23.01.2022 Hi Everyone, I have just placed a post on the Neigh'bours Gait that will give everyone all the information they need to attend to and exercise their horses during the Coronavirus lockdown. Please take the time to read all of the pages which will clear up any misconception about the work that you can do with your horses during this difficult time. 22.01.2022 Hi, Have you experienced a bucking horse, problems trailer loading, the horse won't that won't be caught, hard to lead, dull, pins its ears, bolts, is unresponsive or explosive, hard-mouthed or won't go forward, plays up in the show pen or/and hates training? Join us at The Neigh'bours Gate and share your experiences with issues you have had and how you have overcome them to help us all learn and benefit from your knowledge or get ideas on how others have overcome the same i...ssues. We look forward to hearing from you!

20.01.2022 Hi, my name is not important what, but I have to say is! You may have noticed a spot saying Never fail the Horse on MFC Equines page. I am here to give you an insight to why never failing your horse is so important. I wanted to take on a project horse. At the time I had the hours to spare and the money to do this, so I went looking for one. At the Echuca sales I saw many horses with foals at foot, but one took my eye. To cut a long story short, I bought her with the 4 -6-week...Continue reading

18.01.2022 Apart from training horses, I also spend time teaching others how to train horses and find the secret to Equine success. I was asked the question; Can you overdo a training session? Here is a simple answer: You have to know when to quit. A kept secret in horse training is to end each training session on a good note, i.e., doing something that the horse and you do perfectly, with the horse relaxed and soft. It is so important for you to learn how far you can push, how much you can ask, and for how long before it becomes too much for the horse. There’s a line between asking so little of a horse that he stops learning and stops listing to you, and asking too much of him that he becomes overwhelmed. Horse's learn Trainers - not by learning. 18.01.2022 Hi Everyone, we hope you’re all coping considering the current events all of us have had to face during the Covid lock-down. It’s not long now and this journey will be over, and things will start to get back to normal. So, let's make this a great time, make positive plans come up with new ideas and re-thinking you’re riding and how to remove any horse training problem. We know that many horse owners feel stuck when training their own horses. Well you don’t have to worry and s...truggle with issues, you can have your own personal coach; just take that first step, do what our other clients happily did and contacted the MFC Equine Team, we are here to reach out to and will coach you to understand, enjoy and successfully train your own horses. Don’t think having a personal equine coach is far too expensive, MFC will always work within your budget, so the best help is attainable for everyone. Horses learn trainers not by learning... Michael Costello You are their trainer. Call us now and let’s make an Equine Education Map for the future. 17.01.2022 What a great day at MFC Equine, MFC Youth Hotshots practised for the competition on Sunday at Garfield and some great training achievements for the young horses. HOTSHOTS do not forget we are having our December meeting this Saturday - Fancy Dress - games and prizes to be won. All Agistees and MFC Clients are also invited to attend, Hope to see you all there!

17.01.2022 Today I watched in amazement how young Maycee stepped up in her riding ability to stun and amaze me. To watch Maycee ride Vicki on a loose rein and have her doing everything I asked her to do just made me so proud of them both. Plus when I called her horse Tiggy instead of Ziggy she just smiled at me and shook her head accepting my mistake. lol - Chris

15.01.2022 What a morning weather wise, I was so confident early that we would miss all the bad weather then, just before the first 3 arrived the heavens opened up and gave it to us. We missed Christine Vano today as she was not able to be there with us. Hope you feel better soon! Chris

