Our annual sign-up day is scheduled for Sunday, October 11th. All returning Meteors families intending to re-join the club & any new prospective members. Are welcome to book in & attend our 'Dive-In & Try' day. A chance for coaches to meet & greet with families & for children to have a swim. ... With a COVIDSafe plan in action to hold an event at Mossman Pool. We must control the numbers of people at the venue at anyone time. It was so much fun we all didn’t want it to end So much so that in 2021 we will be having some more fun meets just like this on a regular basis A huge thank you also to all of you who donated toys under the Coaches Christmas Tree!!! So many beautiful gifts which will be making their way to the kids at Goobidi Bamanga CACS LTd. You guys are CHAMPIONS and we are looking forward to an awesome 2021 with you To our Coaches Ian and Treena, thank you for passing on your fantastic knowledge and experience. 03.01.2022 A group of swimmers from our Masters Fossils Squad, travelled to Cairns for the annual Great Barrier Reef Masters Games from 20-22 May. The team comprised of Iain Ralston, Marine Theiller, Dee Westland, Treena Skeggs-Grant, Alyson Fitzgerald, Lisa Brown and Coach, Ian Skeggs-Grant. They were part of the 300 strong contingent from around Australia who came together for some fun and friendly competition for senior athletes aged from 18 to an amazing 90 years old! Although Mossm...an Meteors were one of the smaller teams they certainly made a mark, garnering several comments over the days for their spirited support of their team and other swimmers from the Shire, as well as getting noticed in their purple team colours! The results in the pool were a reflection of the team spirit, from 46 swims the team collected 17 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals. Special mention has to go to Marine (3), Dee (1) and Lisa (1) who also lowered meet records during the competition. The Meteors were also assisted by Michael Bolt from Port Douglas Surf Club who pitched in for some mixed relays. The team is now looking forward to future meets with the PanPacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast in November being their next major target. If you'd like to have a crack at Masters swimming or train for triathlons, Surf Club or Open Water Swimming events. 01.01.2022 Last weekend 5 Meteors took the trek down to Malanda to compete at their annual Tropical Christmas Swim Meet. The morning session was for junior swimmers and Maddie Pont, Raiden & Reilly DeCarlo were all representing the Club for the very first time. They all swam well and gained valuable experience, conducting themselves with aplomb. After the break the senior swimmers took the stage with Taj Murray and Sam Thomson stepping up. Taj competed in an amazing 8 events in under 2... hours and did great times in all. Sam took a more targeted approach and delivered some excellent PB's. We can't wait to see more swimmers having a go and competing in future FNQ meets. #ZoomZoomMeteors
