20.01.2022 Do you ever look at an Interior Designer's photos and think to yourself....."I wonder what these rooms would look like when no-one has actually styled them for a photo." Well, wonder no more. I designed this bathroom last year, but I had been too busy to go back and look at the final result until a few days ago. To be clear, this is a kid's bathroom used by two tween girls! And all I did for this photo was removed the pink towels and shoved a few bits and pieces inside the ...mirrored cabinets and voila! 05.01.2022 A dark sofa, particularly a dark leather sofa can look really drab and heavy without the right accessories. In this recent property styling project in Darwin's Northern suburbs, I was asked to use the client's black leather corner sofa in the living room. You can see from the (Before Styling) image on the right, what a difference professional property styling has made to this room. ... The key is to add lighter colours and textures to soften the room and break up the large expanse of black. Start with a floor rug - I chose soft textured stripes to add some pattern to the room. Select your art next and hang this behind the sofa as your backdrop. Then pick out one or two colours from your artwork and include these in your cushion selections. REMEMBER, if you have a large sofa you need large cushions to keep the scale balanced. Lastly, add a coffee, side table, some table accessories and a tall indoor plant. And that's it - a finished, photo-worthy living room!