12.01.2022 Beginning this Saturday February 29th MFC Equine extend an invitation to anyone who would like to improve their understanding of the horses mind and body and how they come together to create a harmonious riding experience. Using the 3 Circles Horsemanship Method on the ground and in the saddle our Achieving Horsemanship Workshop will give you the confidence and ability to connect with your horse on a level you have never been able to achieve before. Creating a lighter more re...sponsive horse without having to get heavy handed will open the door to the real satisfaction of communicating with your horse. Week one concentrates on the horses mind and the difference between fear and misbehavior. Week two we look at the connection between the mind and body of the horse, on the ground, and getting them to work in harmony through respect and patience. Week three it all comes together and works as one. You will take your new ground work skills and put them into practical riding exercises as you navigate around objects, negotiate obstacles and work with cows, all the while promoting and encouraging bravery in your horse. 07.01.2022 Hi Everybody, this is our second article in this series and it talks about Brain of the Horse. Feelings what are they? A state of mind that determines one’s action and ability to think clearly. Do horses have feelings? I don’t believe they do. Their reactions are prompted by reading intentions in order to protect themselves from harm, and only when they know it’s safe and they feel secure do they relax and go back to putting their head down and eating. Have you heard the ph...rase, I was out of my mind or, I totally lost it? In physiological terms, something can cause a person to go from feeling panic and rage, driven by the right side of the brain (the side that reacts without thinking) to using the logic and reasoning left side of their brain. I am going to discuss this in more detail at the Neighbours Gait. Come on over and read the next part of this article. https://www.facebook.com/groups/732143613856310/ In the coming months we will be organising a new workshop that deals with Achieving Horsemanship and understanding the mind of the horse. Part of that workshop will talk about how the brain of the horse actually functions. Using our 3 Circles Horsemanship Training method you will gain insight to how horse learn and bring out the best in them every day. Stay tuned for further updates.

07.01.2022 Attention please to all visitors to MFC Equine. As you know, the COVID 19 pandemic is worsening and we all need to do our bit to stay safe and ensure that we follow the government guidelines. Therefore we must reiterate that the following rules must be strictly adhered to at all times: *You must wear a protective mask at all time when at the farm. * You may attend to your horses via appointment only. This is very important and you can make arrangements to see your horse by ...ringing Christine on 0411 815 225. We don't want anyone to miss out, but we don't want to have to ask people to leave either. * You must sign in so that your whereabouts is known should there be an infection transmission. * We are only permitted to allow two people onto the property at one time and you must be off the premises within the hour to allow other people to attend their horses. For people with more that one horse increased time can be discussed. We don't want to have to ask people to leave so please, come at your allotted time and leave so that others can tend to their horses. * You must use your own equipment at all times. * 1.5 metres social distancing must be practiced at all times. If you have horses that need attending to and you can't get to them please call Mike on 0477 411 104. These restrictions will be difficult for some however, if we are found in breach of them at any time Mike will incur a $20,000 fine and the perpetrator will be fined $1600 so please, do the right thing so we can all be safe. 07.01.2022 Hi Everyone, this is the first in a series of article that we will be publishing in the lead up to our next workshop, Achieving Horsemanship. We will be publishing a new article each week so,sit back, put your feet up and have a read. The issue of Equine Anxiety: Equine anxiety can create many issues, weaving, fence walking, wind sucking, the list goes on. Of course, there are many reasons for anxiety, but most remedies deal only with the symptom not the cause which is never... really found. It's my belief that most anxiety comes from poor handling in the beginning. A youngster being badly weaned or a failure to address signs when being started or trained. There are many ways to introduce anxiety to a horse. Then of course, there are we humans, we create issues that creates issues! To change this, we must develop a program that will create a new memory for the horse every day. At MFC Equine we do not believe any horse is ignorant or rude. They simply have learned a bad habit that has been created and not corrected by humans. Quite often the case is that they have never been allowed to strengthen their mind for the journey you, the trainer, now expects from them. When you are handling your horse and he is displaying symptoms of anxiety it is easy to start to pull and prod and fight with him, but instead you should put him to work, give him a job to do. Turn that negative energy into work, give him a diversion, giving your horse a job gives him something to think about and gives him a new memory. If you do this on a regular basis and especially when he is acting anxiously, over a period of time, anxiety will gradually dissipate. Yes, some horses are very touchy, harder to move around, some would even call them dumb. As you are their trainer, you must learn to adapt. Take the positive behaviour as a bonus and work to change the negative behaviour. Remember, if we make something into an issue it will become one, absolutely. One of the truest things I have read is, give a horse a job and teach them to love their work and what's expected from them. Have a map of what you are planning to do with your horse each day. With a plan all things can be changed. In the coming months we will be organising a new workshop that deals with Achieving Horsemanship and understanding the mind of the horse. Part of that workshop will talk about issues of anxiety. Using our 3 Circles Horsemanship Training method you will gain insight to how horse learn and bring out the best in them every day. Stay tuned for further updates. In the mean-time why don't you come on over to the Neigh'ours Gait where you can read other people’s stories, post you own story or just hang out and chat. See you at the Neigh'bours Gait. https://www.facebook.com/groups/732143613856310/

07.01.2022 Yes, Coffee Club is back. Join us tomorrow and every Wednesday for coffee, cake, a chat and of course a ride. Looking forward to seeing you there.

