25.01.2022 It can be difficult to know what to do when someone you know experiences a panic attack. They can come on suddenly and without warning. To help you help them, w...e've put together some simple tips. Have you had someone step in when you've experienced a panic attack? We'd love to hear how they helped in the comments below.

23.01.2022 Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged between 15 and 44, about 200 Australians attempt suicide every day and of those, on average, eight will die. We know it’s hard maybe the hardest thing you’ve ever done, but talking to someone about suicide could be one of the most important conversations you’ll ever have. If you're worried about someone, simply letting them know you care can make a huge difference. If you’ve noticed that a friend or loved one hasn...’t been themselves lately, if they’re avoiding social situations, seem low or flat, or you just know something isn’t right it might be time to have a talk. Research shows people who feel suicidal want you to listen to them and show you care. They need your support you don’t need to be a professional. #youcantalk www.beyondblue.org.au//having-a-conversation-with-someone-

15.01.2022 Quality relationships, especially with our families, are important for building resilience. This National Families Week, from May 15 to 21, let’s take the time ...to reflect on how the relationships we have with our families, of any shapes or size, can teach, support and nurture our children, especially as they grow. You can help develop your child’s resilience by helping them build and strengthen their relationships with the people in their lives. Visit our Healthy Families site to learn more about children's resilience.

11.01.2022 Trigger Warning Edit- This speaks about what can happen to those left behind after losing someone to suicide. This does not mean we think suicide is self...ish. This does not mean it’s for guilt. It is a different perspective and way of looking at something that needs more awareness which we are doing everything we can to do. Our page was made after my brother took his own life and we wanted to support men through all life’s struggles. We hold twice a month free men’s support groups but if you’re in crisis please call 13 11 14. Post- You come home from work one day. You’ve had yet another horrible day. You’re just ready to give up. So you go to your room, close the door, and take out that suicide note you’ve written and rewritten over and over and over. You take out blade one and go across your wrists one very last time. You grab that bottle of pills and take them all. Laying down, holding the letter to your chest, you close your eyes for the very last time. A few hours later, your best friend knocks on your door . You don’t answer, so he walks in. All he sees is you laying on your bed, so he thinks you’re asleep and goes to watch tv. He tells your girlfriend this who arrives not long after. She goes to your room to wake you up. She notices something is odd. She grabs the paper in your hand and reads it. Sobbing, she tries to wake you up. She’s screaming your name. Your best friend, so confused, he stands in shock. Your girlfriend sits beside you screaming, sitting next to your lifeless body. Suddenly your best friend screams and realised what is happening, he throws something at the wall. And then, falling to his knees, he starts to cry. The next day at work, there’s an announcement. The manager tells everyone about your suicide. It takes a few seconds for it to sink in, and once it does, everyone goes silent. Everyone blames themselves. Your boss thinks he was too hard on you. The workers they think of all the things they’ve ever said to you. That guy that used to tease you and call you names, he can’t help but hate himself for never telling you how much of a good guy you were. A few days later, at your funeral. So many people come to say their goodbyes. Everyone knew you, that guy with the bright smile and bubbly personality. The one that was always there for them, the shoulder to cry on. Lots of people talk about all the good memories they had with you, there were a lot. Everyone’s crying, your little sister still cant believe you killed yourself, she’s still in shock and doesn’t believe it’s true. It hurts her, a lot. You were her big brother, you were supposed to always be there. Your best friend, he stays strong through the entire service, but as soon as they start lowering your casket into the ground, he just loses it. He cries and cries and doesn’t stop for days. It’s two years later. Your boss and work colleagues all quit their job. That guy that used to tease you drinks everyday. Your girlfriend doesn’t know how to love anymore and just sleeps around while numbing the pain with drugs and alcohol. Your friends all go into depression. Your best friend? He tried to kill himself. He didn’t succeed like you did, but he tried. Your sister? She cries at night and blames herself. Your parents? Their marriage fell apart. Your dad became a workaholic to distract himself from your death. Your mom got diagnosed with depression and just lays in bed all day. We are here for absolutely anyone that needs to talk, no matter who you are. Even if we’ve NEVER spoken before, we are here for you. You are here, therefore you matter.
