25.01.2022 Apologies for the late results from yesterday. The Country Carnival team event came to a close yesterday. In the first match of the day, Mt Gambier Blue found some winning form again, defeating Southern Flinders 4 sets to 2. Mt Gambier Red fell short against the eventual winners Hills Blue, losing 5 sets to 1, although lost a couple of very close sets and was much closer than the final score suggests. ... The second match of the day saw the Mt Gambier teams go head to head. There was plenty of friendly sledges thrown, a lot of huffing and puffing in the hottest morning of the carnival, but Mt Gambier Red came out on top in a very close encounter. The Boyce/Biggins combination got Mt Gambier Blue off to a great start with a 9-6 win over Reds Thomas/Hopes. Mt Gambier Red then fought back in the top double from 7-4 down, with van den Hurk/Edwards taking the win over Mitchell/Heemskerk 9-8. The singles then went the Reds way 3 sets to 1, and handed them a 4 sets to 2 win. This proved to be a decisive result, with the Mt Gambier Red team finishing only 1 set ahead of Mt Gambier Blue in the final standings. Final standings for the Men's Open: 1. Hills Blue 2. Mt Gambier Red 3. Mt Gambier Blue 4. Barossa & Light 5. Southern Flinders 6. Hills Lads Maroon 7. Hills Allstars Red 8. The Hills Boys Blue Well done to both Mt Gambier teams for finishing 2nd & 3rd respectively. A great effort considering the strength of competition and the very hot conditions.

24.01.2022 Great start for the Mt Gambier Men today at the Country Carnival. Both teams had convincing wins, although some sets were very tight, with the Patrick Mitchell/Mark Heemskerk (Mt G Blue) combination winning their double 9-7, and the combination of Andrew van den Hurk/Ky Edwards (Mt G Red) winning their double 9-8. Huge day of tennis tomorrow, with each team playing 3 matches. A forecast of 35 degrees will test both teams endurance. Day 1 Results:... Mt Gambier Red defeated Hill Allstars Red 5 sets to 1. Mt Gambier Blue defeated Hill Lads Maroon 4 sets to 1 (1 match incomplete).

24.01.2022 As most of you are now aware, it has been confirmed that all sporting competitions and trainings have been suspended for 2 weeks from today. That will mean the next two rounds of tennis, both juniors and seniors will unfortunately not go ahead. We are still seeking clarification around one on one coaching, and casual hitting, and will advise everyone as soon as we receive advice.

24.01.2022 Tomorrow night we have the Ladies Doubles and a Division 2 match setting foot on Olympic Park after all of these teams painfully missed a third week in a row of tennis due to unfavourable weather conditions and COVID restrictions prior to that. Players will be keen to get back out there for one last hit prior to the Christmas break, and the weather looks good! In the most intriguing match of the night, the top two ladies doubles sides go at it, with Reidy Royal (1st) taking o...n Uniting Church (2nd). In the only other meeting between these two sides this season, Uniting Church took the win by a thrilling 3 games. Reidy Royal will be seeking revenge after that loss and are looking to consolidate their position at the top of the table. Other matches on the night: Mil Lel (4th) VS Allendale East (3rd) Ladies Doubles Glencoe Maroon (3rd) VS West Gambier Red (2nd) Division 2 Unfortunately there won’t be any coffee van again this week, but the bar will be open. Hopefully Shane @ Joanne’s Espresso Express will be back in the new year.

22.01.2022 As most of you are now aware, the Junior & Senior tennis season is back on from this weekend! I’m sure you’re all as eager as I am to get back out on the court, so hopefully mother nature is kind to us. From a competition point of view, we will be continuing the season schedule as normal. Juniors will be going into Round 8, and Seniors into Round 9. Please make sure that you have downloaded the mySA GOV app to check-in when you're at the Olympic Park courts or any other venu...e you are playing at over the next couple of weeks at least. At Olympic Park, we will have the QR Code posters on the two main doors to the clubrooms. We will also have someone going around checking with people to ensure they have checked-in and will carry a copy of the poster with them. Checking in is mandatory, and a contact tracing attendance sheet will be available for those that do not have a smart phone. Some other key recommendations with COVID restrictions still in place include: - Only people core to playing should attend tennis activities such as players, participants, coaches and operational personnel - Arrive and leave as close as possible to when you need to be there (please get in, play, get out) - Only one parent/guardian should accompany younger children where possible. See the below link for further details on COVID-19 from Tennis SA https://www.tennis.com.au//coronavirus-covid-19-update-1-d

22.01.2022 Don't forget to get your entry in for the Fast 4 Social Tennis in January. Entries close Tuesday, 29th December 2020.

