If youre an apprentice working in light metal fabrication (traditionally known as sheetmetal working) in the manufacturing, engineering or a related industry area, this course is for you. Youll learn everything you need to know to work as a light fabrication tradesperson working in one or more of these areas. Youll be taught about engineering measurement, computations and computer technology, quality procedures systems and planning. Youll also learn industry-specific skills in welding, boilermaking and light fabrication (sheet metal) relevant to your current or intended employment. Course Description: Most of your practical training will take place in a simulated work environment at Ultimo College. Youll use industry-standard equipment and technology and be given ample opportunity to practise your new skills in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. As an apprentice, youll also complete some structured training at work, as part of your apprenticeship agreement with your employer. The time you spend at Sydney TAFE will depend on the training agreement made between you, your employer and Ultimo College.
