25.01.2022 Off to big town... marking up evac diagrams.. with Locatrix as our partner diagrams take only days instead of months from other providers..

25.01.2022 An evacuation order has been issued for all of Kosciuszko National Park. Everyone in the park will have to leave the area before 10am Friday. It's due to the Ex...treme fire danger rating predicted for this region in coming days. The Dunns Road fire in the Snowy Mountains region has already burnt through 130,000 hectares and is currently at a Watch and Act alert level. Evacuation centres for residents have been set up at Club Tumut Bowling Club and the Cooma Showgrounds. Thredbo Resort

24.01.2022 This year's Try A Skill event will be held on 1 July and preparations are starting to get underway! Keep your eye out and share this page to ensure you are up to date with all the information and exciting opportunities this year!!!

24.01.2022 A total fire ban means no fires out in the open. A total fire ban helps limit the potential of fires developing. During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire. General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity that produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open.... The NSW RFS strongly recommends you reconsider activities such as such using a tractor or slashing, to help reduce the chance of a fire starting on your property. Under certain conditions, the NSW RFS may issue a Harvest Safety Alert.

22.01.2022 Don't be an April Fool... change the battery in your Smoke Alarm... and if yours looks like the one in the picture... replace it with a photoelectrical type... ionisation alarms are so 10 years ago and most likely won't work when you need them to.

22.01.2022 close your bedroom door when you go to sleep....

22.01.2022 CO alarms are 40 bucks at Bunnings btw.

21.01.2022 FYI... Emergency Plans in NSW are required to be site specific... a lot of fire companies provide pre-filled plans with pre-filled risk assessments... this is illegal and SafeWork will and has issued penalty notices to businesses who have purchased pre-filled plans from fire companies.

21.01.2022 you can't smell Carbon Monoxide (CO)... can't taste it or see it... and only 1.26% is needed to put you to sleep where u dont wake up ... again. $40 @ bunnings... CO will be what kills you in a house fire or if you have a gas appliance or a wood fireplace...

18.01.2022 "You walk in the streets, trying to make sense of what happened...we were just talking about the rising cases of COVID-19. And now..." MSF epidemiologist Krystel Moussally recalls the events of last week's massive blast in Beirut - feelings of shock, loss, and the toll of the destruction.

13.01.2022 Only 60 nautical miles from Sydney, Trinity Point Marina is the closest marina on Lake Macquarie to Sydney. 8 minutes by car from the Morisset exit off the M1. ...No expense has been spared in the constructions of the Bellingham Marine floating concrete marina, with 3 phase power for the larger berths and 15amp single phase power for the standard berths, potable water to every berth, black water pump out and fuelling dock with super fenders on both sides and some of the cheapest fuel on the lake. 10.01.2022 4th January 2020 Currowan Fire Shoalhaven Dunmore 1 Crew 5 Overrun Dash Cam... Timely reminder how quick a fire can impact under a southerly wind which hits 10 minutes earlier than forecasted. Our Brigade was tasked to undertake property protection ahead of the Southerly Wind which is expected to hit around 19:10 hours in Tomerong. 18:59.14 Crew has set up for property protection and receiving supplies from other units. You will notice there is no current wind in the area. 18:59:24 Southerly wind begins to hit the area. 19:00.05 Crew brace for property protection, which is out of view on the left side of our truck. 19:00.10 Day turns to night. 19:00.25 Ember attack commences. 19:00.40 Southerly wind hits at 100kph. 19:01.00 Extreme ember attack, spot fires and overrun hits our crew and truck. 19:01.22 Crew member activates cab sprays to protect truck as fire spreads rapidly to the North. 19:01:35 Crew continue to protect themselves, property and truck. 19:02.14 Cab sprays turned off. Visibility still poor with ember attack continuing to hit. 19:02.40 Cab sprays activated again for protection. This goes to show what happens in just over 3 minutes. The crew continues for another 9 minutes on the ground bringing a massive positive outcome, with a complete safe crew, protected truck and property saved. People are reminded to adhere to the warnings when given from the appropriate services as this is not a pleasant place to be when a fire impacts at any time, especially at short notice. Ensure your Bushfire Plan is in place. Kind Regards Dunmore RFS.

10.01.2022 The new SA State Emergency Service basecamp capability was showcased on Channel 9's Building Ideas television program earlier this week. Developed by Humanihut... the basecamp accommodation modules are insulated, airconditioned, have integrated lighting and can be flat packed in dry freight containers for easy transport by both hookllift fleet and side-loader trucks. Announced by the Minister for Emergency Services Corey Wingard in June this year (http://bit.ly/2YRQlmw), the 124 person basecamp has been acquired to provide accommodation for first responders and represents a substantial uplift the standard of shelter. The Humanihut basecamp was developed by a local South Australian firm and is being showcased at the #AFAC2019 conference (https://www.afacconference.com.au/) trade display in Melbourne later this month. The camp will be also be demonstrated with a full deployment at our Netley Depot in the second and third weeks of September. See more

07.01.2022 As daylight savings kicks off in NSW we are bombarded with messages to change the batteries in the smoke alarms and rightly so, having a working smoke alarm will save your life. On your smoke alarm there should be a manufacture date, if this is beyond 10 years, replace it with a photoelectric type.. If you have an ionisation alarm... no matter the age, replace with a photoelectric type - they detect fires faster.... If you have a gas heater, gas stove - install a carbon monoxide alarm, go to Bunnings, get the one with the blue LCD display, 40 bucks... just saved your life.
