21.01.2022 WHAT HAPPENED? Mid 2019, I unfortunately injured my already failing shoulder to the point I had to put the brakes on and limit my Myofunctional Massage (EMT) bookings. I am so grateful to my clients that understood and stuck with me while I continued on, at a slower pace. 2020, saw my condition worsen and our services reducing to Muscular assessment, Nutritional Planning and Advice only. This turn of events meant I had more time to get serious about the sport of Endurance a...nd build our Equine Facility. Our horses became poster-children of MG Equine Services and were very successful! We grew, all while waiting for the shoulder surgery which came Mid December. Woohoo! Although I stopped updating this page, we never stopped moving forward and MG Equine Services has actually grown! - Our client base for nutrition has expanded nationally - Our Home facility, will soon be open to out-side horses as a Pre Training & Conditioning service. Offering use of our extensive, purpose-built Paddock Paradise track system. WHAT NOW? I still have another operation on my knee due shortly, but the estimated timeline is as follows: Today: Nutritional Advice & Planning, Brand Ambassador search begins. March: Expand to include Muscular Assessments June: Expand to include Pre Training & Conditioning August: Full range of services to be open. Including EMT! PPS photo attached is of ZuluDawn, a lovely heavy sport horse mare. Zuli had been struggling with a strained suspensory injury, which lead to the development of a club foot, a few years back. (This mare also had clover leaf hinds prior to that) The past year we have been on a strict hoof care and massage treatment which has proved to balanced her, increase her range of motion, improved her saddle fit and functionality as a ridden horse. Her work load is minimal, but she is observed to no longer swell after rides and afternoon frivolity in the paddock. Her muscles are considerably more pliable and functional - a comfortable, happy horse in motion - ready to increase her workload.

18.01.2022 For those struggling to find the right bit for their horse - here is a download to help you. Why is bitting important? A happy horse is better able to focus on the task at hand and work in a functional frame. A tense or fidgeting horse, reacting to incompatible bit pressures and sensations, has an increased risk of injury due to hollowing of the lumbar region, increase poll/cervical pressure through bracing, and a decreased range of motion. An unhappy horse due to the bit gen...erally struggles to maintain focus, or hold a frame. Some signs of an incompatible bit, or a bitting issue include head shaking, grabbing the bit, pulling, going excessively behind or above vertical and tail swishing whenever rein pressure is applied (just to name a few). Muscular functionality, posture and conformation can all influence the effectiveness and effects of a bit, so here is a link for those who have noticed their horse isn't totally relaxed in the bridle. Note: Dental status, saddle fit, training and muscular strain can also influence the effectiveness and compatibility of a bit.

13.01.2022 The competition season is fast approaching! To ensure your horse is functionally fit to perform, so you can put your best steed forward, Equine Myofunctional Therapy (EMT) is a great therapy to consider. EMT improves muscle pliability, fluid circulation, muscular development, general comfort and even reduces the risk of sport related injury. EMT is great for all breeds, training stages, disciplines and age brackets; making it great for the resting horse too.... Treatments are conducted to individual preference and acceptance. My tools are hands, allowing me to really feel your horse; tailor my techniques to the specific situation and make adjusts when and as soon as necessary - all to ensure your horse has the best experience and gets the most out of each session. Muscular Assessments are $25, allowing you to be aware of which muscle groups are not functionally sound. EMT Remedial Massage (which include the assessment) are $95 (initial treatment) & $75 (follow up treatments). I am available both week days and weekends; I am also available at events, through prior arrangement. 05.01.2022 Just completed a couple of assessments at the Calliope Campdraft Gold Goblet. Although horses are natural athletes, they can suffer from muscular strain and injury, just like human athletes. These strains can result in poor/decreased performance, compensatory injury and ill behaviour, just to name a few. At MG Equine Services, we offer Sports EMT massage, for horses currently in work &/or competing. We also offer Remedial EMT massage for injured, strained and spelling horse ...or the going horse who can afford to have a little time off. 03.01.2022 Happy New Year! 2018 was a rewarding year in which I was able to provide Myofunctional Therapy throughout the Central Queensland area. I was also able to continue studying and achieve additional qualifications that allow me to provide a more complete horse health service. Moving forward with these qualifications, 2019 is set to be a big and exciting year with more services, such as Equine Nutrition, Pasture Management and even Show Prep, scheduled to be available as of Febru...ary - So keep an eye out for the introductory specials!