22.01.2022 This Friday night the ladies doubles head to Olympic Park for the commencement of Round 5. A couple of intriguing match ups this week. The currently undefeated Reidy Royal team take on 3rd placed Uniting Church. Both teams come off huge wins last week, with Reidy Royal disposing of Mil Lel 5 sets to 1, and Uniting Church defeating Reidy Red 6 sets to 0. In the other match, Allendale (2nd) come up against Mil Lel (4th). With Allendale coming off the bye, they will be keen to g...et back on the winner’s board and try to take top spot from Reidy Royal. Unfortunately this week the Coffee Van is not available, but they will be back again next week to serve up some great food and drinks for the Division 1 players. Don’t forget to check out OGR’s range of vehicles, with one displayed each week on Friday night and Saturday morning at Olympic Park. OGR have been the major sponsor of our association for many years and offer us a great deal as seen below. Please remember to mention your club when you purchase a car from them, and your club will receive the financial benefit.

21.01.2022 Looking for something to do in January? Register for Fast4 Tennis. We are hoping to cater for all levels, from Division 1 standard to social hitters, so encourage your family and friends to get involved

20.01.2022 The Country Carnival Men battled through 3 gruelling matches today in very hot conditions. The day started extremely well for both Mt Gambier sides, however the long day eventually got the better of them, with both suffering their first loss in the last match of the day. Mt Gambier Red were extremely unlucky in their last match. Whilst down 3 sets to 2, they were up on games and leading in the last set, but were called off for going over time. ... Another tough day ahead for the men, with another 3 matches each, and the all important clash between the 2 sides, with bragging rights on the line. Both teams will have some walking sticks and a defibrillator on the side lines, just in case required. Results from Day 2: Mt Gambier Red def. Hills Boys Blue 6-0 Mt Gambier Red def. Barossa & Light 5-1 Mt Gambier Red lost to Southern Flinders 2-3 Mt Gambier Blue def. Hills Allstars Red 6-0 Mt Gambier Blue def. Hills Boys Blue 5-1 Mt Gambier Blue lost to Barossa & Light 1-4

20.01.2022 After a wash out last week, Fast4 returned to perfect conditions in Round 5, with some more thrilling contests. Collins Crew took on a strong One Hit Wonders side and held their own to take a great win by two games, 3-19 to 3-17. Collins Crew had a couple of talented juniors get them across the line, with both Maggie Collins and Sarah Brown putting in some great performances. Team Federer took the court against Team Nadal. The team names said enough in this one, with plenty... of close matches. Andrew LeCornu had a great night for Team Nadal, securing all three sets for his team, however, it wasn’t enough to get them across the line, with the teams securing a draw 3-17 to 3-17. In the last match, Too Cole for School proved far too strong for Suttontown. They took the win 6-24 to 0-12. Kimberley Height went closest to securing some sets for Suttontown, going down 3-4 in two of her sets. One more week to go, with a catch up round next week due to the wash out. If you’re looking for a hit and happy to fill in for just one week, let us know and we’ll try to find you a spot.

19.01.2022 Please see the link below for all up to date information from Tennis SA regarding COVID-19 restrictions on our sport: https://www.tennis.com.au//coronavirus-covid-19-update-21-

15.01.2022 As you may have all seen at Olympic Park, the Recreation Hub construction has taken over some of the normal car parking area and there are arrows on the ground that stipulate one-way traffic. Whilst it does not affect us most nights, on a Tuesday night, the Netball Association have a summer competition running which is very well attended to. If you are attending the venue on a Tuesday night, or any other night that you might observe it to be quite busy, please turn left as you come into the car park and follow the arrows around. This will minimise the chance of any unwanted car damage occurring, which has nearly occurred over the last few weeks. Thankyou in advance

14.01.2022 Well done to all those who participated in the junior doubles tournament on Sunday.

12.01.2022 This weeks Fast4 tennis was a ripping round with plenty of close matches in cool, but good conditions. Collins Crew returned to form this week despite missing Peter from the team. Collins Crew fielded three juniors along with Rosie and they all played some great tennis to help get the team over the line. They defeated Team Nadal 4-21 to 2-18, with four of the six sets going down to the deciding seventh game. Junior player William Le Cornu starred for Team Nadal, securing the... two sets for his team. After getting over the line by three games last week, Too Cole for School had another close match, but this time fell short by one game to Team Federer. Team Federer had a handy inclusion this week, with Mark Heemskerk picking up the racquet to play his first Fast4 match of the season. Mark secured two of the teams three sets, while CJ & Lochie Arnold got over the line to ensure a tight win for the night 3-18 to 3-17. In the final match of the night, One Hit Wonders took on Suttontown. Both teams put on a good show and there was plenty of friendly fire, but One Hit Wonders took the points 5-23 to 1-10. Cameron Pritchard & Kimberley Height paired up to take Suttontown’s only win for the night 4-3 over Ashlea Dunn & Heath Christie.