06.01.2022 Hey Hot Shots, saddle up, grab your hats and your boots, Hot Shots is back. Starting on Sunday November 1st there will be more fun and action than you can handle.

05.01.2022 Achieving Horsemanship Workshop. I had a quote sent to me and I wanted to share it with you. I think it says what we are achieving here at MFC Equine; it highlights the potential we have in each of us every day. Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. (Carl Bard, American writer and editor.).... If you are experiencing a particular problem with your horse it doesn’t mean it will be a problem forever. Sometimes we buy a horse with unknown issues, and if we make issues of them, we create issues; which then give the horse ‘baggage’. On top of that we have our own baggage... And that's okay, you are not alone, we all have aspects of our life or our horse we would like to change, the exciting part is, we can change. We are re-writing our ending right now, at this very moment. Each time we interact with our horse we are re-defining our relationship. We want to encourage you to think about the goals you are working towards, and then think about the next step you need to take to reach those goals. Most importantly, learn to enjoy the process. It is not the destination, but the journey that really matters. MFC Equine helps you to develop exercises that will create a softer more responsive horse and greater awareness in yourself to be more inspired. If you’ve been riding for years or coming back after a long break, or you need to improve your competition skills we will coach you all the way. A journey starts with one step; one step towards MFC Equine. Allow us to allow you to achieve with your horse. Michael Costello MFC Equine We will be conducting a new workshop and we encourage you all to be a part of it. February 29th 10 am - 2 pm March 7th 10 am - 2 pm March 14th 10 am - 2 pm Using our 3 Circle Horseman training program on the ground and in the saddle our Achieving Horsemanship Workshop will give you the confidence and ability to connect with your horse on a level you have never been able to achieve before. Creating a lighter more responsive horse without having to get heavy handed will open the door to the real satisfaction of communicating with your horse. 05.01.2022 Hi Everybody, We hope that you are keeping well. A while ago we introduced a sign-in book for the tracking of COVID 19 spread if needed. This sign in is vital for the tracing of the virus should one of our agistees, visitors or staff contract this awful virus. In light of that I would please ask that people fill their details in correctly and fully, that means, please record the time you arrived at the farm and your full name as well as signature. Please don't use dittos and write as clearly as you can. Thanks for your co-operation with this and please, stay safe. Belinda.

05.01.2022 MFC is proud to announce that Christine Vano has commenced Three Circle Rider Support. Christine can work with NDIS supported clients and private clients giving them a safe and reassuring experience. She will provide positive equine therapy with a person-centred approach that will support and assist anyone who needs encouragement, maybe just another set of eyes or the presence of someone there to create a safe feeling. The MFC Team. Hi Everyone We are coming out of a situat...ion that is strange, it may have been challenging, physically, mentally, or both. It is critically important to be safe not just for you, but for others too. I consider a safe place to be both a physical and emotional necessity, a place where you can relax, move about, speak, and share without fear of the spread of COVIC-19, judgment from others or worry. It’s possible to achieve this by doing the best we can to implement the guidelines recommended by the government with 1.5 meter social distancing and good hand hygiene, as well as doing the things that you need to do for your mental and physical health . A safe place is built through intention, self-awareness, emotional agility, commitment, openness, presence, patience, and a willingness to release what no longer serves you, including behaviours and beliefs. The process may challenge you, but you must keep getting back on the metaphorical (or real) horse. Some days are good, other days not so good, and that’s ok. I look forward to working with you. Don't hold back, contact me anytime. Christine X Three Circle Rider Support 0411815225 [email protected] See more

Agisters are still welcome to attend and ride their horses during this time. From the team at MFC we wish all our clients and friends a merry Christmas and a happy New Year and look forward to seeing you all in 2021

04.01.2022 I often get ask about Softness in a horse What is it and how to get it? As riders and trainers, we all should want our horses to be soft and supple no matter what breed or discipline you ride or perform in; that includes horse racing and horse sports. In my opinion the softer trained the horse the more control you have, and less chance of injury to both you and your horse. I am going to discuss this in more detail at the Neighbours Gait. Come on over and read the next part o...f this article. https://www.facebook.com/groups/732143613856310/ In the coming months we will be organising a new workshop that deals with Achieving Horsemanship and understanding the mind of the horse. Part of that workshop will talk about how the brain of the horse actually functions.
