The Willetton Rotary Club had an extremely fun, fund raising event on Monday night and a Wonderful Melbourne Cup Event today. We had some wonderful local businesses help us out with today’s event. Big thank you to @willettonweddingflowers for the beautiful bouquet that we raffled. And @iga_rossmoyne helped us out with contributions toward our beautiful Grazing board food. Matt Ottley is multi-award winning artist, working across the fields of literat...ure, visual arts and music. Most of his books are works of fiction for children and young adults, beautifully illustrated by him. Since 2014 he is also focusing on setting music to the words and images for some of his books an initiative known as The Sound of Picture Books. Painting him was a challenge; he is hard to catch and a very private person. We usually meet while he performs in Perth and I find him extremely interesting intellectually and visually. His deeply set piercing but kind eyes hold my full attention, while the intensity of his stare is in complete contrast to his calm and quiet manner. His awards include the CBCA Picture Book of the Year, the Queensland & NSW Premiers Awards for literature and the International IBBY Australia Illustrator Award. See more