11.01.2022 I don’t need to mention where tennis is in the grand scheme of things, but you don’t have to miss out on tennis completely..... tie up a length of rope or string across your pergola area, and you can play mini tennis over the newly designed net. It’s great fun for young kids especially and it will keep them amused for ages

11.01.2022 The Annual Country Carnival held in Adelaide commences tomorrow for the Mt Gambier & District Tennis Association Senior teams. The Mt Gambier teams will endure some intense tennis in very hot conditions, which includes playing 7 matches in 3 days against other associations from around the state. Mt Gambier have sent two Open Men's teams up to compete, good luck to all thos...e involved! Mt Gambier Blue (Men's Open) Patrick Mitchell Mark Heemskerk David Boyce Tim Biggins Mt Gambier Red (Men's Open) Andrew van den Hurk Ky Edwards Nick Thomas Ian Hopes Results from each day's competition will be posted on this page.

10.01.2022 Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and enjoyed the time off with family and friends. Last chance to get you entries in for the Fast4 Social Tennis. Don't wait another 4 weeks until the season recommences, get your racquet out now and have some fun with friends or team mates.

10.01.2022 Council have advised that as part of the Recreational Hub works happening next to Olympic Park, they will be undertaking some tree removal tomorrow (Friday) morning and the car park will be closed off for a short period of time. Once reopened, there will be small sections closed off as required for the work to be safely completed. This should cause minimal disruption to tennis on Friday night, but something we all need to be aware of.

10.01.2022 We’ll allow new entries for the fast4 social tennis up until tomorrow afternoon. We are very close to having enough players to run a decent fun competition. See details in the previous Facebook post. Tag yourself in this post or send us a message if you are keen to join in and we’ll get in touch with you ASAP

09.01.2022 Well, that's the first night of Fast 4 tennis done and dusted! In slightly blustery conditions we saw some fantastic tennis played by young and old with all divisions of our comps represented along with a few fill-ins ! The results saw Team Barty 3 sets 18 games defeat Team Kyrgios 3 sets 17 games; Team Federer 5 sets 23 games defeat Team Halep 1 set 12 games and Team Nadal 3 sets 19 games defeat Teams Williams 3 sets 18 games. Well done to everyone that played and we will see you all next week!

07.01.2022 On Wednesday night, the last round of Fast4 tennis took to the court. After a great five weeks for the Collins Crew, they continued on their winning form in yet another close encounter. This time they defeated Team Federer 3-19 to 3-13. Sarah Brown and Peter Collins put in some good performances for the winners, whilst Andrew van den Hurk secured three sets for Team Federer. Continuing on the trend of close matches, Too Cole for School and One Hit Wonders played out a draw 3...-18 to 3-18. Up and coming youngster, Hamish Gordon came into the competition only 2 weeks ago, and he put in some great performances for his side (One Hit Wonders), taking the win in two of his three sets against his much more experienced opponents. Too Cole for School put in a good all-round team effort, but it wasn’t quite enough to steal the win. In the third match of the night, it was all one-way traffic. Team Nadal defeated Suttontown 6-24 to 0-5. Mark Heemskerk starred for the winners, only dropping one game for the evening. That wraps up the post season social competition. It seemed to be quite a popular format, so the Association will be looking at continuing a similar competition through the summer. Keep an eye out for more information closer to the start of the season.

05.01.2022 Well done to David Boyce for taking out the 50yrs+ men's singles and Jo Sealey for winning the 55yrs+ women's singles yesterday at the Masters Games on the Copper Coast. Well done!! :-)

04.01.2022 I’m sure you’ve all had a chance to play at Olympic Park this season and see the improvement in the look of the top 6 courts. It’s hard to appreciate how good they have come up until you see the before and after shots. Nick Thomas from TJ’s Spray Pave put in a lot of hours, through rain, hail and shine to get these done, and I’m sure you’ll all agree that he’s done a great job! He will be working on the bottom 3 courts in the near future. Thanks very much to Nick for his efforts so far, we can recommend with confidence his workmanship and effort, which is 100%. To see what other services he has to offer, head to his website at https://www.tjsspraypave.com/

The Regional South Australian teams came out on top of the Metropolitan teams over the two-day event. Well done Emily on some great results! https://www.tennis.com.au//regional-south-australia-claims

01.01.2022 The weekend has come around very quickly after a very strange week of weather. At the end of it all, we still end up with another cold Friday night, which is the only consistent thing with Mount Gambier weather. Division 1 are back under the lights for the second time this season, with West Gambier (3rd) looking to build on its upset win over top side Centrals/Uniting last weekend, when they take on Reidy Park (4th). The young Reidy Park side have been getting very close to ...their first win of the season, and it won’t be too far away. In the top of the table clash, Centrals/Uniting (1st) are up against Glencoe (2nd). With only 5 sets separating them on the ladder, the team that wins this match will consume the number 1 spot and take up premiership favouritism. One Division 2 match will also be on show under lights, with the Suttontown Tigers (8th) taking on Mt Schank (7th). Both teams are just sitting one win outside the top 4, and will be looking to put themselves back into finals contention. It will be a long way back to make finals for the loser of this one. Even if you’re not playing, come down and enjoy some tennis, coffee and hot lamb rolls!!
