25.01.2022 Hi - it’s Vikki Friedman here. Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I know that I can’t enter my own Facebook challenge but setting the challenge up definitely gave me some inspiration on how to be a better friend this week. I definitely put more effort into contacting friends that I hadn’t been in touch with recently and had lots of long overdue catch ups which definitely filled my cup and I hope it filled theirs too.... I offered to help my friends in any way I could - it’s a bit tough during a Stage 4 lockdown when you can’t be spontaneous and pop over and have a cuppa and a hug. But I do hope that my friends felt supported and loved. I thought about how I could be a better friend and this is what I came up with: 1) Be more present when you are talking with your friends 2) Try and remember more about your conversations (I sometimes forget the detail) 3) Try and respond to messages more quickly and consistently And I love this quote because my friends, for me ARE my extended family. I do encourage you to enter our challenge because it makes you really think about what kind of friend you are and would like to be in the future. 20.01.2022 What an incredibly fun night we had last night at our free MeTreat Connect online event. We had 30 women join us for an evening of connection, wellness, friendship and fun. As most of these ladies are currently in Stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne they were looking for some relief from the seriousness and monotony of their current lives. Tanya Levy covered the WELLNESS component - giving a presentation on ‘How to Deal with your Emotional Rollercoaster During Troubled Times’.... We then split into smaller breakout rooms for the FRIENDSHIP component - giving our guests the opportunity to get to know each other on a deeper level. For FUN we all came together to take part in a hilarious scavenger dress up activity which gave everyone a good laugh. We hope that the ladies left the evening feeling uplifted and happy to have shared a fun night with others who are going through some of the same struggles that they are going through. We hope to run similar online events on a regular basis. Spring represents AWAKENING, REBIRTH, RENEWAL and GROWTH. It’s also a great time for NEW BEGINNINGS. So today why don’t you spend some time outside in NATURE? It’s a playground of colour, sounds, animals and flowers. Bulbs are sprouting and flowering and the fruit trees are blossoming. Why don’t you reflect for a moment on how you feel now things are starting to get a little bit warmer and lighter. Do you feel a little bit more alive? Do you feel more motivated to get things done? Do you want to spend more time outside, being active? What is awakening in you this Springtime?

15.01.2022 DO YOU BELIEVE YOU DESERVE THE BEST IN LIFE? How is your Self Worth/Self Esteem doing of late? Do you constantly question whether you are good enough or whether you are worthy of receiving the best that life has to offer?... Here’s a couple of ways that you can improve your opinion of yourself and believe in your abilities and general AWESOMENESS! 1.BEING NICE TO YOURSELF!! Appreciate yourself encourage yourself in the way that you would encourage others. Engage in positive self-talk and turn negatives into positive. SUGGESTED ACTIONS: Write down 3 things you like about yourself. Ask 3 important people in your life to tell your 3 things they like about you. 2. CELEBRATE EVERYTHING YOU CAN! Celebrate EVERYTHING especially the small stuff which can be easily missed. SUGGESTED ACTIONS: Work out how you want to celebrate things in these difficult times (eg small rewards, virtual high fives etc!) At the end of the day write down 3 things that you can celebrate (one of mine the other day was washing my hair woohoo!!) You’ll be surprised at how much better your feel about yourself when you change the way you view yourself, talk to yourself and celebrate yourself and your achievements. Go ongive it a go!!

14.01.2022 IDENTIFYING YOUR INNER CIRCLE In these difficult times, it’s a good idea to identify who you can TURN TO FOR HELP when you most need it. It’s sensible to be clear about who you would reach out to for HELP & SUPPORT in advance as you may not be feeling clear headed when the time comes for needing that help.... We suggest that you have a think about who is in your INNER CIRCLE. These are the people who are very close to you, who understand you, people who you can trust to always be there for you when you need them. The number of friends in your inner circle is usually small typically less than 5 people. Once you have identified these friends, write their names down somewhere that is easily accessible. Having this list should help you feel assured that should you are not alone, are loved and that help is always at hand.

Apart from her special bond with her BFF Marilou, she has put time and effort into checking in with many of her other friends both here and overseas. We know it’s not the same as gathering in person but desperate times call for not-so-desperate measures!! It’s better that we come together virtually than not come together at all. Tonight is all about reconnection, education, friendship and most importantly - FUN! ... There is too much going on in the world that is serious, monotonous or simply depressing at the moment. Our mission is to shake things up and provide some light relief for the lovely ladies who’ll be joining us tonight.

05.01.2022 #mentalhealthweek When you’re drowning in the dark hole of depression and anxiety nothing people say to you seems to reach you. At least this is what it felt t...o me. People who meant well said platitudes and nice things to me And I was deeply appreciative. But after a while I stopped listening because my pain was still there. My heart was bleeding. My soul was crushed. I stopped living. I wanted to just stay in bed and sleep and pretend that the world didn't exist. That pain and fear. You can’t describe it to anyone who has never dealt with depression and anxiety. But it is being experienced by more and more people in our community. And unless we talk about it in the open those who are affected by it will continue to feel isolated and lonely. If that’s you please know this: you are not alone. Even if you’re hiding we can SEE you and we understand how you feel. Much love. Vikki

03.01.2022 Did you know that our self-esteem can fluctuate from day to day and hour to hour? Much like a bad hair day, we might wake up feeling great about ourselves one day and totally insecure the next. We tend to think of our self-esteem as being either generally good or bad but it is much more fluid than that, continually shifting up and down based on the internal feedback we give ourselves and the external feedback we get from our environment. ... This is also great news, because it means that if you are feeling a bit low or lacking in confidence at any point in time, there are some simple things that you can do to change how you feel. The discussion is particularly pertinent given that so many Australian women are under enormous pressure and strain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The overarching message is that 'we should be encouraging kindness and care in the face of the pandemic - to yourselves as much as others'....
