25.01.2022 Practical (key) nutrition recommendations for pre, during, post training and racing fuel needs for road cycling. Talk slides. Yesterday I was invited to give a talk for the road cycling elite Bærum og Omegn Cykkelclub (BOC), for which I am currently racing (thanks Garry Kjærstad for the invitation!). The topic I chose for the talk was on the fuel needs for cycling and racing.... Attached here is a copy of the slides in pdf format (slightly modified after questions that came up during the talk), that you may find useful. There is no audio with me talking over the slides. Provided essential information was delivered orally, this should be taken as a rough guide of the concepts that I was trying to put through. https://drive.google.com//0B5F3ttOeOHLyZ0NsbGY1VG1TTUU/view

24.01.2022 BLOG UPGRADE! NEW DESIGN AND OTHER BITS AND PIECES! For the sake of MetaCycling's readers' eyes health we've improved the design of the web-page/blog and added a search button and a labels widget. Maybe inspired by Michael Jackson, we've moved from black to white. Not that we don't like black (we actually love it), but this seems to be more reader-friendly this way. Despite our ongoin support of carbs for hard racing, we hope the blog it is now not just eye candy and also th...e quality of the information remains the same in upcoming posts. Do you like it? Yes? Worth sharing? Hope so! Thanks!

19.01.2022 MetaCycling's friend, Australian researcher Matthew Hoon is looking for fit cyclists to fill a survey on 'race weight' in MTB, road and track cycling. See his message below and banner attached: "Hi everyone - I’m fortunate enough to know some pretty good bike riders. If you are currently racing A or B grade and above (or equivalent, for e.g. MTB elite, track etc.), could you please help me out by taking a short survey? It will take about 10-15min, and asks questions about wha...t you do to make race weight and if you do some strength training on the side. Sorry, but guys only (the female study was conducted by someone else). This research project will hopefully lead to some more in-depth studies in the future for me! Any help is greatly appreciated :) The link: https://rdcap.acu.edu.au/surveys/?s=WL8HNMMA3X Also please like & share! Cheers, Hoon"

07.01.2022 We've started recruiting participants for a very cool study. Please share and pass on the information to whomever you think this may be of relevance and also falls within the selection criteria.

04.01.2022 Today MetaCycling's athlete Kate Perry made it to the podium in 3rd position in the Individual Time-Trial during the Australian National Road Championships, that's a world-class performance. Kate has done a superb preparation putting all the work needed to follow a periodised training and nutrition plan, training several sessions in the heat for the conditions we foresaw on race-day and several race-specific workouts. The support of Mark Fenner and Kate's team on race-day were also key to her success. A big thank-you goes to all the people involved in this process, cycling is a team-sport.
