20.01.2022 Please share! A Masters student at La Trobe University is hoping to interview former participants of the Art Access Studio at the Larundel Hospital. The Art Access Studio was a visual art studio at Larundel, Plenty and Mont Park Psychiatric Hospitals in the late 1980s and 1990s. A collection of artworks made at the studio was recently donated by Neami National to La Trobe University. Yet very little is known about the thoughts and experiences of the people who made the artwor...ks now in the Larundel Collection. The interviews aim to talk to artists about their experience of making art at the Studio, and ensure that their voices are available to inform the future uses of the Larundel Collection. 16.01.2022 Today is both National Close the Gap Day and Harmony Day. National Close the Gap Day is a campaign that aims to close the health gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and other Australians. Sadly, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples can expect to live at least 10 years fewer than other Australians and experience higher rates of preventable illnesses. For suggestions on how to support the campaign, visit the ANTaR website: bit.ly/2Js5Bz8 Harmony ...Day is a day to celebrate multiculturalism in Australia and is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of culture or linguistic background. For suggestions on how to get involved, visit the Harmony Week website: bit.ly/2Hw6THM Both campaigns provide an opportunity to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion and equity. Neamis vision is full citizenship for people living with a mental illness in Australian society, and we believe that full citizenship means that all Australians should have equity in health and wellbeing. #CloseTheGap #HarmonyDay
