25.01.2022 Ken & Karen must be feeling the cold today. Three visits in one day! It does make me feel a little bit guilty when they’re sitting outside in the cold staring at me through the window as I sit in my warm toasty living room. I tried to tell them I don’t have feathers to keep me warm but by the look on their faces I don’t think they were buying it

24.01.2022 Perfect afternoon grazing on gourmet food, sipping French wine followed by a long walk along our gorgeous beach. It doesn’t get better than this.

21.01.2022 Don’t you just love a cold wet windy weekend? Forecast for this weekend: there’s a 99.9% chance of a cheese platter followed by small breaks of chocolate and a shower or two of wine. Stay warm and have a great Netflix weekend. #wetweekend #lovestorms #winetime #lovecheese #eatcheese #chocolatelover #bingewatching #netflix

18.01.2022 There is something really special about offering a place for couples to escape too. To take a few days out of their busy lives just to catch their breath

18.01.2022 Nice to see this guy becoming a regular visitor at Messmates

18.01.2022 Enjoying planning for our reopening in a couple of months. It’s been so lovely to receive so many booking enquires but we’re not quite ready yet. Looking forward to welcoming our guests back soon

16.01.2022 With everything that’s going on in the world at the moment it was so good to enjoy a lovely long walk with my gorgeous friend along our beautiful beach followed by lunch in one of my favourite cafes in town. Take some time if you can to switch off from all the noise if only for a moment. @ Messmates Luxury Eco Suites

15.01.2022 Such a pleasure to add this photo to our end of the pier album. We enjoyed a very special visit from Chris’ cousins (both live interstate) on the weekend. We loved showing them around our gorgeous part of the world. We look forward to a return visit. Safe travels home ladies

15.01.2022 Loving these gorgeous autumn days.

13.01.2022 Paper daisies and banksia from the garden in this gorgeous piece of pottery from @zencraftedpottery

12.01.2022 A lovely visit from the Marlor gang yesterday. We loved showing them around the property and Chris gave them one of his very special tours! We can’t wait for them to return and spend more time with us at Messmates

12.01.2022 There will be some very unhappy wallabies at our place tonight. Veggie garden lockdown

11.01.2022 Spike, one of our resident echidnas came over to say hi to Chris. One sniff of his shoe and he was off!

10.01.2022 Father’s Day project finished and ready for some new guests. Chris is pretty happy with the finished product - how clever he is

09.01.2022 Sunday hike to Sealers Cove at Wilsons Promontory. How lucky are we to have this stunningly beautiful place in our backyard.

08.01.2022 Loving the rusty tones of autumn. We’re so lucky to be isolating in such a special place but we’re missing our family, friends and of course our wonderful guests. Be patient #stayathome

08.01.2022 Really happy with my first go at making sour dough in a Dutch oven. Can’t wait to cut, butter, eat

08.01.2022 It’s another snuggle up on the couch kinda day.

07.01.2022 Exploring our backyard. Cutlers Beach via Wonthaggi Heathland Reserve. Your own private piece of paradise.

07.01.2022 Our new project is looking amazing! After 18 months of planning not long to go now! Thanks @davidsonbuilders we love it!

07.01.2022 BnB (Betty & Brian). Loved having this gorgeous couple stay with us whilst travelling around Victoria. They enjoyed the ever changing Victorian weather. Thankfully it’s a lot cooler today and the property is getting a well deserved drenching from the rain.

06.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! We overindulged a little bit this morning but it was oh so worth it! Invy Baker hot cross buns smothered in Gippsland jersey butter. Our guests were pretty happy too Hope you’re having a delicious Easter Sunday too.

05.01.2022 Two joey wallabies enjoying a spar outside the bedroom window this morning. The smaller darker joey lost his mum when she was hit by a car in September and we weren’t sure if it would survive on its own given how small it was. Thankfully we’ve seen these two young ones hanging together a few times lately and as you can see the orphan joey is thriving, getting into mischief and certainly a tough little wallaby. We’re so happy it’s made our home its home. (Still trying to work out if it’s male or female - time will tell!)

05.01.2022 Enjoyed a lovely evening with our neighbours Simon (work colleague/boss) & Lisa from Phillip Island. It was lovely showing them around our home

04.01.2022 Absolutely loved a recent visit from Jan’s van. We look forward to her returning soon and hopefully it won’t take another four years!

04.01.2022 Pretty in pink pig face. Springtime is a floriferous time at Messmates. The bees and butterflies are happy! Think about adding some indigenous plants to your garden. The pollen loving birds and insects will thank you Chris is more than happy to share some growing tips.

03.01.2022 Today on our hike from Tidal River to Whiskey Bay we were so lucky to have a close encounter with a very inquisitive baby wombat. Instead of following mum it decided to turn around and check us out. We’re so thankful to have The Prom in our backyard. Stunning scenery and lots of wildlife that call this special place home. If you haven’t been here before then add it your places to visit list!

02.01.2022 A few weeks ago I bought a sour dough kit from @matilda_studios. Since then I’ve been experimenting quite a bit and luckily hubby has willingly eaten all of my attempts as I venture into the bread making world. I love the idea of making freshly baked bread for our guests and finally I think I’ve created a loaf that I’d be confident serving to guests (and of course our family and friends). Thanks to my hubby for his ongoing enjoyment of eating anything that comes out of my bread making oven

02.01.2022 Merry Christmas to our wonderful family, friends and guests. We’d like to thank each and everyone of you for your ongoing love and support. To our family and friends thank you for being in our lives. We love and cherish each one of you. Here’s to a wonderful 2020
