01.2022 Proud of our Maitland Pickers Rugby League Club. Great work .

02.01.2022 It didn't work when Howard froze it, it didn't work when Abbott froze it, and it won't work when Scott Morrison freezes it. I have two daughters they should be able to buy a home and save for retirement. Our children deserve opportunities that aren’t undermining their future.
