25.01.2022 Hello world! Chickpeas are coming up beautifully after some much needed rain last weekend. I can handle the muddy boots if it means winter crop.

24.01.2022 See that tiny little bug, that is a mirid. This little guy is freshly hatched and about the size of a pin head. These guys like to suck any fruit that they can hence why we don’t like them in our cotton or pulse crops as they can damage the fruit when feeding. Gotta have good eyes to find these guys!

24.01.2022 And the little critters are back in full force. Usually we don’t see mice until towards the end of the crop, but this is one of the joys of a bounce back in seasons...rodents!!

20.01.2022 Happy Monday! I’ve been checking some faba beans this morning. The crops are flowering, which means the beatsheet is out! #agronomy #darlingdowns #wintercrop #fababeans #wintersun #rainplease

18.01.2022 It’s dry but this wheat is hanging on. Crops are starting to near the end, which means we are starting to think about summer...where did that time go? Bring on the rain and summer time!

17.01.2022 Important little note from AgBiotech for Vivus spraying at this time of the year. Do it right, do it once #latesorghum #agronomy #darlingdowns #virus #heliothiscontrol

16.01.2022 Nothing like beautiful white cotton against a blue sky on a cold morning...truely beautiful #cotton20 #pickingtime #darlingdowns #naturalbeauty #nature #singleskip #agronomy #simplicity

15.01.2022 Baby barley . Just add water (hughie I’m talking to you) and watch it grow!

13.01.2022 So who is Meteora Agronomic Consulting? We are a family run agronomic business who believes in farming, smarter. Matt and Liz are our agronomists and between them have over 30 years of experience. We do things differently. We believe in IPM, looking after your soil with our tailored nutrient management program and managing your inputs wisely. We service the central and eastern Darling Downs. If you’d like to follow along flick us a like, we’d appreciate the support!

12.01.2022 Did you know that we are the Darling Downs agent for Goanna Ag? I popped this beauty into some great looking wheat last week before the rain. The data we can collect from this probe and box now is brilliant in helping us manage what moisture and water we have. The more tools we have the better I say!

12.01.2022 What a monster of a head. This grower had some leftover G22 and it has not disappointed! With the right nutrition and water we see results like this. Here’s hoping the temperatures remain kind to us to get this crop to maturity. #sorghum #G22 #summercrop #agronomy #stockfeed #aussiefarmers Pioneer Brand Products - Australia

11.01.2022 Hello my pretties...its almost time for our earliest chickpeas to flower. Did you no that chickpeas won’t hold pods until the average temp is 15 degrees. So while we might see flowers it’s important for heliothis management to keep an eye on temperatures as we don’t want to waste our spray on a crop that isn’t going to hold pods.

10.01.2022 No need to panic buy people, #aussiefarmers have you covered. These mungbeans aren’t to far off harvest, just waiting for the last few green pods to brown off. Then it’ll be from here to you in no time. #mungbeans #summerpulses #darlingdowns #summercrop #harvesttime #agronomy

06.01.2022 I just love text messages like this from the boss. Some fantastic yield results considering the season. It just goes to show if your nutrition is spot on for that block, just add water and you will see results. (Have obviously scrubbed out block names for privacy reasons). #agronomy #nutrition #darlingdowns #pickingtime #cotton20

06.01.2022 We are busy busy busy. Just because it’s dry (insert sad face) and sunny (that I’m ok with) doesn’t mean that disease isn’t lurking. Checking barley this morning and while the powdery mildew has been lurking for awhile, we are now seeing some smut starting to appear as heads are emerging. Keeping us on our toes.

05.01.2022 Another day of clouds and hoping for rain! This Planet barley is standing up beautifully and holding out disease really well. Some rain now would really help punch those yields to full potential!

04.01.2022 We have some lovely new followers and it’s been awhile so it’s time I say hi again. Hi all, I’m Liz Lobsey and I am an independent agronomist based in Dalby on the Darling Downs. I’ve been an agro for almost 10 years now with Meteora and I focus on broadacre and cotton agronomy, but have also branched out into horticulture. In a previous life I was an accountant and ran the office of a family run grain storage and farming business. So when I say I can help with all parts of your business, I mean it. I believe in doing more with less and challenging accepted norms to produce more, better and smarter. If we look after our farming environment and be smarter about how we do it, we will receive more and use less. It’s all a balancing act and I can help you get that right!

04.01.2022 It is an absolute pleasure working with these young guns, they really are as driven as they say! And good to have our boss man playing a roll in the story!

02.01.2022 Some like white line fever...I like green line fever! So nice to see some green paddocks around, it’s been awhile!

01.01.2022 Gotta love how technology is helping us with social distancing. Has been quite a while since I have been infront of a computer for this long! #cropconsultantsaustralia #boardmeetings #socialdistancing #facetoface #technology
