19.01.2022 Rehearsal Studio Sneak Peek Our new rehearsal studios are starting to take shape thanks to Hutchinson Builders. When theyre finished, theyll be two rooms that can be opened up to make one big room. We checked in onsite this week and showed Elizabeth Willing where her commissioned curtains will go. With big floor to ceiling windows looking down on Factory Lane at West Village, we cant wait to see what creative ideas these rooms inspire.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to our community of artists, arts workers, audiences and friends for supporting us in the transition to the new West End venue, especially in what has been such a massive year of change in so many ways. 16.01.2022 BRISFEST @ METRO ARTS Delivered as part of Brisbane City Councils Temporary Art Program 2020, is A Connective Reveal Community by Robert Andrew, presented by Brisbane Festival, Brisbane City Council & Metro Arts. In the work, Andrew explores the interconnections, links and the layering within local communities. This kinetic work comprises an intricate mass of liquid filled conduits that weave through Factory Lane above the heads of viewers. Pumping water, ochre, soi...l and minerals through at different intervals, the work will continuously change and evolve over the duration of the festival as the water moves back and forth, staining and settling at different points along its journey. 14.01.2022 Do you collaborate well with family? Recently siblings Sancintya Mohini Simpson & Isha Ram Das discussed working together ahead of their collaborative project New Old Prayers as part of our Artist in Residence Program. Isha: Collaboration is almost auto-pilot for me. But with you it seems like collaboration is functional or is core to the conceptual grounding of the work. Thats something I really like about working with you. Sancintya: I mostly work intensely with family.... Collaboration forms part of the work of healing through addressing a history of intergenerational trauma, our ancestors experiences and this continuing impact on the present. 13.01.2022 We recently shared one of our two new commissions at West Village, and its our delight to announce our second commissioned artist, Elizabeth Willing. Inspired by food and the culture surrounding it, Lizs work ranges from chocolate wall drawings to potato print paintings and contemporary art dining experiences. For Metro Arts @ West Village, Liz has created a set of curtains for the rehearsal spaces.
