23.01.2022 On the 29th March 2020 the Prime Minister announced that the States and Territories have agreed to a six-month moratorium (a moratorium means a temporary ban or suspension) on evictions for struggling renters. Further rental relief options will be decided by individual State and Territory governments. While the details are unclear at this stage the Prime Minister has said that renters in "financial stress" will not be evicted during the pandemic.... It will be up to State and Territory governments to enact the moratoriums, as rental tenancy agreements are legislated at the state level. So while the eviction moratorium has been declared we simply don't know what this will look like in reality or how it will affect all Australian renters. Please see links below where you can find information and support on the COVID-19 changes affecting renting in NSW & QLD For NSW https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//co/property/moratorium For QLD https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/the-hub Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions regarding the above 02 9977 8077

07.01.2022 With most businesses now reporting through Single Touch Payroll (STP), most employees will be receiving an income statement instead of a physical payment summary, via Online services for agents or their myGov account. Employers needed to make a finalisation declaration by Tuesday the 14th of July if they have 20 or more employees, or Friday the 31st of July if they have 19 or fewer employees. Once finalised, the employee’s income statement will show as ‘tax ready’. It is rec...ommended that employees wait until their statement shows ‘tax ready’ before lodging their tax returns to avoid possible amended assessments and additional charges. Employers who are not reporting through STP should have issued payment summaries to employees by Tuesday the 14th of July and lodge with the ATO by Friday the 14th of August 2020 . The ATO no longer sends reminder letters and paper payment summary forms to employers. Please do not hesitate to contact our office on 02 9977 8077 or email [email protected] if you have any questions regarding the above
