08.01.2022 One of my favourite steps in the process of designing a custom piece of jewellery is sourcing beautiful gemstones! I come across many beautiful gemstones in my work and frequently there will be a gemstone that captures my attention - begging to become a part of our collection. It was a late weekday night and this sumptuous Morganite beauty was calling my name . All excited, I secured the gemstone and started thinking of a design that will do it justice . In between clients ...and general busyness of life, this gemstone has been in my thoughts. I really want to turn into something beautiful, memorable - something to last a lifetime. What would be the perfect accompaniment to such a wondrous gem? Diamonds of course!! So to continue this design I set out to source two eye-catching trilliant cut diamonds of high grade and clarity. 07.01.2022 It’s those little details that make an Engagement ring a bit more unique. This piece was handcrafted and diamond set by Maurice the Goldsmith right here in our Strathalbyn atelier. The delicate under bezel has been set with tiny diamonds. Each and every diamond, no bigger than 1mm, set by hand under magnification. 04.01.2022 Here is an amazing Gents ring we recently completed. This spectacular piece was designed to incorporate important family elements that hold great meaning for our client. This signature ring was manufactured in Platinum Silver with Yellow Gold Celtic accents. The unique freeform Coober Pedy opal, sourced by us, features a ‘Script’ pattern which is bezel set. The surround is hand-stippled to give a textured effect. The shoulders of the ring are hammer set with family diamonds. A long time in the making but the final result so worth the wait! 03.01.2022 Here is an intensive restoration completed recently in our atelier. This antique gold and diamond ring was mangled accidentally. Being a treasured family heirloom, the client came to us asking if it could be brought back to life. It wasn’t looking good, the setting was extremely worn, the basket was all destroyed and the diamonds were at risk of falling out! A very big challenge for any seasoned jeweller. Maurice took this restoration by the horns and restored the ring dilig...ently, keeping as close as possible to the original design and maintaing the antique feel of the piece. To say we were all thrilled with the finished result is an understatement! We specialise in intense restoration work and take great joy in bringing back a piece to its former glory.
