17.01.2022 Step into Spring! Over the next few days MHI will be sharing some quick plumbing tips that you can follow for a complete check of your plumbing system at home. You may have already checked for broken pipes and plumbing issues earlier this year. However, other plumbing problems may have manifested with the arrival of warmer weather.... Here are the first two tips! Check toilets for hidden leaks. Add a few drops of food colouring to the toilet cistern. If the toilet is leaking, the colour will appear in the bowl within half an hour. Pour a bucket of water into infrequently used drains, including floor drains. This will fill the trap and prevent odours from entering the house. Stay tuned for more tips!

12.01.2022 Here are another few handy tips! Observe if water flows freely in taps and drains. Clear signs of clogged drains are smelly odours and gurgling sounds.... Ensure that all stormwater drain grates have strainers. Strainers prevent leaves and debris from blocking the drain lines. Make sure toilets flush properly. If you need to continuously hold down the button for a long flush or if the water stops from running, you need to replace worn-out cistern parts. They are inexpensive and you will notice a lower water bill.

11.01.2022 Last few Spring tips! Check the temperature setting on the water heater. Ensure the temperature is set to 50C. This will prevent bacteria and reduce energy use.... Test the pressure relief-valve in your water tank. Carefully pull the lever of the valve to observe if the excess water passes through the overflow tube. A correctly working valve will control excess water pressure in the tank.
