24.01.2022 REPRESENTATIVE SCHOOL SPORT PROGRAM CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: As a response to COVID-19 containment measures, the Department of Education has issued the following directive: A decision has been made to cancel: the representative school sport program which includes district, regional, state, national, interstate and international competitions Queensland School Sport team participation in any national, interstate or international events organised across Australia or ...internationally. This decision is effective as of 17 March 2020 and will continue until further advice. This has been a very difficult decision and not one taken lightly. These directions are about supporting the effort to contain and slow the spread of COVID-19, and have also become operationally necessary based on participants; available staff coaches, managers, and supports; umpires and referees; venues; as well as a clear school sport pathway. The department will continue to provide ongoing communication as Australia’s response to COVID-19 evolves. For latest updates, visit the Education website. UNFORTUNATELY, ALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, REGIONAL TRIALS and DISTRICT TRIALS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

16.01.2022 QSS 10-12yrs and 13-19yrs SWIMMING STATE CHAMPIONSHIP CANCELLATION: We have been advised of the cancellation of the QSS 10-12yrs and 13-19yrs Swimming State Championship. These directions are all about supporting the effort to contain and slow the spread of COVID-19. Our schools play a vital role in this effort and I ask for your continued support and attention to actions that will support this containment effort. Apparel: Your options:... 1. Still collect the Met East gear that has been paid for at the team outfitting afternoon Tuesday 17 March (as previously advertised). You will be eligible for a refund of the levy. 2. If you choose, you may get a refund on BOTH the team apparel you have ordered and the student levy. Refunds: To obtain a refund of the student levy and, if applicable, apparel, you must: 1. Go to the Met East online shop 2. Log in and go to DASHBOARD then ORDER HISTORY 3. Select the items you wish to be refunded and apply for a refund 4. Your refund will then be processed by our office as quickly as possible. 10-12yrs TEAM PHOTO: There will NO LONGER be a team photo taken tomorrow at the outfitting afternoon.

15.01.2022 Good luck to the hundreds of swimmers competing at our Regional 10 - 19 Yrs Swimming Trials on Tuesday 28 February at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre. We have over 2500 entries for the meet across 298 heats so it will be a busy day for all staff and students. We also have students trialling for 12 - 19 Yrs Volleyball Teams and 17 - 18 Yrs Rugby Union. Good luck to all competitors.

11.01.2022 FOOTBALL TRIALS POSTPONED: Be advised the 16-19yrs Girls and 17-19yrs Boys Regional Football Trial due to be held 12 March have been postponed due to field conditions. The new trial date will be advised shortly.

11.01.2022 SCHOOL SPORT REBOOT In line with the Queensland Government’s easing of restrictions following COVID-19, the Department of Education is pleased to announce a staged return of 2020 school sport in Queensland. From 10 July 2020, in line with the Queensland Government’s Stage 3 easing of restrictions, state schools will be able to conduct inter-school and representative school sport for both indoor and outdoor sports. ... Some district and regional school sport events will commence in Term 3 - refer to the Regional School Sport calendar on the Met East School Sport website. Please note, some dates and/or venues are still to be confirmed. Students who have been selected in the following teams will receive information from their manager in the upcoming weeks Water Polo 13-17 years Netball 13-15 years & 16-19 years Golf 10-19 years We are finalising our calendar and the following Regional trials will be held in term 3: Hockey 10-12 years & 13-19 years Softball 10-12 years Basketball 13-15 years Cricket (all age groups) Netball 12 years Volleyball 12-15years & 16-19 years Basketball 10-12 years Surfing 13-18 years Selected QSS state championships will also take place in Term 3 and Term 4 2020, in line with consideration of the current COVID-19 restrictions. An interim 2020 QSS State Event Calendar is available on the QSS website. Please note some dates and/or venues are still to be confirmed. We understand there will be some disappointment however, careful consideration was taken by the Department of Education in making these decisions.

05.01.2022 We have had more success, this time at the 10 - 19 Yrs State Cross Country Championships. In terrible weather, our team performed magnificantly to win the Individual Event and the Relay Event which gave us the Overall Championship. This is a fantastic result and congratulations to all competitors and Officals along with the parents and supporters who braved the weather!

04.01.2022 Met East School Sport would like to wish all athletes and family travelling to Hervey Bay for the 2017 QSS Aquathlon and Triathlon Championships a safe journey. Good luck to everyone competing at the State Championships. Thursday 23 February - Saturday 25 February.

04.01.2022 We have had some mixed results at recent State Championships. At the 15 Yrs Touch Championships on the Gold Coast, both boys and girls teams made the grand final with the girls losing to South Coast and the boys unlucky to be beaten by Capricornia in a drop-off. Great effort from both teams. Our 12 Yrs Boys Rugby Union Team lost the play-off for third place by 26 - 21. Another great effort from the boys who were defending champions. Our Surfers have competed at North Stradbro...ke Island in the State Championships and came a credible 4th. Given our smaller team size than the placegetters this was a great result. Whilst it is not considered a full State Championship, we did have students participating in the Qld Schools Orienteering Championship at Kingaroy in July. Congratulations to the Brisbane SHS students who finished 2nd top shool on points per participant and 3rd in total points. Metropolitan East Region finished 3rd overall.
