19.01.2022 Flexibility vs. Mobility . Flexibility = the passive range of motion of a joint. It is reliant on the structure of the joint and the amount of movement the tissues surrounding it will allow. .... Mobility = relies both on the flexibility of the joint as well as the strength and stability of the surrounding structures. Just because as joint is very flexible passively, does not mean this will translate into good active mobility - this is why stability work is so important! . You might notice this in certain movements where you can force the joint into end range (eg with a heavy barbell squat) but struggle to get into that position without the load (eg in an airsquat). If you're struggling with your mobility and range of motion, stability work might just be missing piece in your workouts and rehab

09.01.2022 Some physio advice from our in house physio @activebalancephysio Do you really need that Xray/MRI/CT/Ultrasound scan?? . Maybe not... . Pain is a very individual experience, and what shows up on a scan doesn't necessarily match up with a person's experience of that pain or injury. . Many people with no symptoms often show signs of degeneration, inflammation and abnormality on scans - and on the other hand, some people will have a lot of pain and discomfort without anything showing up on their scans. . So just because your scan says 'degeneration' or 'arthritis' etc, doesn't mean you have to be limited by it. We treat symptoms, not scans - and the best type of treatment is movement
