17.01.2022 PROJECTS, who doesn't have them, aside form building our tools I recently put a new top on my welding bench, best thing I have done for a long time, I can now clamp anywhere over the whole table and use standard clamps that we all already have without spending a fortune on the tables with round holes and special fixtures. Great as they are not all of us can justify them. I also made sure it was dead level and square, a little bit of shimming here and there but well worth it. ...Had the top plasma cut out of 20mm plate for $420, slots are 200mm long and 50mm wide, I saw the idea on Fireball Tools website, check it out, they have some great stuff. The other photo is of another little project, I recycled a scrapped stainless steel urban rubbish bin into a letterbox, it will be filled with rocks when bolted down to a pre laid slab (concrete not beer), maybe not everyones cup of tea but at least it's different from all the other $250 Bunnings letterboxes up and down the street. It comes with a variety hardened dies, foot pedal, air reg and oiler and has a heavy duty industrial air hammer unit that beats at 4000BTM and really moves some metal when you crank it up. It has a 600mm throat depth and height so will handle most jobs that you can throw at it. It uses 5 CFM of air and needs 90-1...20 PSI. Just wanted to share an idea from one of my customers that had limited room in his garage and mounted his larger tools, like our bead roller for example, on a stand with a pivot on the top so he could simply swing them away from the wall when he wanted to use them. Great idea, thanks for sharing.
